*1000 years Earlier : Continued*

Dahlia's grip tightened around the man's throat as her magic squeezed his throat tighter. She aimed to kill him and whatever audacity he brought with him. The man continuously tried to claw at his neck, his eyes bulging with fear. He knew that he might not be able to stay alive for long, but he kept on trying.

"You dare shoot me?" she hissed, her voice loud and angry. "I will," she promised him with her voice low, dragging out every single word. "I will rip the soul from your-"

Suddenly, before she could finish, the twang of another bowstring snapped through the air. Another arrow had whistled and pierced deep into Dahlia's chest with a sickening thunk, making her stumble backward. She clutched the arrow, which was near her heart, and groaned as blood seeped through her fingers, thick and warm. She was a witch, and she was certainly not immortal.

Upon that hit, the man who she had been choking dropped to the ground, coughing violently as her hold on him was now released. Though still trying to catch his breath, he snatched his bow quickly, knowing fully well that they could not afford to give her even half a second to get herself.

"Don't stop!" he barked at the others, nocking another arrow himself.

On the man's command, a third arrow slammed into Dahlia's palm.

"NO!" She screamed.

She tried to summon more power, but before she could, another arrow pierced into her thigh, causing her to stagger and nearly fall to one knee.

"I will kill all of you and your families," Dahlia threatened, her lips curled in a feral snarl.

She raised her uninjured hand toward her attackers and muttered, "Voluntist meraki!"

Immediately, a strong wind pushed the men against a tree, their bones cracking with so much force as they screamed. Their weapons fell to the ground, but there was no backing out tonight. More villagers advanced, and their arrows kept flying, precise and relentless, each one finding its mark.

No matter what it took, they had to kill her tonight, or she would kill them.

"ARGHHHH….YOU ALL DO NOT LEARN!" she roared, thrusting her hand forward. "Calux temari!"

This spell made one man's bow snap in half as he hit the ground hard, but all her spells and magic did not stop the others from firing at her. Instead, it made them more determined than ever.

Dahlia panted, she could smell her blood everywhere, dripping on the ground. She was not given enough time to retaliate again when another arrow sliced across her shoulder, causing her to cry out in pain and anger.

"You will all burn!" she spat through clenched teeth. With trembling hands, she raised both arms and said, "Nasiri sorrenthem! Calumis mortem!"

As she muttered those words, a swirling storm of shadows spun around her. It forced the men to hesitate. Dahlia was calling on the depths of her magic, but her power was faltering.

With the injury and her growing weakness, it was very challenging to use her magic properly. The arrows did not stop either, they kept coming, with one piercing into her calf and another at her chest.

"Ahhhh!" Dahlia screamed as she faltered. With every step she took, she tried her best to fight back.

"No… Not like this," she whispered, knowing fully well that this was a trap and a fight she would not be able to win.

"They know my weakness," Dahlia whispered to herself, and that scared her the most as she figured everything out. On a normal day, they would not dare challenge her, and that was the only thing she could think of that could give them such courage.

The villagers kept shooting, the arrows piercing her ribs and pushing her backwards. She stumbled, clutching her side, trying to gasp for breath. "If I don't escape now, they will surely kill me," she thought. "I will need to heal first, get stronger and take my revenge."

Thinking about all these, she looked around frantically. Soon, without wasting more time, her lips started moving. "In kunbris evinasum selest du," she whispered. Her voice quaked, but the words carried power.

A burst of light exploded around her, momentarily blinding the villagers. The villagers quickly shielded themselves to protect their eyes, the arrows stopping as the smoke swallowed her whole.

When the light cleared, she was gone. She left nothing but drops of her blood.

"Did we get her?" one of the villagers whispered.

"No," the first leader, who was also part of the people who shot at her, growled as his gaze fell to her blood on the ground, thick, fresh, and dark just like her soul. "But we wounded her. Badly."

"She won't make it far," he continued, and crouched beside where her drops of blood were, touching it with two fingers and then looking at the group with a grim smile.

After he was done, he stood up straight and barked, "Bring the dire wolves. Tonight we hunt her down just like she hunted our children."

"Yes, my Lord." Two strong warriors of the village spoke in unison, bowing slightly before hurrying to go bring the wolves.

In no time, they were back with the wolves. When they reached the spot, the first leader was waiting, arms crossed, although his expression softened as his babies approached. A rare smile tugged at the corner of his lips.

