Lyra
As I laid in the cage centered in the pack's square, thinking about what direction my life would take now, I heard the shuffling of feets coming closer. The news must have gone round for everyone to be heading towards my direction.
“There she is, murderer,” someone shouted. Before I could understand what was happening, a rain of stones started to fall on me. I protected my fragile body against the venomous crowd seeking my head in return.
It took the intervention of the enforcers to shift before everyone scampered away. They were always big black wolves, enough to allow fear ripple through one's body. I breathed a sigh of relief and inspected the areas where I had been hurt badly. Watching it heal on its own was a secret I never told anyone.
Midnight came sooner than I quickly expected and I just laid there, snoring away quietly. I felt a hand tap me multiple times.
“Shhhh Lyra, it's me, Mia,” she whispered and I was most grateful for seeing my friend again.
“What are you doing here Mia? If you are caught, the enforcers would have your head,” I whispered back.
“Don't worry, I'll be fine,” she assured, smooching my beautiful skin under the moonlight. “What have they decided?”
My face went sullen, remembering the judgment passed by Beta Thorin. “I'll be facing a court trial tomorrow.”
She gasped loudly, gaining the attention of one of the enforcers stationed close to me. She hid behind a block, till he was done searching.
“That's bad Lyra. Alpha Damien is small compared to the other 2 Alphas,” she said.
“I know but right now, there's nothing I can do. I just hope they believe me tomorrow.”
“Well, that isn't an option. We need to find a way to get you out of here. It's almost dawn.”
I looked at her with suspicion. “What do you think you are doing Mia?”
“Breaking you out bitch,” she said, removing her hair pin and sticking it into the padlock. We both had pretty hands and how to use it efficiently.
I scanned the area from inside the cage, keeping watch for her. After what seemed like a while, I heard a tick and her face showed a glamor.
“You need to get out of here, you can't afford to be at a court trial. Your destiny will be written that way.”
I gently removed the padlock and opened the cage, making sure it wasn't causing a squeak. I ran into my best friend's arms immediately.
“Thank you so much Mia, I'll miss you so much and thank you for believing me.”
She wrapped herself in my embrace. “It's fine, I'll miss you too. Just make sure you don't get caught. Run away as fast as you can, to somewhere untraceable. And if you had killed that bastard, I'd be so glad that it had to be you.”
She shoved something in my mouth. “I stole it from the witch's lair. She told her client that it helped reduce one's scent. And since they'd be coming after you, that should help. It should last for just a few hours so you should hurry.”
She scurried away and I did the same, running towards the direction of the border. Bless the moon goddess, no enforcers were there at that moment. Running blindly into the forest, I heard the blow of the horn. My disappearance had been discovered.
“Fuck,” I kept cursing, still running. Not long I heard thick feet and rugged running behind me. My scent was a faint one, they weren't picking it up easily.
Seeing that I was about to be corned, I took a different turn without looking at where I went. I just wanted to get away from this life.
I found a pile of rock and hid beside it, bless the moon goddess for making me so small.
“Her scent is so faint, we can't make out where she is,” one of them said.
“Jagger and Eliza are going to be pissed once they find out that she's gone. We need to find her before they do,” the other one said. “Let's move out.”
As soon as I noticed that they had gone, I crept out and continued my journey. My feet begged to rest and my throat, long aching for water. My tummy, rumbling, letting me know how badly it needed food but I ignored them all. I needed to get far away from Blackshade.
The sky was beginning to get covered in darkness, just a decent place to lay my head in. I was at a risk of coming into contact with rogues, and going by the stories I've heard, they weren't nice ones. Like the moon goddess saw my intention and gave me hope, I came across a light in the far distance. Dragging my tired leg towards the direction, it turned out to be the most beautiful place I have ever been in. The borders were rid of enforcers, and that alone made me frightened. A fountain stood at the entrance of the town, more like it was used to welcome visitors.
“Bless the moon goddess,” I rushed to scoop some into my mouth and also clean my face. A soothing relief washed through my body. Each house in the pack had lights on, with everyone in their respective homes. Instantly I started wishing I lived here as it spelt nothing short of home.
I surveyed my environment, hoping I'd find a place to pass the night. That's when I saw it.
A house without no light in it, the roof was starting to fall to the side and the grass around the house grew more than the rest. The paint on the house had already faded and everything around it screamed deserted.
“That's my place for the night, it's abandoned.”
I carefully walked towards it and opened it, it made a creaking sound but it wasn't enough to scare me.
“I've seen worse,” I consoled myself. “Just before dawn, I'd get out of here as soon as possible. I just need a place to pass the night.”
Barely 5 hours into my sleep, I heard a knock on the door. Scared on who it might be, I decided not to answer. On hearing the kind of sound the person made, I jumped out. He was in pain and who knew? He became my nightmare as well. That door should have remained locked.
