SAGE

Just as it was said, the men were going to war.

I stood by the window this morning, watching men of the pack—gathered by the field area while the Alpha, who I wondered whether or not he was going to go with them, said words I did not correctly hear.

Perhaps, it was because I was far away from the gathering. But now that I thought about it, I knew for a fact that I didn't want to hear whatever it was. What else could it be if not a way to kill the men of whichever pack it was they were going to? And now that I thought about it, I hoped in my mind that it wasn't a pack I knew.

Which pack did I know in the first instance?

Once more, I snapped out of my thoughts.

Noises were made and bags were hung on the shoulders of a few men. The head of the maids who I recognized, walked out of the kitchen with a large cooler of food.

What else could it be if not for food?

Alpha Knox smiled at her.

She bowed to the man and waved at the others before walking away. This was quite early in t

SAGE Waking up to loud noises, I held my chest. What was that? Instantly, I sat up and looked around the room before tapping Aegon. “Aegon. What's going on?” I tapped him again and he shifted on the bed. “Wake up!” Louder, I shouted. He opened his eyes, looking around the room. “What's that about?” Sitting up, he asked because the noises were too much, and even now, he was standing on his feet, hurrying to a corner of the room where a bag hung. Taking out a gun from it, I didn't know how to react but I didn't care or mind because I wanted not just me, but the whole of the pack to be very safe. “It's nothing—” he had reached the window to take a peep, heaving a sigh as his shoulder dropped. “The Alpha and the rest of the men are back—” Heading back to the corner of the room where the bag where the gun was taken was hung, the man put the tool back in it before reaching the window again. He looked at me, however. “Are you okay?” “Yes, thank you.” Jumping on my feet as well, I jo

SAGEFreezing at that instant, I wondered what had happened. I knew inside of me that I felt someone bite me from behind. Not only that, but someone was standing behind me right there—leaving me with no choice but to turn around—only to meet the gaze of the Alpha. No way. Was I—dreaming? “My Lord—” I mouthed, one of my hands reaching for my behind so that I could touch my neck. “Did you—?” The words failed me, while I fixed my gaze on my hand and touched that part of my skin once again. “What did you do?” Maybe this was an accusation. Maybe I was being unfair to the Alpha, it dawned on me and I bowed in respect, looking around as I searched for Aegon. “Where is my husband, Alpha Knox?” And why was he not saying a word? Why couldn't he speak? I looked the man in the face and looked around once again. “Where is the Prince of this pack, Alpha Knox?” I looked him in the face once again, not wanting to believe what my instincts were saying to me. “It was not you, or was it?” Bl

SAGE A smile appeared on my countenance. It switched to a laugh in seconds. Was this man joking with me? I moped at him, then around before meeting his gaze once again. “I'll take anything from you, but not lies, Alpha Knox. What do you think you're doing?” He didn't say a word. It looked like he was trying to give me time to take in the news. But at the same time, I didn't know if I wanted to take in the news. I wanted him to tell me that it was a joke—but the look on his countenance said something else entirely—leaving me with no other options. No. There had to be options. There just had to be many options. “Talk to me!” I shouted. “Talk to me and do it now. Are you kidding me, Alpha Knox? What is this piece of information supposed to be? A joke?” He shook his head. “I am not lying to you,” he let out. “As a matter of fact, I won't be compelled by my wolf to mark you if it was a joke in the first place. You need to believe me. KNOXI looked down at the ground from where I was seated on the stone where Sage sat a while ago before she walked out on me. I should be smiling, but I wasn't. As a matter of fact, the full moon event was supposed to be special for me because it was a celebration of victory. But, look at me. How was this going to look in the end? Yet, another sigh ran out of my mouth and I got on my feet, looking around to be certain there was no one around. That wasn't enough, especially when I looked around with the sight of a normal human. Without hesitation and wasting time, I made use of one of the many powers I've got as a special—cursed werewolf. Checking around, I manipulated my way into going back in time to see who had been here with us since the moment I marked Sage as my mate and there was nothing like that. This alone was more than enough relief. With a sigh that ran out of my mouth, I looked around once again. The wolves were making loud noises, as usual, and I knew it in my hear

ELEANOR It was only a day ago when I got back from the hotel. At the end of the day, I paid for a few more days. If not because of anything, but because I loved their meals and good services. This morning, I opened my eyes on the bed. Once again, I was back to The Moonclaw Pack. Life continues, obviously, so I jumped on my feet. What was going to happen on this day? What else if not me sitting back on the couch or laying on the bed where I would relax? The maids would do any and everything I asked for—why would I forget I was the Princess of this pack? Falling back on the bed, I asked myself this same question. After a short while, I was on my feet. The box I used in going on my trip to the hotel hadn't been arranged yet and I wasn't going to do it. Without thinking twice or hesitating, I snapped my fingers, waiting for the door to open and the man at the entrance to walk in. That happened in seconds. “My lady?” He bowed, shutting the door behind him. “Good morning, Prince