"Good boys," the leader murmured, stepping toward his pets. There were four of them, and he knelt before the largest wolf which was also the leader and ran a hand over its head, scratching behind its ear the way he used to, while he gave the others some rubs too.

His wolves were well-trained and would serve an important role in finding an evil soul. "You have been waiting for this, haven't you?" He asked his wolf, as the wolf growled in response.

The first leader smiled and pulled a cloth from his belt, which was stained with the witch's blood. He brought it up to the noses of his wolves, letting them sniff.

"That's right boys…" He whispered softly to them as they sniffed, "You know what you need to do."

The wolves after sniffing waited for the final command and the leader gave it to them. He placed his lips close to the lead wolf's ear and whispered,

"Hunt."

She tried to run as fast as she could, blood trickling from her wounds, and leaving small, wet stains."No," she whispered as the howls grew closer, panic settling into her bones, "I have never been treated this way before, I will never b

*Present Day*Bryan's thumb idly rubbed the rim of his teacup as he sat with his legs apart, head tilted slightly. The old man, Baba Razz, had served them some tea as he told them about the origin of their kind, and now Bryan was so calm, trying to process everything Baba Razz had told them."And that… is how our kind came to be," Baba Razz finished, placing his own empty cup on the table with a gentle clink. For a moment, there was this heavy silence in the room before Aiden finally exhaled through his nose and leaned forward. "So…" he said slowly, trying to find the right words to ask what he wanted to ask. "So, you are telling me… No, you mean to tell me that the evil witch Dahlia is…the moon goddess?"Bryan, who also had this question in his mind, lowered his teacup but said nothing. His brows furrowed as he patiently waited for Baba Razz to confirm or deny it.Baba Razz hummed deeply, already expecting this question. "It's identical and exactly at the same place and arm."Aiden tilted his head for a moment, wondering. "How is this even possible? Are you…are we…" Then he chuckled confusingly. "Who are you talking about?" Baba Razz asked them, his expression shifting from confusion to concern. "Our mate, Kira." Aiden answered, sharing a quick glance with Bryan. "She has a mark just like yours.""That's… peculiar," Baba Razz said slowly, letting out a deep breath, and then asked them. "Is it truly the same mark? Are you sure?""Yes! Absolutely." Bryan insisted. "We are not sure what to make of this. What does it mean?" "Can it be a coincidence?" Aiden asked Baba Razz, "I also can't help but feel it is not a coincidence with everything you have told us about the mark.""Unbelievable," Baba Razz murmured, shaking his head. "I need rest.""What do you mean, you need rest?" Bryan pressed

What do you have for me?" she asked, gesturing for him to sit across from her at the desk. They were currently in the main office, downstairs. Ryker took the seat and flipped open the folder. He had been the one guiding her on how things worked, teaching her and showing her so many other things since Bryan and Aiden went on their business trip. Kira was genuinely grateful for his support and help, she truly wanted to do good."I wanted to go over the housing situation for new members," Ryker began, spreading some kind of chart in front of her. "We have had a few new wolves join recently… refugees from neighboring packs, and they need permanent places to stay. The Alphas are also aware of this but because of their meeting, a decision concerning this has not been made yet.""How many are we talking about?" Kira leaned over, scannin

You both have the same body type," he stammered."Please Luna… I did not know it was you. Please forgive me. I would never." He begged and knelt down before her quickly, bowing his head. "Please, I'm sorry."Kira looked at the young man and scanned him closely. His voice sounded soft yet strange at the same time, and his apology did not feel natural. It was like he was trying too hard to convince her or something. "Body type as your girlfriend?" Kira raised her brow and scoffed in her mind. "I see," she thought, still watching the young man as he pleaded for her forgiveness. She then took a deep breath and closed her eyes for a second, thinking of what to do. The young man was obviously overdoing it, but she kept her expression blank. "Get up," she said when she opened her eyes, giving him a neutral look. H

As she took the sauce in her hand, she carefully poured it over the warm wrap. The sauce soaked into the burrito as it darkened the tortilla, making Kira gulp from want. She was already licking her lips and as soon as she was done and satisfied with the amount of sauce she had poured on the burrito, she set the bowl down."Come to mama," She whispered, flexed her fingers, and then picked up the burrito with both hands. "Ouu."The burrito felt so warm and soft against her hands, and the first bite was everything. "Mmm!" She moaned out as her teeth sank into the slightly toasted tortilla, the seasoned meat, sautéed peppers and melted cheese, all coming together in her mouth. She enjoyed how the fillings burst onto her tongue."This is so good," Kira sighed from satisfaction. She hummed softly in appreciation, taking her tim

