It must have been hours ever since that incident and I am glad everything went well in just one night.

Rhys’s wounds had been treated, but she is still unconscious. Hera is still coping with her terrible experience, and they chain the one and only enemy at the prison. The King ordered a search at the enemy’s headquarters and Harith led the investigation.

Yeah, it is that prince who is leading it.

I judiciously thought as I silently stared at the window, silently sitting on my office table. The scene was giving off midday sighs. I am quite tired, I haven’t got a good night sleep ever since yesterday.

It's been bugging me out for hours already, why ‘his companions ran off and as to why he stayed. It is too strange to let it aside, knowing that he surrendered without a fight.

How did they enter the castle unnoticed, anyway?

I wonder if Harith already questioned him.

Damn that dragon mage and damn my ignorance. He is too smart for me to even manipulate. If I won’t take her back, the Underworld’s most notorious hunters and mercenaries will surely come for her, but that Zephyr, he does not care a bit.I call him Zephyr; he is the wind mage, after all.Even though I have nothing to do with her, but damn, I hate this wandering mind of mine. If I can’t get a good talk with him, I will take a bet on her.--After all, we are just the same.“Pathetic,” She then spoke up with that same cold voice of hers, “How come someone as pitiful as you isn’t even dead yet or should I say---” She paused, only to make me hear her footsteps getting louder as she advances. As I stared at the mossy stone floor, her figure covered the torchlight, casting out her shadow upon my worn-out body. Her footsteps ceased as she squatted down in front of me.“How come you even exist?&rdq

RHYS's POVMany people will admit that selfishness is the cause of all the miseries in this world, but they fall under the demoralizing belief that it is somebody else’s selfishness and not their own. They are worse than scums.I unpleasantly thought. As I stood by the bridge going to the grand hall. Hera goes by, I watched her bravely enter the dungeon with bandages and medicine.Crossing the line or just pure kindness, I wonder which is which. As soon as she entered, I strolled away, going home to take a rest. The military huh, I bet that snake cannot hide its tail much longer since his or her plan was a crappy failure. That is where people usually act rashly, and I will use that to my advantage. As I took a pace home, my mind wandered about yesterday. So what happened actually, how come I am still alive, and with no burns?Bas

:RHYS's POVBefore we knew it, specks of dusts were now harshly flying in our surroundings, and the horses whined from the unforeseen occurrence. With the light of the upcoming dawn, I didn’t even need to wait for the flying dust to subside just to see what’s in front of me.Remembering how unpleasant was the blast whenever they transform, I managed to get away in time. This is the first time I got to see her dragon form, and the scene only made the insides of me be filled with a familiar emotion, wrath.A thirteen-meter tall or less average red dragon, she held a resemblance to the dragon that opposed me and Leonor back then. It must have been hard for you, Dawn, to play the role of a pitiful swindler.Well, never thought words can easily sway her. She reacted from information Henry apprised earlier. Her actions will make more sense if I were to conclude that she’s connec

THEON’s POVNews broke and spread like wildfire, of how the slayer fought and killed a traitor. Some humans pleasantly chatter about it while dragons, like they always do. They kept their mouth shut and go with the flow, solely waiting for the day vengeance is served.Rhys, why is death so necessary to you? Why did you do it, then lock yourself in your mansion for the entire day? Was it to hint how guilty you are about it?Just why does she even hate us that much?I slowly strolled towards where they said the traitorous dragon was slain yesterday. Even though I am a bit far away, I could see a small memorial. They left one in honor of her great deeds as a military dragon before she even became a turncoat. There isn’t even one for a former dragon who served the Royals like Cart Leonor. Maybe his connection with the late Crown Prince made him seemed worthless for even a ‘stone’.