SAGEThe Alpha and I were yet to say a word to each other. In fact, we never talked before and now that this had happened, it became worse than I could ever imagine. Opening my eyes on the bed this morning, I looked forward to what the day would have for me. Just then, it struck me and I recalled there was a mark on my neck—a mark my husband did not give to me. He would see it from this moment if care wasn't taken. Realizing this also, I jumped off the bed and walked over to the other end of the room where a mirror existed. Looking into it, a sigh ran out of my mouth but what could I do? The Alpha had done more than enough, obviously. And a part of me was certain he would love to do more. Such a beast. No, he wasn't. This was a mistake. A mistake I wasn't ready to come to terms with. Covering my neck properly with my hair and even clothes, I turned around and reached the closet. Grabbing a towel from it, I walked over to the bathroom for a quick bath. Leaving Aella to do the b

KNOXIt was not as though I looked forward to having a conversation with her, but I wondered at the same time how long she needed to get over what happened. Why did she punish me like this? What was I thinking? She needed more than enough time, but how long was it supposed to be? Looking in the mirror this morning, I wondered if I was ready to be at the diner for the usual family gathering. Sage was going to be there and I wasn't sure if I wanted to see her, even though I complained about her avoiding me. Now that I thought about it, I knew in my heart that it was better she avoided me. What did I have to say to her? What could I possibly say to the woman?A knock on the door cut short my thoughts. I snapped my fingers and Brian walked in. The young man started with a bow. “I'm here to remind you of the usual family gathering at the dining table. It's supposed to happen today. Do you need me to do something for you?”“No, Brian. KNOXWith a shaky hand and a shaky mind, I unsealed the envelope—thoughts in my head. “I hope this is good, Doctor Logan—” Unable to wait or rather, control myself, I let out. “Here we go.” I mentioned when the seal was taken off completely and the content placed in my hand. Now, I looked at the paper, unfolding it with a sigh running out of my mouth. “Do you have to fold it like this? I'm afraid I don't like this. Or is this one of your ways to tell me that there's trouble?” The man looked at me and I looked away again, fixing my gaze on the already unfolded paper. “What?” A smile on my face explained my mood to Doctor Logan who adjusted on his chair. “This is more than a piece of good news to me, Doctor Logan. Wow!” “Exactly—” the man mopped at me. “I'm glad you understand that this is a piece of good news, Alpha Knox. And I am happy that you're happy. KNOX**Months laterI woke up to the loud cry of a woman. The voice would be familiar if I had heard Sage cry a lot. But this was worse than I could ever imagine. Sitting up on the bed, I looked at Sage who was seated with her hand rubbing on her stomach. “I think the child is on its way.” “What?!” Jumping off the bed, I rushed to the door and opened it, sighting Brian who rushed in on command. “Aella!” At the top of my voice, I also shouted. Rushing back to the room, Sage was helped on her feet by Brian who had all the strength. Joining strength with the man, we managed to take Sage to the door and it was at this point that Aella showed up, confused. In her night dress. “My lady?!” She cried, rushing to our side but there was nothing she could do, especially when two hefty men were in charge of the current situation. Then, I ordered. “Get her clothes. The baby's and every other necessary thing while you join us at the center.” “Argh!” The shout of Sage and her hand digging i

SAGEMoonclaw Pack? Did I hear the man correctly? “Moonclaw Pack?” I walked towards the door and out of the room. The next time I turned around, Alpha Knox walked behind me. There was a look on his countenance and it looked like anger more than the normal him. Together, we caught up with the entrance of the living room and walked out with anger on my countenance. I knew already that it was the people I once lived with, but what did they want from me? “Good day, Luna of The Darkfangs Pack.” Did that—was that greeting for me? I looked around in shock, not believing my eyes and ears. What did I just hear? I looked at my brothers who had smiles on their faces, wondering also what was funny and why they smiled. “Good day to you—” I let out after some time. “Good day, Alpha Knox.” My husband walked forward. There was a smile on his countenance but I could tell that it was fake. How could it not be? “What can I do for you today, my in-laws?” The old Alpha walked closer. He bowe

SAGEDays after Aegon was buried, the coronation ceremony came to life and everyone in the Pack ran around. With a smile on my countenance, I looked in the mirror at how good I looked—nodding in satisfaction with my heart that looked forward to the ceremony. Everywhere in the compound looked set. I was ready. I could feel it inside of me. What more could I ask for? The smile faded when thoughts of Aegon came running in my head but I pushed it away the next moment, smiling once again with my heart that looked forward to the ceremony. “You're beautiful in your outfit, my lady.” “Thank you.” I turned to look at the maid who did a good job of getting me ready. “Can we leave already?” “Yes—” the maid mouthed. She got off the bed and took hold of my garment from behind. Something Aella should be doing but I struggled so hard to not think about a woman who had done nothing but betray me. She did what she had to do, after all. The Alpha will need to be spoken to as soon as the ceremo

