MARCELLA’S POVThe rain remained consistently heavy throughout the night and early parts of the morning but had started slowing down now. I had just woken up from what seemed like the longest sleep I’ve had in weeks, I did my bathroom business and threw a pair of shorts and crop top on. I was already late for breakfast as the entire family was already at the table by the time I got there. “ … and I got hit in the thigh just when I left my hiding place behind the chair” uncle Tee was saying when I walked in, the rest of the family silently listening. I settled into a chair at my usual spot at the table without speaking to anyone.“ I was just telling them how I ended up being caught by the Mexicans” uncle Tee said to me.“ mmmmmhh” I hummed chewing on a piece of pancake. He understood that as my ‘I don’t care’ cue and continued his narration.“I was beaten and you know…stuff I don’t want to talk about” he shrugged then continued without waiting for anyone’s comment. “Their motive
ANTONIOS POVIt was midday and I wasn’t ready to move out of bed. I was not sleeping, I just lay in bed, eyes on the ceiling as my brain ran a marathon. A lot had happened over the past few weeks including the fact that I was getting a little distracted from my mission in Italy. I have been here for almost four months and I hadn’t taken any major decisions on my purpose in this country. I think my plans were perfect, I was just being a little too careful or maybe not. The men that tailed me the other day, I had no idea they were police officers. I had no business with the cops since my arrival, my mission to find out what happened six month ago had suddenly taken a different turn.No noise, no cops, but somehow I ended up killing two of their own, and I knew the consequences were dire, I had to get out of this place before it was too late.My image had been on the news for three days, I carefully avoided showing up in public unless absolutely necessary. I had also dismissed all my
ANTONIOS POV“I will get you a good deal if you give up Giovanni Russo or shall I say El Russo?” The detective said with a straight face. She looked serious, her focus not shifting from me. I remained silent with my arms folded across my chest, I didn’t know what it is that made them think I had any connections with El Russo.“…we have been trying to get him for years, but nothing I pin on him holds. Giovanni is very slippery he always has a way of avoiding prison. One thing I know though is that I will eventually be the one to put that man behind bars” she paused briefly and when I said nothing, she continued “Another thing I also know about is your relationship with his daughter, you see where this is going…” she leaned forward as she spoke.I chuckled “I have nothing to do with Marcella, and I do….”“ Don’t say another word Antonio…” Carlos, my good friend and lawyer said walking in with Alvarez behind. I sighed heavily as I lay back in the chair. “…I will take it from here” he ad
MARCELLA’S POVI woke up with a terrible headache, my jaw hurt and my entire body felt like I had just been run over by a truck. I rubbed my eyes aggressively as the memories of last night flooded my head. I was about to have a late breakfast when Zak’s men came to get me, I was told Zak wanted to take me out for a ride, I reluctantly dressed up and followed. We drove a while then stopped in a corner from where I could see a man being dragged into a police van. It was Antonio, his hands cuffed together at his back as he was escorted out of his house into the van. He looked weak for a moment, he looked defeated, his head bowed as he walked towards the car. I immediately unbuckled my seatbelt in an attempt to run to him, but Zak had locked the car. I kept struggling with him to unlock the car door, earning me a hard strike on the face. “Now that Antonio is out of the picture, maybe you can concentrate on keeping your promise to me by becoming my wife” he said clearly.“Fuck you” I s
MARCELLA’S POVA plate of baked eggs and sausage sat before me, I had no interest in eating. My headache made worse by the endless beeping of the alarm. “Drink up, your coffee would get cold” Alberta said.“I really don’t have appetite, this looks yummy though, thank you” I replied.“You and Antonio need to stop starving yourselves, it doesn’t solve any problems” she said.“Thank you” I said again as Alvarez came out of a room nearby and walked to the alarm by the door and turned it off.“I need to get this thing checked” he stated. Alejandro had beefed up security since moving here, but the alarm had become faulty, going off every few minutes without cause.“Yeah you should have it checked pleaaseeee, its tearing my brain apart” I complained.“I think that’s what we call a hang over” Alejandro said coming out of his room.“Uh, that’s so embarrassing “ I admitted.“Trust me, you didn’t say or do anything embarrassing last night, you were surprisingly very cute” Antonio said with a
ANTONIO’S POVIn a swift moment, I lifted her off the floor, her soft ass resting on my arms. She was quiet heavier than she looked making me grunt a little, but my attention was quickly shifted back to her lips as I took them in my mouth. She tasted like vanilla and ice. I started walking towards the bedroom without breaking the kiss, then I lay her gently on the bed. She watched me with soft cozy eyes that drew me in. I kept my eyes focused on hers as I slowly peeled off her dress, she licked her lips seductively leaving a trace of moisture on them. Soon, she was left in only her bra and black tongs, she looked hot and I couldn’t keep my eyes off her body. I moved over even more slowly and stroked my tongue along her jawline, a soft moan escaped her mouth urging me to go on. My tongue descended onto her neck as I nibbled hungrily on it ensuring I left my mark on her. My hand shifted to the space just between her thighs and I felt her desperate attempt to grind on my hand. I kne
