Doris was asleep for a long time that she didn't realize how long they've slept for, when she opened her eyes it was already dark outside. Added to that, Matthew wasn't even by her side when she awoke, his side of the bed was cold, and she wondered when she would ever beat him at rising up early.

She rubbed her eyes to clear the blurry vision, but didn't fail to make out the heavenly aroma that probably seeped in through the slightly open door. Someone was definitely cooking. She thought about the probability of another occupant in the mansion asides her and Matt.
