Naa Larley decided to tell her friend the truth. What was the point hiding it anyway? Louisa was bound to find out sooner than later and it was best she find out from herself than from another source.
Clearing her throat uneasily, she said. "So I had an appointment around 6am with one William Blankson and a Regina Aryee. To be honest, I didn't give it much thought, but then when my assistant and I arrived at our meeting spot, I had a bad feeling about the meeting, so I asked her to go in my stead."Louisa listened raptly and signalled for her friend to continue when she saw signs of hesitation.Naa Larley sighed. "It's not good Louisa. William is getting married, and he's asking for my event planning team to plan the wedding.""Of course, I'm not going to take the offer though. I know how you felt abou-" She was suddenly interrupted by her friend."You'll do no such thing Naa. You're going to take that offer and I don't want to hear anything else.""But-""But nothing Larley. It'll be a good opportunity for the business, and you're not going to refuse it because of me. Besides I'm good. I'm just worried he'll find out about Isa, and I can't have that." Louisa replied nervously biting her fingernails in the process. She tended to do that when she was nervous or worried.Naa Larley glanced sympathetically at her friend. "I'm going to make sure he doesn't find out about her, Louisa."She had no choice but to agree, for she knew her friend and the stubborn woman wasn't going to change her mind. "Alright Louisa, I hear you girl. I'll take the offer."Louisa nodded. "Good. Now come over here and give me a hug. I could really use one now." They both laughed as Naa Larley squeezed her best friend in a tight hug.Naa Larley grinned. "I got you girl. Always."*******Louisa had been busy all day, work kept coming in in torrents, so much so that by 5pm, she was exhausted. She now had to drive home and with the 6pm traffic, she'd definitely be home by 8. She felt like a disappointment, for she had promised Isabel she'd be home earlier so they could hang out.All through the drive home, Louisa's mind kept flitting back to William no matter how much she tried to stop thinking about him. She wondered how he looked like now; if he had grey hair like she had started to have. It had been fifteen long years, and he was two years older than she was, meaning he'd be forty seven now. And he was going to get married.Married.How come he hadn't done so sooner? Her mind went back to when they were together. He had looked so in love with her. Did their relationship not mean anything to him? Did he even still remember her?A tear slipped down her pretty face, and she angrily wiped it off.No. She wasn't going to cry for a man.Never again. Will could do whatever he wanted, she didn't care anymore.Louisa arrived home just as Melissa's nanny was dropping by to pick her home. For the past two weeks, the sweet chubby teen had been spending all her afternoons at their place and to Isabel's delight, she was becoming more confident and assertive as the days passed."Good evening Mrs. Amoah. How are you doing today?" Louisa asked the older woman as she stepped into the hall."Evening Louisa. I'm doing alright by His grace. I take it you had a busy day today right?" The older woman asked.Louisa sighed as she took off her heels."The busiest, Mrs. Amoah. I didn't even realise it was late."The two women exchanged small talk till Melissa came down and they had to leave. But before they could, Mrs. Mensah appeared from the kitchen asking Mrs. Amoah if they could hang out the following day. The two women had gotten pretty close in the past two weeks. So much so that Mrs. Amoah sometimes spent the whole day at the Mensah's abode after she dropped Melissa off at school.Mrs. Amoah beamed. "Of course Adelaide. I have nothing doing tomorrow so it'd be a good respite for me."Mrs. Mensah nodded gratefully. "Alright. You should get going then. Bye Melissa, and Agnes don't forget to take your pills when you get home."Mrs. Amoah groaned noisily. "You sound just like Melissa, Adelaide. I can't have two of you. Jeez."Everyone laughed. It was nice to see that the older woman and her ward had repaired their relationship, and Louisa was sure that was a factor for Melissa's newfound confidence and she couldn't help but feel glad. After the duo had left,Louisa quizzed her mother on her daughter's whereabouts."Oh. Isa? She's upstairs sulking. Apparently, someone broke her promise so..." Mrs. Mensah teased.Louisa decided to ignore her mother and go check up on her daughter, but before she could climb the stairs, her mother growled, "Don't even think about leaving your stuff on the couch today young lady. Because I wouldn't say a word, I'd just fly them out of the house onto the streets where someone would find them and show them the appreciation they deserve."Louisa stopped in her tracks and made a U-turn for her belongings complaining incoherently like a child in the process. After she had put her stuff in her room, she headed for her daughter's and with a brief knock she entered the room.Isabel sat at the study desk reading a book not even glancing at her mum."Hey Isa."No answer."Won't you even look at me?"Still no answer, not even a flick of the head in her mother's direction."I come bearing gifts." Louisa continued pulling the tub of Pinkberry ice cream from behind her as she crept closer to her daughter. That seemed to do the trick, for the teenager stood up and inched closer to her mum with arms outstretched silently asking for the ice cream.Louisa laughed. "Well, no ice cream until I get a hug and a you are forgiven mummy."Isabel sighed tiredly, pretending to be so bored, and put her arms around her mother who started to tickle her causing her to burst in a fit of giggles."Stop mum. Stop it." She laughed helplessly. But her