CHAPTER 64

At 5ft, 1 inche, José was a very short man with a round belly that looked like he had a calabash attached to his stomach and a flat butt that looked like the cheeks were sliced off. Making it seem like his butt cheeks were sucked into his thighs.

His Hispanic face was as round as his stomach with his cheeks leveling up with every part of his face to form what looked like a ball with facial features drawn on it. His eyes socket looked so tiny and his eyeballs so small that his friends joked that if he could only lose his baby fats, so they could really see his egg whites.

Because of his looks, José was someone you would notice immediately but also forget the moment he is out of sight. Having been at the receiving end of much bullying and rejection, José decided to drop out of school at age 17 to join his cousin; Mateo, who lived at Puerto Nuevo, a small lobster village close to the border.
