DAMIAN'S POV

Reaching the site of my company, I got out of the car and walked towards it. There were firefighters around and a few ambulances.

There was also press but I ignored them, pushing past them with the help of Clinton and a few of my men.

I headed to the man who seemed to be in charge and asked him to brief me on the damages.

He reported that the fire started at the part of the building with fewer people and there wasn't any death but a few of my staff were critically injured.

I looked back to see Clinton behind me and I asked him to find out the cause of the fire and he left promptly.

I also left and went up to the ambulances to check up on my staff.

In a few minutes, Clinton came back to my side. I finished my talk with the medical services personnel in the ambulance before turning to face him.

"So, what was it?", I questioned him.

"Master, it was reported that the fire was caused by a naked wire. It sparked", he answered and I kissed my teeth.

I rubbed my forehead whil

I had nothing to do but scroll on the internet. The day has been boring and now, all the social media has lost its excitement. I was tired of scrolling and was on the verge of exiting and shutting down the laptop when I saw it.It was a post concerning the explosion of one of Damian's companies. I read through it but it was vague so I left the app to properly search for it on the net. When I got the news, I read through it and it was reported that the cause of the fire was an electric spark from a naked wire.Is this the order's doing? When I got to the end, there was a picture of Damian with detectives around him.Wait, is he getting arrested? What's going on?I searched for more news to confirm my suspicions but there was no confirmation from any of the legit news sites a few bloggers carried the news while making it clear that it could be rumors.Somehow, that calms my heart. This is the work of the order es

LEAH'S POV Lucy? What's she doing here? Why is there a smile on her face?My mind went mute, she was the last person I expected to see. She was still smiling as she walked into the room, forcing me to take steps backward. "Where are you going, mouse", she questioned. Mouse? Where was I going to? "I umm..", I stuttered before I shut up.What were you about to say?I looked down at the bag I was holding, stunned at my decision. Was I going to meet Damian? What was I thinking?Yes, and You were thinking that you love him and you want to be there to comfort him.Oh, wow."Little mouse, where did your mind go to? I am still here and I asked a question, where are you going with that bag?", she asked, leaning closer, her breath caressing my face.It was a nice breath, tho.I looked up at her and she was still smiling and it didn't look strained, but her eyes were like ice." NATHAN'S POVSitting down at the round table, I took my time to look at the other attendees of this meeting.Vincent, Hades, and Delilah all looking bored with Delilah using a file on her nails, Hades was focused on his phone while his body lay heavily on the back of the chair causing it to slant a little, Vincent was probably the only person who looked a bit interested in what I have to say.I leaned forward, laying my hands on the table without breaking eye contact. I needed one of them to break form, for their defiant expression to give away for guilt, even in just a split second.I needed answers. Finally, I broke the silence, saying "The last time we had this meeting, we made a plan which was supposed to be carried out today. The plan was to rat out Damian to the police to avoid interference in our investigation and also to bring Damian's sins to light.Every single piece of evidence we have concerning this case points to Damian as the culprit and knowing that we made the plan a

Damian's POV The press meeting has just ended, and the cameras have finally stopped rolling. I couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction. I had deliberately held back the news I wanted to share, not because I wasn't ready to reveal it, but because I intended to tease them, to leave them with a sense of anticipation and curiosity.Under no circumstances will I ever breathe a word about their secret. Not only would it affect the orders, but it would also have a devastating impact on me on everyone, and even on Leah. So, I had no intention of actually revealing their secret. But I wanted to use the threat of exposure as leverage to keep the orders in line. I needed to show them that I wasn't someone to be trifled with and that I wasn't weak.By holding back the information, I had created a sense of tension, a sense of uncertainty that would keep them guessing. And that was exactly what I wanted. I wanted to be in control, to be the one holding the reins. And now, I had the upper ha

Leah's POV"What excuse can I give to leave this house?" I thought to myself. This morning, I felt an overwhelming urge to visit the restaurant, not driven by a desire to check on its operations, but rather by a deep-seated need to see Scarlet. On top of that, I have started feeling like a prisoner again, like I felt when I was in Damian's house, only that I was more comfortable there, but here I'm not. Lucy is making me uncomfortable. She's doing so many things to piss me off, and I'm unable to react because I'm trying to get in their good book.Lucy has been consistently finding ways to hurt me, all while pretending to be concerned about my well-being. A perfect example is when she spilled tea all over me, claiming it was an accident, feigning apologies and innocence. But I know it was no mistake, it was just an attempt to unsettle me, to make me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. Not only is Lucy's behavior unsettling, but Aiden's gaze has also been making me increasingly uncomforta

Aiden's POVI seethed with anger at Leah's sharp words, but I bit back my retort. I had been deliberately gentle with her, despite her provocations, because I recognized her value in my quest to take down Damian. I believed Leah was the key to exploiting Damian's weakness, and I needed her on my side to succeed. That's why I had been tolerating her behavior, swallowing my pride and keeping my temper in check. Normally, I wouldn't hesitate to put someone in their place for speaking to me like that, but I was willing to make an exception for Leah - for now.Lost in thought, I didn't notice the presence behind me until I sensed a subtle shift in the air. I turned to find Lucy standing there, her eyes fixed on me with an unnerving intensity. Lucy's sudden appearance startled me, my words sharp with annoyance. "I've told you countless times to stop sneaking up on me!" I exclaimed.Lucy's apologetic smile only partially softened her mischievous glint. "Oh, I'm sorry, I couldn't resist,"