mum was relentless."You're forgiven mummy." She said when the tickling had thankfully stopped and she had come down from her laughing fit."I'm very sorry Isa, I didn't realise time had flown by so fast." Louisa apologised."It's alright Mum. I wasn't really mad at you. I just felt hurt that you broke your promise."Louisa sighed and hugged her daughter again. "I'll try harder not to break my promise in future. At the very least, I'd call and let you know when something comes up."Mother and daughter were close.Pretty close.Very very close.Perhaps it was because there was no father figure in her life. The thing was, Isabel had constantly asked where her father was, and Louisa didn't have the heart to tell her daughter the truth for she had loved Will very much, she still did but she wasn't going to admit it to herself, and she didn't want the beautiful child they had both created to hate her father even though he had done such a despicable thing. So she had lied. Claimed it was a one night stand and that she didn't remember who her father was but assuring the teen that she was the best thing that could have ever happened to her, which was nothing but the truth. The two got comfortable on the floor and dug into the ice cream filling each other in on what happened during the day, with past transgressions quickly forgiven and forgotten.Louisa woke up with a start, all bothered and sweaty. She had been having a wet dream.Again.Ever since she had heard that Will was in town, she just couldn't stop thinking about him.But she had to. She chided herself. The insensitive bastard was getting married, and he had broken her heart. Nothing could repair their relationship but her subconscious wouldn't accept that. With a sigh, She grabbed her phone from her bedside drawer and checked the time.It was 4:30 am. She definitely wasn't going to be able to go back to sleep anymore, even if she tried.Today was a Saturday, meaning she had no work, so she figured she'd just while away time by doing some cleaning. She had promised Isabel that they'd go out later in the day, and she couldn't wait. They hadn't hanged out in a long time.By 8am, the whole family was up, and breakfast had already been had. Louisa and her daughter were going to the Efua Sutherland Children's park. There was a show goi
"Haha okay, you got me this time." Naa Larley rolled her eyes sarcastically as she pulled her chair back and took a seat.Louisa just couldn't stop laughing."You see how karma is honey? We almost canceled today because of you."The duo were on their usual lunch date at Jerry's and it had been Naa's turn to be late hence the laughter and mock anger.Louisa had been lucky. She had been in court the whole day so she had come straight from there."I can see you haven't ordered yet." Naa Larley muttered as she eyed her friend's glass of orange juice."Yes, yes." Louisa teased. "I'm not a foodie like some people who can't wait for their friends to show up before they get something to eat. "Naa shrugged. "Meh. You still love me anyways so..."The two laughed."Okay, so now tell me how your weekend went." Naa Larley stated as soon as the waiter had come for their orders.Louisa wished the ground would swallow her up. The question had come
"Morning Akua." Louisa greeted her assistant as she briskly walked to her office. The poor woman could barely keep up."Morning Louisa. Here's your coffee"Louisa gratefully took the plastic cup from her assistant and quizzed her on the day's itinerary."Uh...you have to meet up with Mr. Asante and his lawyers, and you promised to be on Jeannette's co-defense council meaning you have to go to court.""Ughhh." Louisa groaned."It's today? The days seem to be flying by so fast."Placing her bag down and settling down in her chair, Louisa massaged her temples as she waited for her assistant to get comfortable in the chair opposite her.Akua scrolled down her iPad ."Oh and Louisa, one Mr. Ayettey called to book an appointment. Should I clear him for today?"Louisa sipped on her coffee with an indecipherable look on her face. Oh so he still has my card. After a whole week, he calls to make an appointment and thinks I'll be at his beck and cal
"Don't tell me you're not going to have breakfast today too." Mrs. Mensah stated as she glared at her daughter. It was a Wednesday morning and the older woman was busily cleaning the kitchen counter.Louisa tried her best not to roll her eyes. She didn't know why her mum always bothered to get her to eat in the mornings and she voiced out her feelings.Isabel sat at the dining table digging into her cereal obnoxious to what was going on around her. She couldn't handle anymore bickering between her mum and grandmother especially over the same issue.Mrs. Mensah continued. "Louisa breakfast is an important meal in the day. You simply can't skip it."This time Louisa rolled her eyes for real. She had had enough, so to humor her mother she grabbed an apple from the fresh fruit stand."There mum. Happy now?" She asked sarcastically. Her mother grinned. "Very much."Isabel quickly washed her bowl and headed upstairs for her school bag while her mother an
"Louisa." The man standing before her breathed out.Louisa couldn't move. After fifteen solid years, she was meeting the love of her life all over. Granted, she knew she'd definitely meet him again after a while, but then after ten years she had started to relax, resigning herself to the fact that she'd probably never see him again. After all, he had come into her life and made a sad period of time a very happy one, not forgetting the gift of life he had left her with-Her only love, Isabel. She had assumed that he was just one of those people, the type who came into your life for a while but were not meant to stay and she had learnt to accept that.Seeing him now, a lot of feelings rushed through her body- anger, nerves, disbelief, joy, love, and all at a pace she had no control of. She didn't know what to do, what to think. Of course the only thing she could do was stare.William Blankson couldn't believe his eyes. His Louisa stood before him, looking almost the same
