Chapter 1

Attorney Grey Collins and Attorney Phoebe Quinn are one of the highest paid attorneys.

If Attorney Collins works for people's justice, Attorney Quinn on the other hand, works for cleaning criminals' hand from their crimes and wickedness.

An archenemy to each other. They have the same job but possess different legacy. Works in the same firm but does not go well in the same rhythm. They hate each other guts, their presence is like a triggering bomb to each other. They cannot stay in one place for a long time without bickering.

“IPAGLABAN! IPAGLABAN! IPAGLABAN!”

“HINAING NG MAMAMAYAN, PAKINGGAN!”

“PAKINGGAN! PAKINGGAN! PAKINGGAN!”

“HUSTISYA PARA SA BUHAY NA NAWALA!”

“HUSTISYA! HUSTISYA! HUSTISYA!”

Sunod-sunod na sigawan sa labas.

The law firm were surrounded by people's madness. They were shouted by anger and vengeance. The crowds were cursing them to death and the more they were ignored, the more their fighting spirits hyped up.

They all heard the people's cries, but they treated them a rebel— people who rebel against the law, not knowing their stand. They only believe what they want to believe, even disregarding the people's cries. Among the bunch of attorneys, only attorney Grey Collins paid attention.

Even though he handled a lot of cases, he didn't ignore the case they were requesting. Walang gustong kumuha sa kaso, afraid that they will received the crowd's wrath.

Walang gustong bumangga, walang gustong kumalaban.

Bridgestone Medical Center is a prestigious hospital.

And to be summoned in court will give the hospital a biggest scandal na siyang pinakaiiwasan ng may-ari ng hospital. A group of doctors were rumored that they were operating surgeries under the influence of alcohol. All of their patients received an unsuccessful operation.

Whereas, in their last consultation, they were told that they have a high probability of successful operation. No wonder why their family got shocked and enraged.

Sound of flipping pages. Footsteps from left to right. A crowd's nonstop yelling. Piles of papers.

“I'm starving... Bea, let's eat!” Attorney Rachel Santiago suddenly exclaimed, breaking the silence.

“You go first, susunod ako. She just gave Rachel a quick glance before rerouting her eyes back to her desk full of piles of papers.

Attorney Bea Fernandez smiled and nodded eventually.

As usual, he was wearing his poker face. Eyes still on his papers in front. Eyebrows slightly creased and lips tightly closed.

Bea still staring at him when he unconsciously pouted that made her eyes's go big. How cute! Attorney Collins just pouted. Who would have thought that a beast in court was capable of doing that.

She giggled silently.

Attorney Collins, on the other hand, noticed that he was stared at. That's when he fixed his composure and continue do his things like he didn't pouted at all.

When Bea return her gaze back to Attorney Collins, gone are those expression he had seen awhile ago. What she saw now was a figure of Attorney Collins with his not-pouty lips at all. Now, she wondered if what she saw minutes ago was real or she just simply seeing things. She must be out of her mind.

She composed herself and remove his thought of him before decided to invite him for a lunch.

“Ahm...” nahihirapang sambit nito. “W-we will eat lunch outside. Do you want to come with us?” nag-aalangang tanong pa nito. Receiving no response as usual, Attorney Bea find her way out. “I will go, then,” saad nito sabay lakad palabas. But it was still a bad habit, you know?

In that certain room, only Attorney Collins, Attorney Fernandez, and Attorney Santiago occupied the space.

Aside from that, you cannot let him talk.

He purposely distanced himself from them. He wants to keep their work private— no string attached. He is against the idea of friendship. For him, there is no such thing as friendship in court. Only person whom you can share the truth with or kind of person you have to distance yourself with. An ally or an enemy, there is nothing in between.

Wearing his civilian attire and his suitcase in his right hand with a backpack.

Ika nga nila, 'The brain works better in an empty stomach'. He was to focused on what he was doing that he failed to noticed his growling stomach.

He is just an only child.

He promised to himself that he will put his father's death into justice, he is still in search.

May mali, alam niyang may mali dito.

He was so deep in his thoughts that he almost forgot that he was in a middle of the shopping mall, sorrounded by a lot of people.

He composed himself.

He unloaded the cart and put all his groceries at the back of his car.

They were restless but still shouting at the top of their lungs in order for their cries of asking help to be heard by the authorities.

Sabi nga nila, 'If you want to be heard, then make some noise' na siyang ginagawa ngayon ng taumbayan. They were working on it. They did everything they can do in order to be heard.

They were somewhat felt hopeless sometimes but what makes them keep going are the thoughts that they can make it, that their sacrifices were  eventually paid off.

They were sending request for trial, every single day. Still consistent even though they slowly losing hoping. They already saw the ending of their case, it was just so unfortunate and they cannot take that, they refuse to accept.

So despite their rentless souls, they continue voicing out their thoughts and wait until their request will be heard. As Attorney Collins flipping up the pages, he saw the light of it. The evidence are sufficient, they just need a strong argument to win the case.

It was past 11 pm at his eyes awere too close to doze off.

He was too workaholic that he even forgot how to take a rest.
