Forty-Two.

(Lily’s POV)

I had been obsessively baking and cleaning ever since I saw Alphonso on the news. I baked so much that Chris had to help me take the treats I had baked to a homeless shelter on the next town over, where I met Kay’s father working. I didn’t even know he worked there.

“What brought you to these part of town?” He helped me with the box of treats I was carrying.

I smiled, “I have just been a little restless of late and I had to find a way to divert that energy, so I baked.”

Chris walked in behind me with another box filled with treats.

Julian, Kay’s father, chuckled, “you must have had a lot of energy if you had enough to bring all the way here.”

“I didn’t even know you didn’t work in the town.” I mentioned, as the three of us walked further into the homeless shelter.

“I don’t really. I just volunteer here during my free time.” He smiled at me.

“That’s impressive that you have the time to do this, on top of being a full time father.” Chris chimed in.
