Emily Thompson
I took the glass of drink from her and she frowned.
"What are you doing?" Jessica asked, looking stunned. Not only her but, everyone standing right there with us. Including my brother.
"I'm sorry but, you can't take this drink" I said.
"Emily, what... are you...doing?" Brandon asked through gritted teeth.
"The question should be directed to her" I point at Nancy before handing the glass of drink to her.
"What's the meaning of this nonsense?" She asked, still looking calm.
"Emily, stop this nonsense. This is someone's wedding for goodness sake" Janet remarked.
"I know that. And, I just saw her adding a substance to her drink."
"What?!!!"
"I think, it will be best if you ask her to take the drink instead"
"Are you saying, I tried poisoning my brother's wife?" Nancy asked."If not that, then what? Just sip the drink, that's all" I said with a shrugged shoulder, my eyes fixed on her.
"I think, I made the wrong decision asking you to come here" My brother, Brandon said in a disappointed tone. "You know what? You're leaving" he tried to drag me away with him but from nowhere, a strong yet, warm hand held my left arm.
I turned my head only to see Bryan staring deep into my eyes. My heart begins to flutter again because of his closeness and also, the look he was giving me.
I think I'm going crazy because I have no idea why I'm feeling this way toward him all of a sudden.
"I think, it will be best if you sip the drink just as she's said"
"Bryan!" Janet exclaimed but he raised his index finger, stopping her from saying another word.
"It's so disappointing none of you believed any of your sister's words" he looked at Brandon and Janet disappointed. "She's right because I also saw her adding a substance to her drink. Now, the question should be, what was the thing she added to her drink, or better still, she can take the drink herself to avoid being accused wrongly" he said, putting his hands in his pocket with a straight, cold look on his face.
Nancy, on the other hand, was hesitant with the drink in her hand as her hand begins to shake.
"Come on, take a sip" Bryan motioned her whilst the rest of us fixed our gaze on her.
"Y'all are sick for trying to paint me black here"
"Then prove me wrong" I said, motioning her to take the drink. "Come on, drink up"
She suddenly smashed the glass of drink on the floor, making it shattered and I sighed.
Her crazy actions have begun to attract the guest's attention also.
"Is this proof you wanted to kill your own brother's wife?" I asked with a calm expression on my face even though, I'm boiling from within.
I don't know why I keep meeting betrayed people, especially since yesterday. First, it was my boyfriend with my best friend, and now, a sister trying to kill her blood brother's wife.
"I'm out of here!" She hissed, making an attempt to leave but Fred, who hasn't said a word since the drama started stood in front of her, glaring hard at her.
"You have two options. First, tell me why you wanted to kill my wife or, I force you"
Nancy suddenly burst into heavy and wicked laughter, making us all look at her weirdly. "Did you just call her your wife? No! She is not your wife! I am your wife! Only I, deserve to be called your wife!" She burst angrily and tears begin to slip out of her eyes, and down her cheeks.
Before we could comprehend what was happening, someone from nowhere landed a hot slap across her face.
It was her mother.
"M... Mom" She called, caressing where she's been hit.
"You're a disgrace to this family! What in the world do you think you're doing?! How could you pull such a disgraceful attitude on your brother's wedding day?"
"He's not my brother!" She yelled. "Fred is not my brother! You told me that, Mom!!"
"What?!!" Fred looked shocked. Not only him, we all look shocked.
Even the guests in the hall begin to murmur. I'm sure, this will be on the news first thing tomorrow morning.
What did I just do!!- I thought, regrettably. I just can't stop blaming myself.
"Yes, Fred. I... I've always loved you! You've always been the best brother in the whole world to me. You treated me right with lots of care. I've always wished and prayed to have a boyfriend like you but, I was never lucky. Until... Until Mom told me someday that you're not part of the family. She told me, you were adopted by them. Seeing Dad giving you all the inheritance, she isn't pleased with it so, she asked me to get them back from you."
"I... I didn't want to go with her plans because I'm in love with you. I wanted to marry you so I can have you as mine. Please, let's just get married instead. You don't need another woman in your life! I... I can take good care of you, Fred. I can be the perfect wife to you" she beseeches as she clutches unto his arm tightly.
Oh my goodness! Did I just ruin a happy family all because I caught her adding a substance to a drink?