MARCELLA’S POV“Hey Princess” Antonio called as soon as my eyes flung open. I shifted uneasily on the bed as I scanned the tray beside me. “I brought you breakfast “ he said looking pleased with his handiwork. “ here, take a bite, I made it myself” he urged presenting a half burnt bread. “Uh, sure that looks delicious” I said avoiding the bread by all means. “Come on its not that bad, just try it” he encouraged. I could tell he put a lot of effort into this tray of ashes, and I didn’t want him to feel bad so I went ahead and gave it a bite.“Urgh Its that bad Antonio” I said immediately spitting out the piece of bread and soothing my taste buds with a glass of juice.“Well I tried” he shrugged then took a bite.“Come on, I will make us breakfast” I said getting out of the bed a little too clumsily as I slipped causing the juice to spill on the bed.“ oh, I’m so sorry, I’m clumsy “ I apologized.“ its okay princess I’ve got this” he said and started cleaning up the mess.“Than
ANTONIO’S POV The rage in my heart was full blown as I shoved Alvarez aside. “ get out the fucking way!” I yelled descending the stairs to the basement. My heart pounding loudly from anger, my fingers coiled into a fist as I approached Lucas. He looked up at me just as my fist landed a heavy blow on his cheek sending blood flying from his mouth over the floor. He spat, then looked at me with confusion as I grabbed the collar of his shirt, my fist delivering continuous blows on the same cheek. The mans face was soon swollen, his eye lost in the valley of his swollen eyelids. An arm grabbed me from behind. “That’s enough Bravta, enough!” Alvarez pleaded pulling me away from Lucas. I breathed heavily allowing my nerves to relax. ‘Why?why?’ I thought. ‘ why would she insist on a topic I’ve clearly ask her to ignore.? Why does she want me to feel bad for what happened as if it wasn’t self defense. Why does she pity Lucas and not me?’ the questions run endlessly through my head.
MARCELLA’S POV We had been sitting for a little over two hours, all eyes fixed on my father, who seemed unconcerned. Mother held unto his hand tightly with a pleading look, but father remained unbothered. He wasn’t going to drop his pride, he wasn’t going to let go of ego and confess to me. “El Russo, speak?” Salvador asked in a demanding way when it had become obvious father wasn’t going to talk. “Alright then, I will take my wife…” He added pulling me up by the arm. “…and leave” “I am not going anywhere with you Alphonse!” I protested, clinging tightly to my seat as Alphonse tried to pull me up. “You are only going to make things complicated for your family. You either come with me now or…” “Or what?…” I snapped back at Alphonse. “What would happen huh, tell me!” I yelled courageously even though every cell within my brain screamed fear. “I owe you nothing! What ever arrangements you have is between you and El Russo, leave me out of it” “You are only a part of the debts
MARCELLA’S POV We sat motionless as the Mexicans paraded my fathers manor. I had no idea what had happened to the security men outside, but for now, it was just us against these ruthless men. Salvador did a complete walk around the table and stopped behind my mother’s chair. She looked terrified, her hand shakily came to her face as she wiped tears from her eyes. Salvador picked a picture or two from the table and looked at them carefully. “Sophia right?” He asked no one in particular. “Pfft, I never even got to meet her” he chuckled , putting the pictures down. “I woke up that day with a huge bandage on my abdomen, and I didn’t understand what was happening, I was too young! Too young to give consent for my body parts to be removed” he said in a tone that sounded almost like a scream. “When I was old enough to understand what had happened, I was very upset with my father, and no matter how he tried to convince me it was a good deal, I could never understand how a parent co
MARCELLA’S POV I turned abruptly towards to door, my heart beating loudly in my chest. ‘No. Theres no way, that cant be…’ I thought. My hands trembled and my palms became sweaty, I took a step back as the man got closer. “Hello! Wifey” Salvador said with a broad annoying smile. I was absolutely dumbfounded, fear stricken and in shock. I couldn’t decide my next words and Salvador was already at the table directly in front of me. He stood tall like a god that commands worship, his intimidating eyes pierced straight through mine. The smirk on his face left me totally confused, Was he angry? Was he pretending to be happy to meet me? What were his plans? “Don’t be too shocked” he said bringing his hands to my mouth. “Close your mouth …” he added guiding me to press my lips together as I didn’t realize they were wide open in disbelief. ‘This can’t be real, I have been hallucinating a lot lately, theres no way this is real’ I thought, then went ahead to pinch my arm. I winced s
