NATHAN'S POV

The big dining room had been a social space during mealtimes. Though they had limited resources, James and Lily cooked large quantities of delicious meals. 

There was enough food on the table to feed a small army, ranging from casseroles to stews. The family gave liberally of their meals, not just to Jude and me but also to needy neighbors.

Parts of the home-cooked meals were frequently given to neighbors, accompanied by friendly smiles and greetings. Sharing was more than just a means of survival; it was an expression of the principles that the family held dear. James and Lily strengthened the ties that bound their pack together by lending a helping hand to those in need and believing in the power of unity.