William woke up very early the next morning. Throwing the covers off his body and trying to sit up, he stole a glance at the sleeping figure lying next to him. She was still soundly asleep. He padded into the bathroom to brush his teeth, trying as much as possible to avert his eyes from the mirror which seemed to mock him. He wasn't even fifty yet but a considerable amount of grey hair had began showing, especially at his sides. His once vibrant eyes were looking tired now and the dark circles under them didn't help at all, they must have shown up due to his inability to sleep the night before. The bathroom was splendid really, spacious, finely tiled in white and the entire setting was well put together. The shower had a huge shower head and there was a Jacuzzi in the corner and a toilet. The bathroom mirror was very large, with a medicine cabinet and all the other necessities. It was a very beautiful room.He stepped into the shower and turned it on full blast, settling f
It was a Friday night, and William and his fiancee had decided to spend it with a couple of movies and some serious cuddling. William had come around eventually and he had realised that he was being unfair to Reggie. All the woman had ever done was love him and give him her all and the very least he could do was show her some appreciation and stop being an ungrateful ass.The living room was beautiful and very plush. It had all the evidence of a bachelor pad but luckily for William, Reggie wasn't really bothered by that. On the outside, she seemed like the perfect girly girl, hell she was a supermodel, but indoors, she could switch it up, forget about the glam, and really kick ass during video games and Will loved that. She was just like Louisa in that aspect.William realised where his brain had strayed to and did everything possible to halt its progress. He had promised her he'd stay away but that was going to be hard to do if he couldn't get her out of his mind."O
Saturday dawned bright and early and Naa Larley groaned tiredly as she felt the room brighten with sunlight."Wake up...It's morning." She heard Louisa gush as she hastily turned to her side and used a pillow to cover her face."I don't know how you're so energetic this early in the morning but please get out and lemme sleep. " She complained bitterly. But Louisa was undeterred, pausing briefly from her active task of opening the curtains, she stated. "But you said we'd think of what to do with the girls today. You said we'd have so much fun with you here and a-""I know I know...But I'm sure it's only six o'clock. We have the whole day and you know I don't joke with my weekend sleep... plus I can't even have coffee so lemme catch some extra shuteye- thirty minutes I promise." Naa Larley pleaded.Louisa sighed. "Well alright, I'll be downstairs, but just so you know it's eleven, not six."The duo had slept really late last night, all plans of sleep had
REGGIE AND CHRIS- New Beginnings “So you’re trying to tell me that our child is perfectly fine?” Chris asked in complete confusion. “Yes, Mr. Ayettey…” The doctor assured him with a wide grin. “But, I thought bleeding was a sign of a miscarriage,” Reggie interrupted, equally confused. “It is, but that is not always the case, Mrs. Ayettey—” “Oh, uh… we’re not married.” She corrected, a light blush coating her cheeks… one that had Chris grinning like an awestruck idiot. “My apologies, then. Anyway, as I was saying… bleeding isn’t always a sign of a miscarriage. It can be sign of implantation of the embryo in the uterus, like yours was… there are other reasons for bleeding during pregnancy, but I wouldn’t want to bore you to death with all of that.” He finished. “But I thought implantation and everything that had to do with that occurred in the first trimester?” Reggie asked after a moment’s thought. “Yes, great question.”
REGGIE AND CHRIS- BleedingTwo whole months. Two whole months since the incident, and things were just as tensious as before. So much so that Chris was already so full of regret. If someone had told him that his short outburst would have launched such a devastating aftermath, he probably would have called them a liar, but things were actually that bad.Reggie did not talk to him.Like at all.She didn’t eat his foods, choosing instead to live off fruits and vegetables, and other stuff that didn’t require much any complex skill. The tension had been so unbearable that Chris had gotten a housemaid to come live with them. He was the one who had ruined their budding relationship,She didn’t have to suffer for it?Fortunately, Reggie had hit it off with the maid, Janet… so at least Chris didn’t have to worry about that aspect of their life anymore. He had someon
REGGIE AND CHRIS- Beautiful start, ugly endChris had always thought that Deidre was a woman! So he hadn’t even bothered to meet her after allowing her access into his house. You can imagine his surprise therefore when he suddenly heard purely masculine laughter wafting into his study. He had been surprised and curious, and so he had decided to go and take a look, hiding his intentions under the guise of wanting to know what Reggie wanted to have for lunch. There sat Deidre, a complete man all right, but with an interesting twist.Chris slowly felt his anxiety ebb somewhat as he made his way to the kitchen to get started on lunch.Deidre was no competition? The revelation that he had been worried that Reggie might have another love interest after William really unsettled the man though. What exactly did it mean?He honestly didn’t care. Really, he didn’t.Liar.
