BONUS CHAPTER (II) part one
“Isabel!! Are you done?” Louisa hollered at her daughter from downstairs, her head shaking in slight irritation.
She couldn’t believe the sixteen year old. Her own prom night, and she was late.
Christian Senior High, Isabel’s school didn’t really follow the Ghanaian norms when it came to doing things.
They had homecoming, wrote GSCE’s and did other things most secondary schools in Ghana didn’t do.
They were technically an international institution founded in England, so it wasn’t really surprising to see them take a detour from the way things were done, but there was a beautiful catch; they always tried to display the Ghanaian culture when it came to their school shows and activities, claiming it was a way to make students more appreciative of their Ghanaian identity.
Isabel had decided to go to prom dressed as an Ashanti warrior queen, and as she slowly waltzed down the stairs in her stunning, dazz
BONUS CHAPTER II (PART 2)“Do you think we should head over to Melissa’s first so we all go together?” Isa asked thoughtfully as Sylvester drove them away from her house to their school.“Naah, I don’t really think it’s necessary, we’ll see them anyway… or?”Isabel shrugged. She had no idea why the protective feeling she had for her best friend was setting in again. Melissa was dating this handsome guy, and former bad boy, Nathan Ashton. They had been going strong for almost three years now, and Nathan was really the best, but Isabel didn’t trust him, and from the look of things, it didn’t look like she was ever going to anytime soon.I mean, once a bad boy, always a bad boy… right?Isabel was praying that a time would never come when she would be proved right.“Come on, Is… what’s got you in the doldrums?” She heard Sylvester faintly
BONUS CHAPTER (III) part oneLouisa drove into the huge driveway of what used to be her home but now belonged to her mum, and she suddenly turned nostalgic. She missed her father. She remembered her childhood days. She had been much closer to him than her mum, so it didn’t really surprise her that her daughter, Isabel was the same with her dad, William. Her mother really hadn’t had a problem with it and if she was being honest, neither did she.Besides, Louisa believed that mothers would always have this special bond with their children that fathers wouldn’t be able to have, particularly with their daughters. They could ask them about sensitive questions they wouldn’t even dare to ask their fathers, and other cool stuff like that. Louisa was quick though to admit that not all mothers were free with their daughters in that sense, and she knew that she had been among the few lucky ones… in the same way that her
BONUS CHAPTER (III) part two“You’re seeing someone as in a man?”Mrs. Mensah scoffed in amusement. Apparently the shock had cleared her daughter’s processing functions. “Yes Louisa.” She confirmed with a chuckle. “I’m seeing someone as in a man.”Louisa still wanted to be absolutely sure that her mum was talking about the same thing she was. “As in you’re seeing this man romantically?” She pressed.“Are you sure you’re alright, Louisa? Of course I’m seeing him romantically. You’re not the only one who deserves a happy ever after, you know?” Came the reply.“B-But what about dad, Mama? You-you told me you could never ever love any man like you love him. Or have you forgotten so soon?”The middle-aged woman was broken-hearted. A few minutes ago, she had been feeling the loss of her father’s death all over again, and fe
Bonus chapter 4- steamy William Blankson was exhausted. He had been holed up in his home study for almost six hours, but he was nowhere near closing the deal. Damn his business partners for being just as stubborn as he was. He could literally be doing anything else… anything else but this. But his close friend and business partner, Chris Ayettey, who usually handled these aspects of business had travelled, leaving him all alone to deal with it. He had been so busy in the past week that he had barely had time for his family… and from the look of things, this week was not going to be any different. He didn’t like that one bit. He yearned for his wife—yearned for their interesting banter, yearned for her kisses, her touch. Perhaps a holiday was the solution to their problems. Heaven knew that Louisa had been just as busy as him, if not more even. Her law firm was starting to gain internatio
REGGIE AND CHRIS- A night of forgetting Christian Ayettey thought himself to be a cowardly nerd. I mean, granted… he had shed the scrawny-boy-in-glasses look over the years, but he was still very much the same inside. He may have gained muscle, gained confidence, lots of money and all of that shit, but he was still very much that same boy when it came to women. Why, you ask? Well, I’ll tell you. He had been pinning after Louisa Mensah way back in college, when she was just a young girl passionate about seeking justice for the innocent. He had been by her side when her heart had been shattered by her devastating breakup. He had been her friend way before Naa Larley had entered their lives. Even then, he had been in love with her. But he had been scared. Scared that the love he felt for her was only one-sided. Scared that their friendship would be compromised if he told her how s