As instructed, they all remained seated and waited patiently for her. No one said anything, and surprisingly, the silence wasn't empty. It didn't have any tension; it was comfortable, but still had the feel of emotions that weren't spoken. Along with that, Kira sat still, maybe not too still as she kept tapping her feet on the ground and her fingers lightly on her knee while glancing around and often stealing glances at Bryan and Aiden, who would also look at her from time to time and wink, even though they were all seated on one couch. And then, footsteps. It was soft but firm, quick yet steady in approach.Elara walked back into the room holding books and pens. Aiden shook his head softly at his mother and sighed, "We were not pretending to be happy. We were genuinely happy.""Yeah," Bryan and Kira murmured, concurring with what Aiden had said."That is what I don't understand," Elara said to them, the confused expression still etched on her face. "How can you be happy? This is very sad news. Extremely sad, and even I, myself, am still trying to wrap my head around the whole situation. So, how?""Mum, I understand you completely," Kira said. "I also cried, then we cuddled and then at dinner everyone was together again. Even my emotions right now are inconsistent because I don't know if I should cry, be sad, be happy or think about it, as we have been given a specific time to be together and so cuddling with them, talking and laughing at dinner helped me realize that it was better to be happy and just forget about the sad stuff for the moment. Leaving you all is already sad for me; you have no idea. But staying… even if it is my last day here

Dinner was great as always—the laughing, the conversation, the playful banter, everything. It was no surprise that manners were forgotten at the dining table, hence the talking while eating, and now everyone was relaxed and chatting as they were all done eating."Dad, Aiden and Bryan are just… they just won't stop messing with me," Kira complained to Orion, gesturing to Aiden and Bryan, who were grinning at first but immediately kept their faces serious when she complained about them."What now?" Orion asked Kira after looking over at his twins. "What are they doing this time?""Nothing," Bryan answered before Kira could. "We are literally not doing anything to her except keeping her on her toes. She can't even stay still on those toes, you know. We are simply just having fun, father.""Exactly," Aiden said and nodded in agreement. "We are not doing anything to her.""Seriously?" Kira asked them, although she hid her smile and feigned annoyance, just so Orion could side with her."So

Orion said to Kira while chuckling, enjoying how his son teased her. "I'll get back at you, Bryan Tyrell," Kira threatened, narrowing her eyes at Bryan and crossing her arms. Leaning into Bryan, Kira took slow, uneven breaths, trying to calm herself. She knew it wasn't their fault for making such a decision, but it didn't help with how she felt inside. She was sad, exhausted and emotionally drained. She knew they would do anything for her, yet those words, "We can't ask you to wait for us," lingered, and it pained her so much. It pained her that there was nothing much she could do but leave. Staying might destroy them even more than leaving. And Kira knew that. She let out a shaky breath as Bryan rubbed her back and whispered sweet, soft words to her, her weight pressing into him as she could no longer really hold herself up. "It's okay," Bryan murmured, his chin resting lightly on the top of her head while he continued rubbing her back in slow, comforting circles. "We are here. He tilted his head back and closed his eyes, his chest heaving as he tried to calm himself and steady his breathing, but that was impossible. The ache in his heart refused to let up. He took deep breaths and exhaled shakily, his knuckles already white because of how tightly he balled his fists. After some minutes of inhaling and exhaling, he tightened and relaxed his fists, before he felt a hand on his shoulder.Bryan didn't need to check when he felt the hand on his shoulder; he just prepared himself, knowing what was coming, and he knew that whatever was coming was going to be for the best."You know what we have to do." Aiden's voice was low, controlled, and filled with the pain he didn't try to hide. He stepped closer, his hand still on Bryan's shoulder. "There has to be another way! What do you mean, we have to stop being mates?""Look, I am not angry with you. You have done a lot for us, and we are genuinely grateful, but this…this was the last thing I expected to hear. I never even expected to ever hear such," he said as he leaned forward slightly and ran his hands over his face before gripping his hair in desperation. "This curse of a thing is just so exhausting.""I know, I understand," Morane said, raising her hands slightly. "But listen to me first. Please calm down," she said softly, fully understanding what the three of them were currently going through. "The curse can only be broken by the witch who cursed you or someone from her bloodline.
