I had spent the next couple of days as a shadow of myself. With each passing hour, I lost another piece of myself to worry. The realisation that I might never get her again settled in slowly and surely as I sent all my men and searched everywhere but found nothing.

Even now, I was sitting in the living room, staring at the ceiling despondently. The situation was bringing me down, and the worst part was that I knew it and still let it.