KNOXSage nodded. “I'm ready, Knox.”Taking back her hand in mine, I led her out of the chamber. Through the hallway, we went—with Brian who walked behind me all this while. My guard who never would let me down. It didn't take long to get down the stairs. So many thoughts ran around in my head but I let it be because, at the end of the day, everything would play right. Either right or wrong. “Gather the wolves, Brian. You may leave now. I'm sure the angry wolves cannot do anything to me and the woman. But if they choose to be violent, then we shall have it.” There was no need to play nice any longer. Not when I could turn into a wolf and deal with them. Catching up with the compound of the main pack, I felt something—someone squeeze my hand. “Easy, my lady—” I looked at the woman. “I'm sorry, my lord. Forgive my actions.” Sage looked up at me and then at the wolves who looked so much in her direction while they gathered in front of me. “Where are all the wolves?” More wolves

SAGE I shouldn't have returned to the pack with Knox, but I didn't have a choice because, at that point, the man was not going to let me be on my own, and talk more about finding my way. “You're going back to The pack with me and nothing is going to change that—” In a commanding tone I could not refuse, Knox picked up Aegon's lifeless body on the floor. This was a moment I had refused to believe was real but I didn't have a choice because it played right in front of me. Another reason I could not refuse to go back to the pack with Knox. I didn't want to die, even though it seemed otherwise all these while. A sigh ran out of my mouth and my mouth opened in more tears—while I walked behind Knox who was ahead of me with the lifeless body. How much longer before we arrived at the pack? I was tired. Tired of everything, especially walking such a distance with so many bags to carry along even though it was just one and there was Knox who took everything up in his arms. When does it get

KNOXHow could I explain this to him? “Did you say a woman I have been married to since all these while is your mate, Uncle?” I nodded, ashamed but what choice did I have? “She's your mate. You've known from the onset.” I looked at Sage who had it clear on her face that she was scared. But I shifted closer to her so that she could feel nothing but safety while Aegon remained in his feelings. “Aegon—” I then called. “You need to calm down and listen to me. I didn't mean to hurt you.” “I didn't say you did—” he chuckled, standing on his feet. “I'll need some time to take in this news so you must give me some—” he walked away and was out of our sight. The next time we set eyes on Aegon, it was moments later when he walked back into the scene so that he could take his flask and with this, the man was gone from our sight again. “He hates us—” Sage cried. “I can see it.” “You don't know what you're talking about—” I cried. “He's my nephew and a good man at that. SAGEI didn't know what to feel like. Especially seeing Aegon who I should be avoiding. There was shock on the countenance of Knox who didn't expect Aegon of all the people in the Pack to say that. But what choice did the Alpha have? “I'll go with you if Knox doesn't.” “I didn't say I wouldn't go—” Knox mouthed. He looked away from me and met the gaze of Aegon who watched with thoughts that surely were running around his head. “Aegon, you don't have to do this. The members might come for you if they find out it's you who helped us.” “I got tired of living a long time ago—” Aegon looked at me and then his uncle. “We'll leave in a short while. For now, I need to get a few things ready because it might be a long journey and you don't want to know how long.”The sound of ‘long’ scared me more than anything. What was the man talking about? “I don't care how long it is—” I interrupted everyone's thoughts. “Myself and Knox will be here.” He nodded, faced the door, and came out of my

KNOXI relaxed on the bed, my eyes shut as I rested from everything that happened the day before. Suddenly, a hand hit me from behind. Or even in front of me. “Open your eyes, Knox. Can't you see?!” At the top of her voice, a woman shouted like never before. Forced to open my eyes, I looked around the space as I tried so hard to read the room so that I could understand what was happening. That was when the voices of wolves—angry wolves filled my ears. “Give Her To Us!” “Can you hear that?” An already crying Sage mouthed. Letting go of me, the woman reached the end of the room before turning back around to look at me—her eyes teary. “I don't know what I'm supposed to do—can't you see they want me given to them?” I still didn't understand because there was so much sleep in my eyes and I didn't know what to do and how to do it. Rather, I was on my feet and reaching the other end of the chamber so that I could pay attention to what was going on but how could I? More sleep filled my

SAGEWhat he was saying didn't make any sense, but I wanted to hear more of it. “What did you say, Knox? And how do you mean?” “Isn't it simple?” He adjusted on the couch but I wondered how I was supposed to know. “You being a Silver Wolf is a good thing for this pack. The members don't see it.” “You're confusing me. I don't understand you.” Again, the Alpha adjusted on the couch. A sigh ran out of his mouth and he let out. “I don't think we should talk about it yet, Sage. Give me some time to process my thoughts. Do you need something?” Why did he act that way? It was my turn to let out a sigh. Even though I wanted to hear the man talk to me about how a Silver Wolf could be of help to him and the Pack, I wished I could not listen to him say it. “Hello, Sage. Did you at least hear me?” I nodded and shook my head. “Forgive me, Alpha Knox. But I heard you. I'm just too overwhelmed by a lot to recall what you said a while ago. Can you remind me?” The man got up. He walked to