Leah's POVAs soon as Aiden stormed out, I collapsed back onto my desk, overcome with emotion, and burst into tears. What have I done?! The memory of Damien's stricken face, etched with pain and rejection, sears my mind like a branding iron. I didn't mean to hurt him so much, but my sharp words cut deep. Now I feel terrible and can't catch my breath. Seeing the pain in his eyes makes me feel a strong sadness inside, like a deep wound that's growing bigger.I'm consumed by a forbidden empathy, a mercy I shouldn't be offering to Damian. He may not have kidnapped the children, but I witnessed his brutal act, the way he nearly took the life of an innocent child. That moment is etched in my memory, a constant reminder of his capacity for cruelty. Yet, despite everything, I find myself wavering, my heart inclined to show him a compassion he doesn't deserve. He's guilty, And because of that, he doesn't deserve a single tear from me. Leah's POVI muttered under my breath, bewildered by the sight before me. "What in the world is she doing here, of all places? Is she trying to torment me like she always does "I thought to myself, my mind racing with possibilities. Her presence was like a punch to the gut, leaving me breathless and disoriented. I couldn't fathom why she would show up in my restaurant of all places. As I stood there, Lucy's eyes locked onto mine, and she flashed a playful, mischievous grin, I felt my heart skip a beat as she sauntered towards me with confident ease."I was just passing by, on my way to the spa," she said, her voice dripping with nonchalance. "Then I remembered your restaurant was around here, so I thought, why not? I'll pick you up, and we can go together. I'm bored, and I don't want to go alone." LEAH'S POVSix months had passed. A lot had changed, and yet, some things remained the same. Life had found its way back into a semblance of balance. The house Delilah had destroyed, the one that had once been my sanctuary, had been rebuilt. Stronger. More beautiful. Every corner of it now seemed to hold new memories, new beginnings. The order that had been disrupted, the chaos that had once engulfed us, was now settling into a rhythm. Things were finally coming together.Damian had come so far in his healing, both physically and emotionally. Each day, I saw him growing stronger, more like the man he was before the war, before everything. He had taken on the responsibility of being the head of the hybrids, and with that came a weight that I knew he carried heavily. But he bore it with grace. His training had become more intense, more focused. I could see the fire in his eyes, the determination to protect our family, to protect everything we had worked so hard for.And the way, he

I blinked slowly, my vision swimming as I tried to make sense of my surroundings. White walls. The steady beeping of machines. A faint antiseptic smell. Where was I?My mind felt clouded like a thick fog had settled over it, obscuring everything I needed to grasp. Panic threatened to rise, but before I could gather my thoughts, I heard hurried footsteps. The sound grew louder, then closer—someone was running toward me.Before I could react, a body collided with mine with force, wrapping me in a tight, trembling embrace. LEAH'S POV"Please," I whispered, my voice trembling, eyes wide with desperation. "Repeat what you just said."The doctor, hesitant but resolute, cleared his throat. "Your children's blood," he began slowly, his tone deliberate, "it might be the only way to save Damian. Their blood has unique properties that could help them heal. They are hybrids, the only ones of their kind. It's uncharted territory, but—""No." my voice was sharp, slicing through the doctor's explanation. The doctor faltered. "What?""No," I repeated, my tone steadier this time, though my body shook. "I won't do it. I won't use their blood."The doctor's face crumpled in confusion. " Miss Leah, this is Damian's life we're talking about. Don't you want him to live?"Tears welled up in my eyes, but my resolve held firm. "Of course I do. I want Damian alive more than anything. But I've seen what that blood does. It doesn't heal. It doesn't bring people back to life in the way you think. It changes them—turns them into

  • THE REJECT HYBRID AND HIS LUNA   Chapter 157 THE PAIN EVOLVES

LEAH'S POVIt had been a month. Thirty long days since I'd given birth to our twins. Thirty long days since Damian had slipped into a coma. Thirty long days since Damian was brought back almost dead into this pack. The air in the room where he lay was heavy with the scent of antiseptic, and the low hum of machines filled the silence. I sat beside his bed as I had every day since the battle. My babies were safe at home, cared for by a trusted nurse, while I spent hours here, speaking to Damian as though he could hear me."They're growing so fast, you know," I said softly, my fingers brushing against his cold hand. "Our babies. They've got your nose. Both of them. And the way they look at me... sometimes, it feels like they know something I don't."I leaned back in the chair, staring at his still form. "I haven't named them yet," I admitted, my voice catching in my throat. "How could I? We said we'd do it together. The few people we know keep asking me what I'll call them, and I don't h

LEAH'S POVThe first thing I noticed was the stillness—the kind that wasn't comforting but left me disoriented. My eyelids felt heavy, my body weak, but I forced myself to blink, to focus on the dimly lit room around me. The sterile scent of the room hit me next, and for a moment, I didn't understand why I was there. Then it all came rushing back. The complications. The delivery. The pain that had consumed me until everything went black.I tried to sit up, but my body protested, and I fell back against the pillows with a groan. My hand instinctively moved to my stomach, now flat and empty. Panic surged through me as I scanned the room. There was no sound of crying, no crib, no sign of the babies I had fought so hard to bring into this world."Where... where are my babies?" I raised my voice barely a whisper. One of my maids appeared by my side, her smile warm but cautious. "Calm down, miss. Your babies are safe.""Safe?" I repeated, my voice trembling. Delilah's eyes gleamed with malevolence as she sneered at me, her long nails extended like razor-sharp claws."You think you can defeat me, Damian?" she taunted, her voice dripping with contempt. "I am the most powerful being on this earth."With a fierce battle cry, Delilah charged at me, her nails swiping through the air with deadly precision. I dodged and weaved, avoiding her blows by mere inches. But Delilah was relentless, her attacks coming faster and faster until I stumbled backward, desperate to escape her wrath. She pinned me to the wall, her nails digging deep into my skin.
