CATALINA

Yvette’s scowl greeted me when I arrived in her office to get some documents. She scoffed as she took off her eyeglasses and leaned against her chair. Her pink cheeks and playful laugh flashed in my head. She was indeed having fun that night.

“Hangover?” I smirked.

“I shouldn't have comforted you.”

“Comforted me? Oh, so you were comforting me last night. I thought that we were competing to see who gets drunk first.”

She rolled her eyes. “Seriously? Damn it.”

It’s obvious she only took advantage of my ‘not in the mood to talk’ just to get hold of the bottles of wine and get wasted for a night.

With a groan, she massaged her temples while I couldn't help but smile. Seeing her suffer made me feel delighted, too. Was that not a good thing?

“And it's your fault that your dear husband scolded me,”

My smile faded and Dante’s face last night flashed like lightning through my head. When he came into that VIP room to pick us up until we arrived at his private jet… the time I confess

CATALINA “RIDICULOUS!!”I took a seat on the swivel chair and slowly spun around. I played with the tip of my hair while humming, thinking of an obvious response to let out.“I'm the biological daughter. So, why not?”“Dad gave everything to me!”I slammed my hands on the mahogany table and stopped my chair from moving.“Proof.”Her eyes quivered. “W-What?”“Give us the proof, sis. The last will of Dad will do.” I closed my eyes and leaned against my seat, but the long silence of Fiona made me open my eyes again and confusedly gaze at her.“You don't have it?”I knew it!“We do, witch!”What a liar. The corner of my lips lifted. “Show us. Summoned my father's lawyer here now.”Everyone’s eyes fell on Fiona and James, waiting for the response of the two. Their silence and avoiding our eyes are making it more obvious. They should have planned it before claiming something they don’t own.I let out a deep breath. “What's the hesitation, Ms. Gomez?” “He's out of the country.”My brows f

I’m not even a bit nervous because of how politely he commanded me to come with him. With a glance at his overall presence, he doesn't look like someone who's after my life. Especially the way he holds his lower back from doing 360 degrees for three minutes straight.“Look at me.” He raised his upper body. He’s quite obedient, huh? Is he a royal guard? My phone starts ringing. Abby is calling, but I rejected the call.“Why would I come with you? Do I know you?” I asked while typing a message to Abby instead.“Someone wants to talk to you–”“Who? Tell me the name and let him or her make an appointment.” I put down my phone and was about to press the button to go back to the parking basement. But the man blocked my way with an apologetic look and pressed the open button. If he thinks this is not a nice gesture, why was he doing this then? I stepped back again and crossed my arms, getting annoyed.“If

My eyes were swollen from crying the whole night, and I couldn't believe I was sleeping on a cold floor in a small room with two unfamiliar women. While the case is still ongoing, I need to stay here until my innocence is proven. I still couldn't move on about the passing of my father, but everyone accused me of murdering the person I cherished in my entire life. They said he was poisoned by the food I delivered to him. But I don't remember delivering any food to my father's house. Fingerprints were discovered in the food pack, and it belonged to me, which is absurd. My chest tightened at the fact that no one believed me. Not even my husband, who didn't visit me since I was captured out of my will. A woman suddenly pushed me behind, causing me to walk forcibly to the lawn. CATALINADante strode inside the station, joining us in the unpleasant scenario. I'm more ashamed that he always witnessed this kind of event and I'm always involved, not even respecting his name in public.Dante walked past James as if he were just one of the polluted air particles that he did not care about at all. I looked away when he reached me and ran his fingers through my hair.“Don't provoke him,” he whispered, which made me look up at him. “I'm afraid he won't think twice to really harm you.”I know he won't hurt me. Not inside the police station. He would be dumb if he did that.I nodded without a word. He sighs deeply and turns to the man who puts Fiona inside the cell. “I'm the complainant.”“You put her in that filthy place?!” James exclaimed. So, he really thinks I made this to his beloved Fiona? Wow! He's really something.“Yeah, got a problem with that?” Dante arrogantly responded.“You arrogant asshole!”My brows furrowed. “Are you referring to yourself?”“Don't i

CATALINA“Whose land are you claiming again, sweetie?”I got Fiona’s attention. Her nose flared, her teeth gritted, and her eyes were burning with rage as soon as they landed on mine.“YOU!” She growled. “Me?” I pointed at myself innocently. “Ah, indeed. You claimed my father’s properties–”“YOU DID THIS! LET ME OUT OF HERE!”Dragging the stool I found in the corner, I purposely sat in front of her, three meters away from her cell. Crossing my legs, I release a smirk, making her even more annoyed.“Accusing someone without proof is a crime.” “I’M NOT ACCUSING YOU! I’M TELLING THE TRUTH, YOU BITCH!”She aggressively shook the steel bars, creating an unpleasant noise that made me roll my eyes. I didn't know that she was capable of acting so wild in public. Isn't she ashamed of these men, watching her with displeasure in their eyes? But anyway, it's in her nature, so I should get used to it. Maybe I can play with her so I won't get bored while waiting for the captain's return.“You an
