CHAPTER 27

John presented the paternity test results before me, and to my uttermost surprise, it was a match. The realisation that he had been the one who had invaded our home and assaulted Judith wasn't anything I could have imagined in a thousand years. The mere possibility of it was unthinkable.

I found it difficult to believe, but the evidence was right in front of me. I felt a mix of emotions for Judith—on the one hand, a surge of happiness, and on the other, profound sympathy for Judith. Her wedding wasn't going to be held again. For the second time, she would be heartbroken. I was torn between pity and an unknown selfish satisfaction.

Nathan Everton disrupted our wedding, and now he wants to marry the same woman. No wonder the affection and care for the kids were so evident—they were his own after all. Judith is unaware, and I'm sure she envisioned him as a kind man.