MARCELLA’S POV Mother was still sobbing, Alejandro was rubbing her shoulders, in an attempt to comfort her. ‘Maybe that’s why he was their favorite child’. I thought, my fist clinched hard as I resisted every urge to rush to my mothers side. After a while she gathered composure, used a napkin to wipe her face and cleared her throat. I saw father brush a tiny drop of tear from the corner of his eyes, and I tried so hard to hide the shock on my face. In my twenty six years on earth, I had never seen El Russo sheared a tear and whatever this story was, my father seem to relate to it quite well as he wiped yet another tear from his eye. He tried to hide his little moment of weakness but it was too obvious, the great El Russo dropped not just a tear, but two. I drunk some water as mother cleared her throat again and begun to speak. “That little girls name was Sophia, our first child…” my eyes widened in shock, the water in my mouth spout out covering the plates before me. My broth
MARCELLA’S POV “You cant keep me in here for ever, open the damn door!” I yelled, my fist banging loudly on the door, yet there was no response. I had been in here for two days without food or water and I was getting weak. The harder I screamed and knocked on the door, the more energy I lost, and the more my fathers heart was hardened against me. “I am your daughter! Let me out of here” I pleaded with my last energy, I was drifting into unconsciousness when sharp rays of lights flooded the room from the corridor outside. The silhouette that formed at the door was that of a male. “Here, I’ve got you” he said lifting me up. “Antonio? You came for me?” I asked confused, for the the voice that came sounded exactly like Antonio’s. “Yes, I came, I am so sorry for leaving you alone” his voice soothing and comforting and even though he carried me on his strong arms, I still felt like I was laying on the rigid table in the room. My arm and neck hurt and I tried to adjust my self
ANTONIO’S POV “Why is everyone trying to kill us since we arrived here?” Alvarez asked as we drove back home. “Who did you offend again Mijo?” Mother asked worriedly from the back seat she and Gabriella occupied. “I didn’t offend anybody mother” I said trying to be calm. “Then why? Why would this happen at your Abuela’s burial ?” She questioned. “ I don’t know mother! Father had too many enemies I can’t tell which of them is trying to kill us” “ don’t you dare blame this on your father, he lived his life and is resting now, handle your issues Antonio!” “I am doing that, I literally just took over the mafia” “ its almost a year Antonio, this place is no longer safe for me…for us” “I Know…” I said giving her a look through the rearview mirror. “That is why I have decided to take you back with me to Italy” I added. “What? I cant just leave?” Mother said shifting forward in her seat. “Isn’t that too sudden Bravta?” Alvarez asked, his eyes fixed on the road. “There’
ANTONIOS POV Today was Thursday, my grandmothers funeral. The atmosphere around the house was gloomy, everyone was sad and grieving the loving and amiable person my Abuela was. She lived her life well and she would be missed dearly. I stepped out of the bathroom, allowing the water on my body to drip on the floor. The sun had begun rising , its rays peeping sharply through the sky’s blue garments. I threw on my attire for the day, a black suit with a matching black leather shoes. I drenched myself in some woody cologne and gave my self a final look before heading downstairs. The living room was well decorated with some of grandmother’s favorite flowers. Her casket lay on a table close to the dining area with seats arranged facing the casket. Mother had decided last minute to cut down the number of guests and to make it as quiet as possible. I approached the casket with firm steps, spent a few seconds absorbing grandma’s look for one very last time. She looked peaceful, a tiny sm
ANTONIO’S POV Its been a few days and Alejandros wound had healed well, but for a little limp in his gait, one couldn’t tell he was just shot in the thigh a few days back. Gabriella had been very helpful, taking care of Alvarez’s wound. She and mother had built a strong bond these last few days and they chatted easily like long time friends. I was slightly grateful for that as it helped mother go quickly through the grieving process. Abuela’s body was at the morgue and we had started preparations towards the funeral tomorrow. Mother had great help from Gabriella with preparations and arrangements. I had sent out invitations to a few family and friends and we expected a huge turn out. Grandmother was loving and welcoming, everybody loved her. It was sad to watch her go, but deep down, I was glad she could finally get some rest. “Glad to see you back on your feet man” I said to Alvarez as he approached me at the living room. “All thanks to you and Gabriella” he said flinching
MARCELLA’S POV My voice echoed across the room as I kept screaming for mercy. The silence was deafening and the sound of my own voice bouncing off the walls scared me, I decided it was better I remained quiet. The dark room sent chills down my spine, there was a single window high up in the wall through which I could see the moon. It wasn’t bright, a half moon almost completely covered by dark clouds as it threatened to rain. I knew there was surely light in the room, I just didn’t know where the switch was. I shut my eyes tightly , inviting more darkness as I tried to focus on the space I now find my self. That didn’t help so I opened them almost immediately. My plan was to keep to the walls and do a complete circle all the way back to the door. I kept my palm pressed against the wall as I took one gentle step after the other, sobbing quietly as I went round , trying hard to avoid looking towards the center of the room. By the time I got back to the door, I was desperate, ru
