LEAH'S POV

My heart raced, and my mind was tangled in a web of embarrassment and confusion. Despite all my resolve and determination, I was completely undone by his words.

Panic surged through me as he stirred awake, and I squeezed my eyes shut, desperately pretending to be asleep. I wasn't ready to face him but after waiting in tense silence, all I could feel was his gaze on me.
