LOOKING FOR ME?

(ANNIE’S POV)

Perhaps when Grandma said that things would get better the next day, maybe she meant worse and she did not know it. Because things were definitely worse this time around. It seemed like the pairs of eyes that now followed me were more. I tried my best walking with my head up and shoulders high. I used my map to navigate myself until I got to my first class. The class almost full when I got there and as I went in, I made a mental note to myself to start coming very early.

The class which had been bubbly was now quiet and I felt like all eyes were on me.

“Hy.” I said in a low voice to the teacher as I gave her the slip.

“Hello.” She said kindly taking the slip from me and then going through it.

Her eyes widened when she saw the slip and I wondered why because there was nothing about me being the chosen one on the slip. It was just my name. Except everyone now knew who I was.

“You can have a seat.” She said with a smile as she handed it back to me.