"Mom, tell me this is not true" Fred said, looking intensely at his mom but, she couldn't look him in the eyes.
"ANSWER ME!!!" He roared in anger. "Is... This... True?" He questioned again through gritted teeth.
"Son please, I can explain. It's not what you think-"
"I'm out of here" he left even before she could finish her statement. His family and wife hurriedly run after him whilst the people in the hall begin to murmur on several talks. Everyone says their mind and jumps to conclusions even though, none of them knows the full story yet.
I didn't just ruin the whole happy family thing, did I?- I thought, almost blaming myself.
But I reminded myself again that, I was only trying to help.
After he left, Brandon turned to face me with a hard look on his face. "You are coming home with me. Right this minute" he said in a stern tone.
I hurriedly hide behind Sky as he was the closest standing right next to me.
"Hey, she hasn't done anything wrong, you know. She saved a life. Someone could have died" he said, facing Brandon and protecting me from his outburst.
"She could have talked to me about it first!"
"There wasn't much time. She was about to sip the drink" I reasoned.
"I don't care! You're coming home with me"
"Instead, I will bring her home" A familiar voice said.
"Bryan!!!"
"No way!" Janet and I said in unison. The latter was me.
No way I'm going to be alone with him. Rather, I would allow Brandon to descend his anger on me for causing a commotion at his friend's wedding.
"Why should I go home with you?" I asked, facing him with a cold look on my face but, the brute just smirked at me.
"Baby girl, I'm trying to save you from your brother's wrath" he said in a calm tone, putting his hands in his pocket.
"I don't need your help. Besides, why should I leave when I just got here?"
"That's true, she doesn't have to leave you know. We still have a lot of catch-up to do. It's been long since we spent time together" Anthon remarked. "We can go to a nearby restaurant, a bar, or something" he added.
"But, we can't-"
"See you guys later" Bryan cut Janet off, grab my hand and drag me out of the hall with him. Even though I keep struggling to get out of his grip, he wouldn't let me go as he's too stronger than me.
"What do you think you're doing? Let go of my hand" I hissed but it was more like talking to a dumb person.
As we walk towards his expensive Lamborghini white car which, I was admiring even though I'm pissed at the owner, he suddenly pinned me between his body and his car.
My breath got hitched as I stared deep into his brown eyes. He smirked and tucks the falling hair on my face behind my ear. "Why are you always avoiding me?" He asked in a deep yet, sexy voice. His hand slides under my chin as he pulls my face closer to his.
I rolled my eyes at his comment. "Let's go of me, Bryan"
"I love the way my name rolled out of your mouth. Imagine calling me that on the bed whilst we have hot sex?"
"Your dream!"
"Why?" He asked, leaning his face closer, his nose touching mine.
My heart begins to pound fastly. For a moment, I thought he was going to kiss me.
"You think, it can't happen again? If it happened once then, it's going to happen again"
"You have no idea of what you're saying"
"Five years ago, the guy you gave your virginity to, is standing right in front of you" He said and my heart stopped working.
I stared at him in horror.
"W... What?!!"
"You knew, I was the girl you had a one-night stand with?" I asked.
"I remember every little detail of what happened between us that night. How innocent you look under me on that bed. The way you screamed out my name and pleading me to give it to you harder or, the way you held my dick in that soft ha-"
"Enough! Enough, Bryan. I do not want to listen to any of your dirty talks anymore"
"Why? Are you scared history might repeat itself?" He asked.
"I don't know what you're talking about and please, stop following me around. You came for a wedding right? And, I ruined it. So please, go back to Los Angeles, and don't ever show your face to me again"
I push him out of my way so I can leave but, he pulls me back to his body again.
This time around, I am wrapped in his arms. He held my waist tightly like his life depends on it.
I was only trying to escape from him so he won't realize how much effect he has on me but, he isn't ready to let me go.
"You dare tell your husband to be never to show his face to you again?"
"W... What?!!!"
Did that statement just slip out of his mouth or, is he drunk already?
He let go of me and rest his back on his car, his hands fold across his chest as he stared at me, amused.
A satisfied smirk plaster on his face too. "You mean, your parents haven't told you we will be getting married in two weeks?"
"WHAT NONSENSE ARE YOU BLABBING, BRYAN?!!!" My lip begins to tremble as threatening tears welled up in my eyes.