TristanI managed to escape the attack. The other wolf waylaid me and bit hard into my spine and my shoulder, unfortunately the bite didn't seem like it was healing. I struggled into my pack, it was late at night. Everyone must have been asleep.“Kudos to you for always refusing enforcers to go with you on your hunting spree,” I praised myself.I fell by a door and knocked hard. I needed whoever was in there to inform them at the palace. Raven needs to get here and heal me as soon as possible. The poison was spreading so quickly and my body was shutting down. My wolf—Magnus—was dead silent at the moment and I knew that I needed urgent help. Immediately the door opened, I helped myself in.“You need to get my beta and the witch quickly,” I said but instead, she just watched me as I was dying in horror. I tried to speak but my eyes were shut and my mouth was paralyzed, only my nose worked. If I die, I am coming back to hunt this person, I thought to myself. The next thing she did surpr
Tristan Things had been going smoothly in the past few days with no bothering news to come, except Raven of course, still sitting on my neck to find the mysterious girl. I sparred with Darius in the war room, with each of his strikes getting better and better. The incident from the night before wouldn't leave memory, a big black wolf twice my size, who could it be? The next in line walked in on us, a delta—Rhys. “My lord, Beta Darius,” he bowed. “I am here to inform you that your attention has been sought at the court. The omega who killed her alpha has been apprehended.”“Awesome,” I gave a fake move and distracted Darius, making me win the sparring. I laughed. “I'm your boss, you need to acknowledge that.”“You cheated.”“Now now, stop whining like a little child,” I said. “Come on, we need to get to the court.”Darius was my best friend, we grew up as brothers right from childhood. He came from a long line of devoted Beta, so it was his rightful position. Just like my family. He
LyraImmediately the court trial was over and each other packs kept voicing out angrily, I knew nothing good awaited the next life I had chosen. My hand was bound together and I was tied to the cart of Alpha Tristan. I was to walk the entire journey, from the courthouse to his pack.As I was being led away, Eliza's eyes held an unspeakable amount of hate towards me. It terrified me and made me think about my choices too. Beta Thorin was not exempted, his was more like he loathed my very existence before I was born. Eliza's anger was justified, her father was killed and no child will take it lightly. At that point, I knew that Alpha Tristan wasn't the only one who made more enemies that day; I did too.The cart started moving at a steady pace and at first I could keep up. But suddenly, the horses started going faster and no matter how much I bellowed, begging for my life, no one listened to me. My misery is their amusement, I better get used to that.As I fell, trying to get back on th
LyraAs each whip landed on my cold skin, I prayed that each would be the last but I was far from the truth. The shivers made it worse and I could barely bellow anymore. All my strength had been used up to shout and I just laid there, waiting for death to take me away.“Are you seeing this?” One of the enforcers knelt down close to me, looking at my skin. I already knew what was marveling at him. With each wound that the whips created, they were sealing themselves back up.“See what? You don't want Alpha Tristan to walk in here and see you hovering over her without doing what he asked.”“I'm trying to show you something,” he said. “Okay, take a look at this.”With a powerful force, I felt the whip land on my back. There was no way I wasn't going to scream for that. My scream reverberated over the walls of the room, bouncing into each other and creating an echo.“Wow,” the other enforcer said. He just came out of his slumber. “What do you think she is? This is the first time I'm seeing
TristanI stood at a distance in the dark, waiting to see her next line of action. It was so easy to tell that she had been starving, and I just delivered her beautifully cooked food, only for me to drop it in the sand again. She started dusting the sand away from its body and tried salvaging the ones she could.“That was too easy,” I muttered, coloring myself fully with the colors of the night. “I will make sure to frustrate you, if not ask for your life.”I stepped back into my chambers, jumping into Darius along the way. He eyed me before saying anything.“Where are you coming from?”“To pay my lovely guest a visit,” I shrugged. He suddenly lowered his voice. “Are you crazy Tristan? That girl is accused of murder and yet you allow her into the pack because she's your mate.”I threw a piece of chicken into my mouth. “You are correct.”“And if I know you well, you do not intend to treat her with love. So why did you let her here?”I thought about it for some time, lowering my face in
LyraHalf of the day in Alpha Damien's chamber, I always wished I could just murder him and be free of this stupid life that had been bestowed upon me. But here I was wishing the situations were different, Alpha Damien was really dead and I am being accused of his murder. The werewolves were divided into 3 packs, with each pack being led by a different Alpha. And under each pack, the lowest of us called the omegas are almost like the slave of the pack. Each one of us is raised in a house that is no different from a poultry, with each of us picked off one by one by whoever chose us. Unfortunately I was chosen by Alpha Damien; the cruelest of them all. We were mated to our Alphas, without being given the choice to find our respective mates. I'm pretty sure everyone believed the Alphas were doing them a good thing because nobody would love to be bound to an omega for the rest of their lives.I kept running as fast as my bared bloodied feet could carry me, there was nowhere to go except
