The sky over the De Luca estate was a brooding slate of ash and violet.

Thunder threatened. The kind of weather that promised something was about to break.

Vincenzo stood in the center of the war room with Lucas, Gianni, and three of his top captains. A map of the city lit up beneath their hands.

“The Riccis are moving fast. Elene’s taken command and she’s already rerouting the surviving factions to close in by dawn,” Gianni said, his voice tight.

Lucas added, “The Saturns are ghosting. Not a single movement. Which makes them even more dangerous.”

“She’s planning something,” Vincenzo muttered.

“Smart woman,” one of the men scoffed.

“She’s my problem,” Vincenzo said sharply. “You worry about the Riccis.”

The room fell silent.

Vincenzo turned away, his fingers twitching toward the gun strapped beneath his blazer.

Outside, Noel stood in the hallway, listening through the slightly cracked door.

He wasn’t supposed to hear.

But he needed to.

He needed to know what kind of monster he’d falle

The city buzzed with neon lights and the bass-heavy thump of music spilling onto the crowded streets. Inside Noir, the most exclusive club in town, bodies moved to the rhythm, lost in a haze of alcohol and desire.Noel Laurent leaned against the bar, fingers wrapped around a glass of something stronger than his heart could handle. His best friend, Aria, had practically dragged him here, insisting he needed a distraction.Distraction. Right."Come on, babe," Aria nudged him playfully. "You look like a kicked puppy. You’re way too cute to be sulking over that asshole ex."Noel scoffed, rolling the glass between his hands. Julian. The name alone left a bitter taste in his mouth."He was never worth your time, man," Nico added, tossing back a shot. "You need a rebound. Hell, get two."Noel exhaled sharply, shaking his head. "I just want to drink in peace.""That won’t last long," Aria smirked, her eyes flicking toward something…or someone…behind him. "Because you’ve got eyes on you, babe.

"Who the hell are you, and why am I half-naked in your bed?!"Noel’s panicked scream shattered the peaceful morning silence.Vincenzo groaned, his arms instinctively tightening around the squirming warm body pressed against him. He wasn’t a morning person…especially not when someone was yelling in his ear at seven in the goddamn morning."Shut up," Vincenzo muttered, voice thick with sleep.Noel did not shut up.Instead, he thrashed harder, elbowing Vincenzo in the ribs before rolling out of his grip and tumbling off the bed.Thud."Ow, fuck!"Vincenzo cracked one eye open, peering over the edge of the bed. "You good down there, drama queen?"Noel sprung up, clutching a pillow to his bare chest as if it would protect him from whatever the hell was going on. His wide, sleep-ridden eyes darted around the ridiculously massive bedroom, trying to process.Marble floors. Floor-to-ceiling windows. A ridiculously expensive chandelier. And an even more ridiculously expensive man lying in bed,

"You’re really testing my patience, Noel."Vincenzo exhaled sharply, fingers tightening around the steering wheel of his black Aston Martin parked outside Noel’s dorm. The soft glow of the streetlights barely reached the darkness inside the car, but his eyes were sharp, locked on the entrance. It had been weeks. Weeks of relentless gifts, money, extravagant gestures…he had even fucking bought Noel a penthouse, and the damn brat refused it. Not even a "thank you." Just silence. It was driving him insane. And yet... this defiance. This ridiculous, stubborn rejection... it turned him on more than it should."What the fuck are you doing to me, pretty boy?" he muttered to himself. He leaned back, rubbing his jaw. He’d sent for Noel multiple times, and every night, the same answer: Noel Laurent will not be coming downstairs. His patience was wearing thin. Then, movement. His eyes snapped to the entrance.Noel.Vincenzo sat up immediately. "You’re late." The voice was cold, sharp like a blade, and it made Noel’s stomach churn. He hadn’t even stepped inside yet. His fingers curled into fists at his sides as he stood frozen outside the grand three-story house, his childhood prison. The sight of it alone made his chest tighten, the air around him suddenly feeling too thin. He hated this place. The memories clawed at him, dragging him back. The shouting matches in the kitchen, plates shattering against walls, his mother’s piercing screams. He used to squeeze his eyes shut, hands pressed tightly over his ears, wishing it would stop. But it never did. Sometimes, she took her anger out on him instead. A slap across the face, a yank of his arm, and then the dreaded sound of the basement door unlocking. "You like hiding so much? Stay there." Cold. Cramped. Suffocating. His breath would quicken, his chest tightening as the shadows pressed in on him. He'd claw at the door, scream until his voice went hoarse, but no on

Noel woke up alone. The sheets were soft. The pillows cold. The room was luxurious…too quiet, too untouched. Not the De Luca estate. A private hotel suite, high above the city. His throat burned. His ribs ached. And Vincenzo was nowhere in sight. He sat up slowly, hand clutching the sheets. Dried blood still clung to the side of his neck, his wrists ached from the rope burns. He walked barefoot to the tall windows. Outside, the city looked too peaceful. But peace never lasted in his world. At the De Luca estate, Don Ramon’s phone rang. Private line. One of only three people had the number. He picked up, silent. The voice on the other end was cold silk.“I warned your son, Don Ramon.”His jaw tensed.“That boy he stole from me... you should’ve told him to stay out of Saturn affairs. But now, blood will answer blood.”“You dare threaten my family?”“I don’t threaten. I vow. Your empire is crumbling, and you’re too old to rebuild it. But the sheets were cold.Noel wasn’t beside him.He hadn’t been for two days.Lucas entered, silent as ever, but even he didn’t try to mask the tension tonight.“They moved him again.”Vincenzo’s hand tightened around the Glock. “Where?”“The Saturns are ghosts. But there’s talk. A private estate north of the valley.”“You’re sure?”Lucas shook his head. “I’m never sure when it comes to them.”Vincenzo stood. Shirtless. Bruised. Hair loose, shadowing his face.“I’m going.”“Alone?”“You think they’ll let me bring an army?”Lucas said nothing. Just walked forward and slipped something into his pocket.A photo.Noel. Barely 17. His comms crackled."Contact. North gate.""Copy that," Vincenzo’s voice came sharp in his ear. "Initiate lockdown."Security alarms buzzed in short, silent pulses. Hidden gates slammed shut. Armed men moved into position. This wasn’t a defense. This was an ambush.Inside, Vincenzo snapped a magazine into place and turned to Noel."You stay in the master study.
