(ANNIE’S POV)The keepers had their eyes on me and I tried my best not to feel intimidated by the hard stares I was getting. But when I looked at Kelt, he broke his gaze away from me and I could not help the part of me that felt very uncomfortable about it all . That just made me feel like some kind of negative decision had been made.Terra cleared her throat and I knew that she was about to say something. “Annie, it was really good to hear you step up and agree to take your responsibility . But I am sorry to tell you that the keepers have come to a unanimous decision.” Terra started saying and the moment she apologized, I knew that the decision was not nice. I held my breath and I knew that grandma was holding her breath as well.“I am sorry but we can not let you to take on the responsibility of being the chosen one. We have to relieve you of it.” She said.I heard grandma gasp from behind me and even though I had an idea of what Terra meant by what she had just said, I needed mo
(ANNIE’S POV) When I woke up, I felt a little weighed down to think of the keepers decision but then I put it aside and decided to get ready for my day at school. As I came downstairs from my room, i was geeeted with a nice aroma of delicious food. I went in to the dining room to see that grandma was set a very full and wonderful looking table. There were omelettes, spicy roast, vegetables, fruit juices and a fruit bowl on the table. “Good morning my baby.” Grandma said to me as she looked up from setting the table when she noticed that I had come in. I looked around in a lot of surprise . “Good morning Grandma. This smells so good. What is going on? My birthday is not until about seven weeks at most.” I said laughing. “And when that comes, we will celebrate you in an even grander style.” She said with a beam. I walked to her to give her a kiss on her cheek and she held my face with both of her hands. “I just want you to know how proud I am of you. Despite what the k
(ANNIE’S POV)I felt the panic grow more in me as I realized the reason why I was getting so much stares from everyone around me. They were whispering to each other and looking as they walked back and I could not even tell how they felt about it. I started to feel very uncomfortable and I wished that the ground could open up and just swallow me. “Oh no.” I said feeling a lot of anxiety as I stood in the middle of the chaos. “This is not okay. Maybe I should just go back and stay at home today .” I suggested as my confidence level dropped.“No you should not.” Jessica said to me in a stern tone. “You will be fine, okay? Don’t mind them. It doesn’t matter what they say or what they are thinking.” I did not feel good at all and so I shook my head at her. “I don’t know if I can go through this Jessica. It’s just the early hours of the day and already I wish I could disappear in to thin air.” I explained to her. “ I just feel I don’t think they want me here.” I said giving another glan
(ANNIE’S POV) As the rest of the day went by, I learned to appreciate what Seth’s presence brought to me. He was there all the time and he sat beside me through all the classes. Even the teachers seemed distracted by my presence and though that did not help matters, Seth made sure that he was there for me and he noticed me each time that I began to feel uncomfortable. He would hold my hand and smile at me. To be honest, those smal moments were the highlight of my day. I had no idea how I was going to go through the day without him being around. When lunch came, he was still walking to the cafeteria with me until someone shocked me by throwing an arm around my shoulder. Even Seth was shocked and when we both turned to see that it was Jessica, he rolled his eyes. “What a great entrance Jessica. Really, well done .” He said to her in a dry tone. She scoffed at him. “What exactly is your problem uncle grumps?” She asked “You scared Annie.” Seth said in a straight tone and sh
(ANNIE’S POV) I was relieved when I was back home and back in the solace of my room. I wished that I had my music player with me or my phone to help me calm down. But since I did not, I remained in bed and stared at the ceiling. My life was different now. No matter how hard I tried I could not stop thinking of my parents or of being the chosen one. Something in me was angry that I got turned down by the keepers. What would my parents think? Would they be disappointed in me? Would my mother pay me a visit in another dream? I wished that she would. “You are not very security conscious.” A low voice interrupted my deep thoughts and I gasped and jumped up quickly in a defense position. Alpha Vane stood before me. As usual, he was dressed in black and his dark eyes were fixed on me portraying no emotions at all. “What the? What are you doing here?” I asked in a start. I could not even tell if my window was open. I did not even know when he had slipped in to the room. I strai
(ANNIE’S POV)“Are you sure their daughter is called Janelle Grandma?” I asked her as I returned my face to its frozen state so that Grandma could go on with applying some powder. We were finally going to finish our hour long make up session grandma had just done for me in preparation for this welcome party.“Yes I’m sure. She’s their only child and her name is Janelle.” Grandma said.“And are they very rich?” I inquired.“Oh yes, right from time they have always been Rich.” Grandma said.“Then it has to be her.” I said and then sighed. “This is all just crazy Grandma. She has been nothing but mean to me all these time and now her family is hosting my welcome party? I bet we would have hosted our own welcome party Grandma.”My whining and complaints was interrupted by the sounds of someone knocking on the door.Grandma set aside the brush and went to get the door while I picked up a mirror to look at her work. My grandma is very good with make up. She taught me how to apply make up an
(ANNIE’S POV)Truly, I could tell why Jessica really emphasized on the wealth of Janelle’s family. As we walked up to the estate, a sense of timelessness washed over me. The wrought-iron gates, adorned with intricate vines and crests, creaked open with a groan, revealing a cobblestone driveway that stretched into the distance. The towering oak trees, their branches reaching towards the sky, cast long, dancing shadows across the manicured lawns. The mansion was a masterpiece of architectural grandeur. Its weathered façade hinted at centuries of history.“Wow.” I could not help but say.“I know right. Come on, there’s more inside .” Jessica said giggling as we linked our arms together and she lead me towards the entrance. A grand double door, flanked by ornate columns, beckoned me inside. As I stepped through, the air was filled with the scent of freshly cut flowers and the distant murmur of conversation. The interior was a stunning blend of old-world elegance and modern comfort. Hig
(THIRD PERSON’S POV)“He’s here! Oh my goodness! I swear I can’t believe that he is here!” Marie hurried in and closed the door behind her as she announced to her friends, Janelle and Kiko.“Are you serious? I can’t fucking take a joke right now!” Janelle said as she stood up in an instant.“No I’m not joking. I went downstairs to get some wine for myself and I heard the servants talking. I didn’t belive at first because you know that he never comes for all these social events. But then I just went a little ahead and there he was.” Marie said excited as she looked dreamily in to the thin air.“I have to change my dress.” Janelle announced immediately as she stalked to her closet room. The first time in forever that Alpha Vane was here gracing everyone with his presence at a party and it was at her own house? How lucky was she? Marie and Kiko chatted excitedly about Alpha Vane’s presence and then Janelle popped her head outside the curtains.“Where is the wine?” She snapped at Marie.