REGGIE AND CHRIS- The morning afterReggie woke up with a groan.God!Her head hurt so badly. She couldn’t tell where she was, but she was positive that it definitely not her room. Her room wasn’t this big, and her room definitely didn’t have floor to ceiling windows.Fuck.Her eyes weren’t used to such brightness first thing in the morning.Wait.She didn’t even know if it was still morning yet.A groggy look at her person told her she had no clothes on.She couldn’t remember anything. What had happened last night? She was trying so hard to recall, but all she could come up with was nothing.Reggie tried to get out of bed, her hand grasping weakly at the covers to make way for her to crawl out. She had been right, the bed was definitely not hers. It was too huge and way more comfortable. The graceful woma
REGGIE AND CHRIS- We meet again (part 1)The door to William’s office flew open and he waltzed in, looking impeccable as ever.Reggie waited for the usual butterflies she got whenever he was in her presence or in the vicinity even, but it never came. The feeling was so sudden… so unexpected that it had her questioning if she had really loved him.Because looking at him now, she felt… nothing.Had her feelings for him been a desperate, last resort by her brain to make a connection with somebody? Was she ever going to feel the joy of a true connection with someone that was specially made just for her and only her?Was she ever going to find her soul mate? The blue eyed man was wary, that much she could tell. She couldn’t even fault him for feeling that way, especially when the last time they had last seen each other didn’t end on such a great note. She gave him a small smile.
REGGIE AND CHRIS- We meet again (part 2)Chris settled heavily in the chair facing William's desk.He was honestly speaking, an amalgamation of emotions. He couldn't really describe how he was feeling, all he knew was that, he hadn't been the same after the incident two weeks ago.He felt so bad, and that feeling was causing him to be distant with Louisa and everyone else. She had called in the first week to check up on him, but after his dull, seemingly angry tone and one worded answers, she had stopped.Chris guessed it was to give him space and that made him feel much worse. He knew he hadn't technically done anything wrong but the feeling still gnawed at his bones. And now he had gone after William's ex.True, he didn't know who she was, but he had been super close to breaking the bro code.He had been so pissed seeing her standing with William like that, and honestly speaking, the first thing that had co
REGGIE AND CHRIS- New Beginnings “So you’re trying to tell me that our child is perfectly fine?” Chris asked in complete confusion. “Yes, Mr. Ayettey…” The doctor assured him with a wide grin. “But, I thought bleeding was a sign of a miscarriage,” Reggie interrupted, equally confused. “It is, but that is not always the case, Mrs. Ayettey—” “Oh, uh… we’re not married.” She corrected, a light blush coating her cheeks… one that had Chris grinning like an awestruck idiot. “My apologies, then. Anyway, as I was saying… bleeding isn’t always a sign of a miscarriage. It can be sign of implantation of the embryo in the uterus, like yours was… there are other reasons for bleeding during pregnancy, but I wouldn’t want to bore you to death with all of that.” He finished. “But I thought implantation and everything that had to do with that occurred in the first trimester?” Reggie asked after a moment’s thought. “Yes, great question.”
REGGIE AND CHRIS- BleedingTwo whole months. Two whole months since the incident, and things were just as tensious as before. So much so that Chris was already so full of regret. If someone had told him that his short outburst would have launched such a devastating aftermath, he probably would have called them a liar, but things were actually that bad.Reggie did not talk to him.Like at all.She didn’t eat his foods, choosing instead to live off fruits and vegetables, and other stuff that didn’t require much any complex skill. The tension had been so unbearable that Chris had gotten a housemaid to come live with them. He was the one who had ruined their budding relationship,She didn’t have to suffer for it?Fortunately, Reggie had hit it off with the maid, Janet… so at least Chris didn’t have to worry about that aspect of their life anymore. He had someon
REGGIE AND CHRIS- Beautiful start, ugly endChris had always thought that Deidre was a woman! So he hadn’t even bothered to meet her after allowing her access into his house. You can imagine his surprise therefore when he suddenly heard purely masculine laughter wafting into his study. He had been surprised and curious, and so he had decided to go and take a look, hiding his intentions under the guise of wanting to know what Reggie wanted to have for lunch. There sat Deidre, a complete man all right, but with an interesting twist.Chris slowly felt his anxiety ebb somewhat as he made his way to the kitchen to get started on lunch.Deidre was no competition? The revelation that he had been worried that Reggie might have another love interest after William really unsettled the man though. What exactly did it mean?He honestly didn’t care. Really, he didn’t.Liar.