:THEON’s POVThe day of our departure had come, and it has been an hour ever since we left the castle. At the Grand Hall, the royal twins, Hera and Harith, bid their goodbyes to me. Princess Hera only blabbered about her best wishes for us while Prince Harith, he is quite thankful his dream came true.Nah, we’re still not married. If I remember it correctly, people call it ‘engagement’. I don’t think everything would end up in veils and rings. I will surely not let it happen. The king declared that he’ll be the one to schedule the wedding. I hope it would happen one hundred years from now.Our travel only consists of two normal wooden carriages with six sentinels on their horses. I wouldn’t want to attract bandits just by riding on a luxurious Berline wagon. Besides, it is nothing but the ride that we need and never for the sake of exalting power and status.I ma

:RYU’s POVEver since I agreed upon his request of me coming with him on a journey, I know my life will never be the same. Silenced confined me in this lonely wooden carriage. I wonder where we are heading to. Is it a place where someone like me is welcomed and accepted?Well, let’s find out later. The carriage was taking a gradual pace. It has been an hour and a half already, as the scene gradually changed from the scenery of thick gloomy woods, into an astonishing sight of wide and flat desiccated rice fields, and of unusual dwellings miles away from each other. Majestic mountains stood from afar and the sky was cloudless, and the sun was shining brighter than where I came from.So this is the foreign world.I am not into escaping, after all, I noticed how well-rounded these sentries are. I would rather stay around; at least, it is just out of curiosity.I want to know what will happ

:RHY’s POVAs far as I can remember, this is the second time I visited this place. Much had changed that I do not even know where to start to count. Not even a memory of how it used to be was left in my memory, but I know I have walked these same old stone pavements before. It has been thirteen years, after all.“This is where the trading happens,” I mumbled as I look around the area. I would rather tire myself out before going to bed than waste my time thinking about unnecessary stuff. That idiot, if only he did not open that stupid mouth of his, we might have not said too much.I strolled as to where my feet lead me to while looking for something that interests me. : THEON’s POV “Is beasty not going to eat?” Ryu asked in a zappy manner as he entered the private dining room we rented in the inn. Beasty? Just how in the world did they even become that close? “Let her be,” I responded before sitting sat on one of the ten seats, “She must have thought that feasting with the enemy is quite distasteful to even imagine it.” With curiosity, Ryu glided towards an empty seat and instantly sat down with a tedious look. “How come you are acting more like that beast than the beast itself?” he then asked. What does that even supposed to mean? “Don’t even start claiming you know me, or her.” I annoyingly replied as I pointed myself then to my back indicating 'her', “We all just met each other a few days ago in some ghastly circumstances after all.” “Yeah, you are right,” He uttered, “So why then this sudden marriage? You aren’t into killing her, right? Because if you will, you will

: RHYS’s POV “I want a dozen, no, hundreds of copies of books, original or not,” I demanded. “I’ll be opening a library in Weinthwoods and I need a supply.” Here at the Main Trading Center that works directly for the King himself, I boldly ask. “Your highness,” Old Sir Desmond trembled with fear as he sat on his desk. He reasoned, “Just as the Wise king had said before, books are not needed in the country.” With a swift swing of his hand, pushed his silver bangs that fell from his quiver. He bore a fake grin on his pale lips. Praying that I will take his advice of not going against that foolish king. I am not exactly 'going against', as if that King could even resist my will. “The King has nothing to do with my decisions, Sir Desmond.” I raised my voice. “I am the second princess of the court, the future Marchioness of Weinthwoods.” I appealed, “What makes you think my evaluations aren’t in the m

: THEON’s POV “Wake up, Theon!” a familiar young voice called out as she pulled my blanket away. “It’s almost sunrise!” She added, forcing me to wake up. I slowly dragged my body, compelling me to sit on my bed, but the not-so-bright light that crept on my open window sent me blinking three times just to adjust my blurry vision. Another day broke, and I, no, we---are still alive. Who must I give my thanks to? “Damn,” I muttered before massaging my heavy and aching forehead. Not only that, “Damn, what a terrible dream.” I shrieked quietly and covered my blistering face with both of my palms. Hangovers are problematic, it gives such unrealistic nightmares. “What did you dreamed of?” Luna, who seemed to have heard my grumbles, asked as she stood beside the edge of my bed, “You’re turning red.” She added, causing some unwanted memories to flash through my mind. “Don’t ask!” I ann

