I rushed to my room and opened my laptop. I immediately googled everything related to Crest blood tests. If it was a must that I undergo the blood test, then I should at least have a bit knowledge about it.
According to the results that were displayed on my laptop, the tests were done every year to with the aim of monitoring if human blood would undergo mutation. Nice excuse, I scoffed to myself as I continued to read the contents. At the age of sixteen, it is believed that the blood of humans undergoes a mutation that…..., I paused as a humored smile formed on my lips
Adolescence? Is it? Because only sixteen year olds undergo that kind of ‘mutation’ as the government terms it. And it wasn’t a mutation, it is just some kind of a big leap from being a kid to adulthood that everyone undergoes when they grow up. But why the blood tests? Couldn’t they just physically observe the teenagers, I mean boobs and beards are pretty obvious. I shook my head and continued to read on what g****e would say about that.
Only those with genetic variation or inheritance would undergo mutations. Well, that was nothing like adolescence. What if you are found to undergo a mutation? I asked myself scrolling down for an answer.
If your blood is found to be mutated, you would receive a special letter later in the day with the specifics on how your blood may be rectified, the paragraph ended there. Treated? So strange is it some king of disease or viral strain the government is trying to eliminate?
Suddenly, my phone rang. I didn’t bother to check on the caller’s ID when I answered it since I was so much engrossed in my reading.
“DUDE, where are you?” a voice shouted in my ear that made me look at my phone from my laptop
“Sebastian buddy, I could still hear you if you talked like a normal person” I complained rubbing my right ear. I heard Sebastian laugh out loudly
Myths and misconceptions about the blood test, I continued to read on my laptop the phone still on my ear
“You promised that you would accompany me to my girlfriend’s house”
The blood test is believed to control population by killing the weak when injected the sedative.
“HA” I exclaimed loudly completely forgetting that I was on the phone with someone
“You are going to go out on me now?” Sebastian asked
“Err? No…. No way, you are my buddy” I said subconsciously as I went on with reading
“Then pick me up in an hour, we are getting late”
Some people go missing after the tests, the treatment is a scam. I widened my eyes in horror
“No fucking way” I shouted surprised by that misconception. What if it was true and not just some wild thought
“Then I’ll pick you up jeez, you won’t even waste your car’s fuel”
Rumors have it that if your blood is mutated, you get killed at night and your body is never found.
I jumped up in fright after reading that, what if I’m mutated and I get killed
“I’m having none of this” I whispered
“Dude really?” I heard Sebastian grumble. I then remembered that I was speaking to someone on the phone
“Uhm, you were saying?” I asked in an apologetic tone
“What’s wrong with you? You just bailed out on me “He screamed over the phone making me flinch. He really loved screaming on the phone. I didn’t know if he always did that intentionally to piss people off or he simply just forgot that the receiver always had the phone close to his ears.
“Did I?” I feigned surprise
“I’m having none of this” he mimicked my voice. Even over the phone, I could tell that Sebastian really wished to squeeze me and punch me very hard
“Take you to your girlfriend? Of course I won’t ever refuse that request. When should I pick you up?’ I asked after having remembered
“In an hour” he shouted but this time I was prepared; I had placed the phone far away from my ears. He hung up after that.
My thoughts trained immediately to the misconceptions I just read on my laptop. What if they were true? What if I was mutated and I get murdered in the night? I was too young to die and I also didn’t even have a girlfriend yet.
I recalled that the doctors will come by in the noon and I had to take Sebastian to his girlfriend’s place. I would need to get myself ready if I was to get back here before noon.
After I had shut my laptop, I went straight to the bathroom and turned on the shower then jumped straight into it. It took me a moment to realize my mistake when my pajamas started sticking on my body. Really? I mentally asked myself as I removed the wet pajamas from my body. No wonder I had started imagining that the showers had malfunctioned. Were these signs of a mutated blood? I cringed at the thought.
After a quick military bath, that was a less than five-minute bath. I wore casual clothing and then left our mansion. I left at eight am exactly in my black race car towards Sebastian’s home. Okay I wasn’t that rich but that was one of the advantages of having rich foster parents.
3Sebastian’s home was located in the neighboring estate; it was a ten-minute drive. Sebastian waved at me when he saw him, he was so anxious that he had waited for me in front of his house. He was a tall guy about as tall as me with beautiful hair. His hair was thick and wavy blonde, sometimes I felt envious of his hair. Mine was just ebony brown and straight and long, like a rock type of person.“You are late; I can’t believe you actually made me wait for you for half an hour. What were you doing? Painting your toenails or something?” he fired when I pulled the car beside him. I opened the passenger seat for him while adjusting my dark shades, to cover my weird eyes.“I was sleeping like normal teenagers do, it’s your fault that you have to visit your girlfriend so early in the morning” I shrugged starting the car againAs I drove, I couldn’t help but study Sebastian through the corner of my eyes. He
4Claire was a bubbly cheerful girl. Since her parents weren’t around at the moment, the house was filled with constant laughers. I excused myself when Sebastian and Claire started staring at each other like they wanted to eat each other’s face and I wasn’t in for something X-rated.“I’ll just be out here…if you need me, which you obviously wont” I picked a glass of water and stepped outside. It was like they were just waiting for me to leave, I quickened my pace towards my car when smooching sounds grew louder. They were really going to swallow each other’s faces at that rate.Claire’s home was surrounded with different colorful flowers of different natures. It gave a certain cooling effect and feeling that made the area surrounding the flowers seem peaceful. In a split second, my knuckles connected with a bony jaw. The collision was followed with a loud shriek and then a body being hauled some meters away. I closed the distance between us almost at the same instant and rained down punches on the guy's face. All I saw in my eyes was a red haze and nothing else. Another kind of rage and anger had filled me so much that I angrily enjoyed punching the guy's face. It was like the person had snapped some kind of a trip wire in me that could never be reconnected. I couldn't control what I was feeling at the moment, I just wanted to beat this person endlessly for pissing me off. Blood spurt out of his nose under the constant punches I rained on him making his face extremely bloodied but this only served to make me want to punch him more. His attempts of throwing me off him were negligible, he struggled until his arms started growing weaker and pale. Unfortunately for him, I couldn't stop what had gotten into me.A very loud scream brough

Until today, I have never been in a police station in my life. I was the most disciplined kid in school, I had never even be suspended or expelled. Before I was taken to the interrogation room, I was first placed in a cell with a bunch of drunks and fearsome huge men. Since I was a minor, I didn't last in there for more than half an hour since it was against government laws for a minor to be held that long." Marcus?" The officer frowned " what's your dad's name?"" "When did you get so strong?" Sebastian asked me while we were driving from the police station. I just stared at my bloodied shirt silently. 1“Michael? Michael? Michael? Still sleeping this late in the morning?” I heard my dad shout from the living room. I grumbled as I covered my head with my pillow. Cant I even sleep past seven o’clock even on a weekend? And he still calls it late.“Michael?” came his loud shout again. I resisted the urge to tear the pillow apart but I then threw away my covers in annoyance.“coming” I lazily shouted as I literally dragged my legs out of my bedroom then to the grand sitting room.