REGGIE AND CHRIS- DeidreReggie tried to keep her cool as she watched Deidre alight from his rickety car.If someone ever told her that she’d be this excited to hear and see the car that had annoyed her pretty much over the past two years, Reggie would have called the person a serious liar and probably would have had them charged for treason, or maybe worse… like cast into the dungeons. But here she was, truly fawning over it, and barely being able to do something about it.“So you dump all the work on me and take off on some Cinderella adventure, leaving me to deal with the real world, huh?” Deidre started dramatically as soon as he stepped out of the car. “See? I had always known you were a bitch.”Reggie laughed and wrapped her arms around her assistant in a hug. “Oh, Deidre… what a dramatic way to tell me you have missed me.” She teased. “You know, you could have just said the words
REGGIE AND CHRIS- Thinking things, seeing thingsFor the first time since she got here, Chris spent the entire day with her!Well, it wasn’t exactly the entire day since it wasn’t even two o’clock yet. What Reggie meant was that even after they had had breakfast, the handsome hunk still hung around the living room like some ghost… instead of locking himself in his study like he usually did, even though there was some kind of tension in the air after his outburst about liking how she enjoyed his meals. That tension had put a bit of a strain on the flow of their conversations, so they weren’t really talking. Plus, Reggie had her phone back so she was much more focused on letting the few people she had in her life know that she hadn’t vanished off the face of the earth. She was pretty sure that her mother had kept most of them posted, but just a text wasn’t bad, and so that was exactly what she was d
REGGIE AND CHRIS- The ruined breakfastReggie had never been this bored in her life!It had already been a week since she agreed to her baby daddy’s crazy proposition and she could swear that she was already starting to regret the decision. You see, Reggie had always felt that the housewife kind of life was never meant for her.And the past week had proved her completely right! But at least things would have been a bit more bearable if she was seeing said baby daddy often. The man mostly kept to himself, meeting her in the dining room for breakfast and lunch and supper only, and then shutting himself in his study for the rest of the day.He was with her in the house, but it for sure didn’t feel like it to the supermodel.Plus, without her phone or laptop, Reggie had only television to keep her company through the lonely times, and she wasn’t much of a TV person so you can just imagine how lonely she
REGGIE AND CHRIS- The PropositionReggie finished the whole carton of apple fruit juice and the packet of biscuits, much to her pleasant surprise. She hadn’t eaten that well in days, and she honestly felt so much better already.Chris on the other hand was very pleased. He had been covert in his observations, but seeing the annoying vixen eat and knowing that she was doing it to sustain herself and his unborn child was doing something to his insides. He was feeling so high, he wanted to climb to the highest mountain to shout that he was going to be a father. He still couldn’t believe it!It truly felt too good to be true. But at this point, he was done trying to make sense of the mechanisms of fate. He was going to do his best to make sure that the cards he had been dealt with worked in his favor. He heard Reggie clear her throat shyly, the action snapping him out of his thoughts.“I-I didn&rsq
REGGIE AND CHRIS- Things are going to changeHonestly speaking, when Chris opened the door and found her missing, and checked the bathroom and washroom and didn’t find her there, he knew right there and then that she had left. But he still wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt. And so he had gone out and searched the hospital halls, checked other wards… asked the nurses even. But no one had seen her.He had returned back to her ward and checked the drawers after his search had yielded no response, and that was when he had found that her clothes and car keys gone.Chris grinned. For some reason he thought this would have been an easy task. He had forgotten for a moment just how annoying the supermodel was, he really should have known that she wasn’t just going to sit back and do his bidding just because he had said so.Oh, but he had a plan. She was definitely going to move in with him,
REGGIE AND CHRIS- The escapeReggie stared at Chris in total confusion.“What the hell are you talking about? What child?”Chris studied her, looking for any signs of acting or… something, but he realised that she was genuinely confused. “You didn’t know?” He asked her.She shook her head.“Well, you’re pregnant.” He confirmed. “Now, I didn’t think it was my place so I haven’t called William yet, that’s assuming it’s even his in the first place…”Reggie wasn’t listening to a single thing the man was saying, her brain was furiously doing calculations and making deductions. She had missed her period, but she didn’t really think much of it.She had blamed her stress and crazy resting and eating patterns for the skip. Plus it usually happened, so it wasn’t really anything out of the ordinary. Fu