: RHYS’s POV “The Smith household is really that popular huh,” I astonishingly mumbled while reading some reports about the Smiths here inside the evil devil’s lair. “How come I failed to hear about them when I was at the castle?” “Nah,” I smirked, “As if I care about humans before." Earlier, after a thirty-minute or less stroll under the night sky, I reached the manor. I asked Fish to collect all valuable information about that foolish household when I finally reached home, but he assertively led me here instead. He also informed me that the Marquis had been keeping an eye on them ever since…--um, I don’t know; he didn’t tell me. That guy Fish, what a funny name. Even though his voice isn’t that familiar, his face does. The second time I took a closer look at him earlier, he is certainly that old man’s former dragon partner. Well, it doesn’t look like he didn’t have a choice, though. To stay her

Damn it!Ryu, who was leaning on the closed door behind Rhys with his palms on his nape, joined the conversation, “I wonder why the king declared such all of the sudden,” He slowly strolled towards Rhys’s sitting figure and bent his back down to read the scroll with her. He actually wore that freaking attitude. : RYU’s POVMy three days after the official opening of the Fall festival was boring. Yet, not as boring compared to my time back at the Underworld. One thing that had left me astounded was the lantern moment. A wish for another from a genuine heart, will it come true?Futile, who in this retching world is going to grant such hope? That festival is nothing but created for fun. No one up above will hear your pleas, because none exists up there.I know, because I tried.I cringe at myself whenever I remember that time I knelt on that verdant ground, and with the top of my lungs, I clamored to the night sky; just at least make that one wish come true.It was the stupidest thing I have done in my entire life. Two weeks must have passed ever since I left Underworld and has been forty-three years since I left that home, but not a single regret is gnawing my core. With those stains, you have no right to love again.David has been with me as a friend, and I don’t want to cross that line twice.Since I am now free from my old self, I have the need to maintain it. I guess.Your priority right now is to protect those that are important to you without the necessity to have them do the same.So Ane, you do not need a hear—“Oy,” A warm hand suddenly gripped my cold one. I want to spend my time here with her.---but I am just the guy whom she barely notices.Just like her, I kept this ardent feeling for myself. I have lived long enough to understand that such affection can artlessly spawn, but the act of reciprocation isn’t some sort of bonus.Taking the risk is beyond me and yearning for more is out of my league, knowing that we do not feel the same.Asking for such a meeting and expecting her to come is some intrepi

What is he up to?Why did he suddenly decide to help this green-haired devil?I can’t blame him if he started continuing his lame plan, but it doesn’t matter now. The last bet is something he cannot predict and impede. It is such a bother I made this bet to work fair and square.Unpleasantly, my mind flashed a horrible memory. : THEON’s POV “I feel sick.” I mumbled as I rested my cheek on the rough surface of my table, feeling my stomach turn around like a whirlpool. It has been growling too loud lately that I can’t even stay at the dining table for more than a minute. Where did I get these? Was it from our food earlier? “Come on, Theon,” Luna exclaimed after she entered my room with her furnished ponytail matching her new orange dress outlined with white maple leaves at the brim, ready for the festival, “Midnight is coming,” “I’ll pass,” I mumbled with my weak, sour voice. “But,” She pouted, “Everyone will go, except for Rhys though.” Yeah, simply because she is injured; I don’t think she can go. Now that I am kind of sick, I don’t want to move a muscle with this twirling belly. The festival is a one-week celebration; I will visit right after I am fine. “Go on now,” I uttered, sending her off on her journey, “Mid