REGGIE AND CHRIS- DeidreReggie tried to keep her cool as she watched Deidre alight from his rickety car.If someone ever told her that she’d be this excited to hear and see the car that had annoyed her pretty much over the past two years, Reggie would have called the person a serious liar and probably would have had them charged for treason, or maybe worse… like cast into the dungeons. But here she was, truly fawning over it, and barely being able to do something about it.“So you dump all the work on me and take off on some Cinderella adventure, leaving me to deal with the real world, huh?” Deidre started dramatically as soon as he stepped out of the car. “See? I had always known you were a bitch.”Reggie laughed and wrapped her arms around her assistant in a hug. “Oh, Deidre… what a dramatic way to tell me you have missed me.” She teased. “You know, you could have just said the words
REGGIE AND CHRIS- Thinking things, seeing thingsFor the first time since she got here, Chris spent the entire day with her!Well, it wasn’t exactly the entire day since it wasn’t even two o’clock yet. What Reggie meant was that even after they had had breakfast, the handsome hunk still hung around the living room like some ghost… instead of locking himself in his study like he usually did, even though there was some kind of tension in the air after his outburst about liking how she enjoyed his meals. That tension had put a bit of a strain on the flow of their conversations, so they weren’t really talking. Plus, Reggie had her phone back so she was much more focused on letting the few people she had in her life know that she hadn’t vanished off the face of the earth. She was pretty sure that her mother had kept most of them posted, but just a text wasn’t bad, and so that was exactly what she was d
REGGIE AND CHRIS- The ruined breakfastReggie had never been this bored in her life!It had already been a week since she agreed to her baby daddy’s crazy proposition and she could swear that she was already starting to regret the decision. You see, Reggie had always felt that the housewife kind of life was never meant for her.And the past week had proved her completely right! But at least things would have been a bit more bearable if she was seeing said baby daddy often. The man mostly kept to himself, meeting her in the dining room for breakfast and lunch and supper only, and then shutting himself in his study for the rest of the day.He was with her in the house, but it for sure didn’t feel like it to the supermodel.Plus, without her phone or laptop, Reggie had only television to keep her company through the lonely times, and she wasn’t much of a TV person so you can just imagine how lonely she
REGGIE AND CHRIS- The PropositionReggie finished the whole carton of apple fruit juice and the packet of biscuits, much to her pleasant surprise. She hadn’t eaten that well in days, and she honestly felt so much better already.Chris on the other hand was very pleased. He had been covert in his observations, but seeing the annoying vixen eat and knowing that she was doing it to sustain herself and his unborn child was doing something to his insides. He was feeling so high, he wanted to climb to the highest mountain to shout that he was going to be a father. He still couldn’t believe it!It truly felt too good to be true. But at this point, he was done trying to make sense of the mechanisms of fate. He was going to do his best to make sure that the cards he had been dealt with worked in his favor. He heard Reggie clear her throat shyly, the action snapping him out of his thoughts.“I-I didn&rsq
REGGIE AND CHRIS- Things are going to changeHonestly speaking, when Chris opened the door and found her missing, and checked the bathroom and washroom and didn’t find her there, he knew right there and then that she had left. But he still wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt. And so he had gone out and searched the hospital halls, checked other wards… asked the nurses even. But no one had seen her.He had returned back to her ward and checked the drawers after his search had yielded no response, and that was when he had found that her clothes and car keys gone.Chris grinned. For some reason he thought this would have been an easy task. He had forgotten for a moment just how annoying the supermodel was, he really should have known that she wasn’t just going to sit back and do his bidding just because he had said so.Oh, but he had a plan. She was definitely going to move in with him,
REGGIE AND CHRIS- The escapeReggie stared at Chris in total confusion.“What the hell are you talking about? What child?”Chris studied her, looking for any signs of acting or… something, but he realised that she was genuinely confused. “You didn’t know?” He asked her.She shook her head.“Well, you’re pregnant.” He confirmed. “Now, I didn’t think it was my place so I haven’t called William yet, that’s assuming it’s even his in the first place…”Reggie wasn’t listening to a single thing the man was saying, her brain was furiously doing calculations and making deductions. She had missed her period, but she didn’t really think much of it.She had blamed her stress and crazy resting and eating patterns for the skip. Plus it usually happened, so it wasn’t really anything out of the ordinary. Fu
