Zoey: "Miss, you look gorgeous,” The hair stylist said, piercing the golden hair stick through the bun she made with my short ginger hair. “I sure do!" I exclaimed. It's been four years since I have donated my cornea to my husband and I became completely blind until three months ago when I lied to him that I was going on a vacation and I asked for some money. He was oblivious to the fact that I wanted to have cornea surgery and surprise him and today, I was returning home to surprise him. Here I sat today, staring right at my reflection in the mirror, something I couldn't see for four years. Life turned a smiling face on our lives just six months after he had the surgery four years ago when his brother passed away and his Father had to pass the company to him. He also became the new mafia Lord of his empire but he didn't care about the empire, he cared about the company more. My husband became a famous billionaire. Four years in darkness. Four years blind. Four years in pain. Four years being bullied by the housekeepers because there was nothing I could do. Four years of my husband despising me because I was blind. It all goes down today and I would make him happy. I always heard his conversations with his friends and whenever they asked about his wife, he would brush it off. He wasn't proud of me being his wife since I was blind. He always had me locked in and gave me everything I needed just to stay indoors and not make anyone suspect that the wife of a billionaire was blind. Though everyone knew he had me as his wife, it seemed as though they all forgot I existed after some time. Today, I would reclaim myself as Seth Finn's wife. I dabbed some makeup over the scar across my neck; something I was insecure of since I was a child. “All done!!" She squealed, looking into my eyes through the mirror, her eyes sparkling with adoration. I really looked amazing even though I only had light makeup on. My milky white skin glowed, contrasting the color of my full pink lips. My shoulders were held high, perfectly shaped in the pink lace, as my neck also stood tall, holding up my oval face. I looked like a model or probably I was overhyping it since Seth never for once told me I looked beautiful in four years, except on our wedding night. I let out a sigh, contentment running in my veins. I rose up, realizing I had been keeping the chauffeur waiting. “Please leave after you pack up your things. This is a hotel and I wouldn't want any form of complications with the authorities,” I said to the hair stylist. She nodded. I strode towards the door, grabbing the knob and pulling it open. I exited the room, walking down the passage as I put a leg in front of the other to maintain my curves in the blush pink dress that I wore. The dress embraced my slender figure, flaring out right above my knees. The elevator dinged and the doors slided open for me to walk out with my heels knocking against the marble floors with each step I took. Soon, I got out of the hotel, sighing as I stared up at the clouds above. I spotted the black sleek car parked right in front of me with blue balloons tied on it. I just wanted to make today so special that I made sure the colors of the balloons were exactly the shade of Seth's eyes. I slammed the door, stepping into the car. “Drive," I commanded, crossing my arms. The ride was the longest thirty minute ride of my life, filled with anticipation. When the car finally got to the estate, I looked out of the window, noticing a crowd. It wasn't the crowd that made me look but the amazing dress codes and some personalized balloons and cars with Seth's face on them and some crazy words written on banners in unreadable, ridiculous fonts. I cleared my throat, starting to feel uncomfortable. The car finally stopped in front of the house and an even more crowd was outside the gate, trying to break their way in. Even the press were seen outside but that wouldn't stop my surprise. I stepped out of the car, diverting their attention and they all gasped, staring at me as though they were shocked to realize I still existed. Lights flashed, threatening my vision, as they captured images of me. I didn't stop to stare at them any longer, I made my way through the crowd, going to the gate and opening it with my keycard. As soon as it opened, I stepped in with some of them using the opportunity to rush in but my legs remained fixed to the spot. I swallowed hard, unable to believe the scene in front of me. A few tables and chairs were arranged, accommodating a few people and some of the faces looked familiar even though it's been four years since I had seen them. There he stood, my husband, Seth Finn, in a navy blue suit, glaring at me. A glare I couldn't decipher. I swallowed hard, my fist clenching as tears pricked my eyes, threatening to fall. It wasn't the undecipherable glare he shot me. It wasn't the guests. It wasn't the crowd. It wasn't the press. It was the woman in his arms, dressed in an elegant white dress. It wasn't just a woman. It was none other than my twin sister, Chloe. My fist clenched as my breath got caught up in my throat, my heart throbbing. Chloe smirked at me before returning her face to Seth who returned his gaze back to her. The man that stood in front of them said some words that I didn't pick up. My heartbeat was all I could hear at the moment as the world spun around me. The only thing I heard was “Do you take Mrs. Willie as your wife?". Seth's eyes darted to me for a split second before he nodded. "Yes, I do, forever!". “And do you want Mr. Finn to be your husband?". Barely letting him finish, Chloe chirped. "Yes,". “I now pronounce you husband and wife!", “You may kiss the bride.”. I held my tears back as I yelled. “Seth!" My voice broke, piercing the supposed romantic moment and everyone snapped at me. “Sit down, Zoey!" Seth commanded, pointing his index at my face. I took slow steps to the front where they both stood and Chloe immediately left, disappearing into the building. “How could you do this to me?! I am your wife, Seth!" I yelled, holding tight on my chest. The heartbreak was so painful that I had to hold my chest as if it would put the pieces back together. My chest heaved up and down, my lips parting as I breathed out heavily. Was this some sort of prank? “If you hated me, you could have just told me rather than doing this to me!! I gave you that eyesight, Seth!”. Chloe returned, grinning ear to ear with some papers in her hand. She clung onto Seth like a leach. “You're too insignificant for hate, let alone love!” He spat. Gasps erupted across the yard as lights flashed, the paparazzi capturing images of us. My tears slipped out. Did he just say that to me? My heart felt as though a bee stung it, his words pulling my heartstrings. He took the papers from Chloe's hand, throwing it at me. The papers slapped against my face before flapping away. “Let's divorce! Sign it.".002Zoey:Silence took over as everyone anticipated my words.I let the tears fall, tired of keeping them in. Defeated, I lowered my gaze, looking down at the papers as I wiped my tears with the back of my hand. Was this the same man I loved? Was this the same man I gave my cornea? How could he do this to me after all these years? After everything I've done for him!A scoff from Chloe broke the silence and I looked up at her.She stroked her ginger hair proudly as she looked at me, disdain in her eyes.Short ginger hair! It all made sense to me now.Seth made me change my looks when we got married, forcing me to cut my black hair short and dye it ginger.I wanted to please him so I did it all for him but only to realize my nonidentical twin sister was the reason behind it.She was supposed to be lost. She's been lost for five years now, nowhere to be found but five years ago was when I met Seth so I was only a replacement while she was gone.I never wore clothes I was comfortable wit
003Zoey:My eyes were extremely heavy as I didn't have enough rest. I cried throughout the whole night, hoping this would all be a dream but none of this was real.I still couldn't wrap my head around the fact that I was a fool all these years but today, I picked myself up and covered my imperfect face with makeup, getting ready to attend the wedding.I had only some thousand dollars in the bank and I didn't know how I would survive alone on that but I would survive no matter what it takes.I walked out of the hotel, stopping a taxi which took me to Mom's house. The atmosphere was perfect and comforting but within me was a raging storm.Today, I would return to the people I least wanted to be with. They say home is where the family is.But to me, that was hell and not home. With four siblings who despised me and a mother who would always do everything to make me miserable, my bond with the family was blurry.“You're here!" Mom said, grinning at me as she sat in the living room with M
004Zoey:My eyes fluttered open, the sun rays hit my eyes from the corner. I blinked rapidly to shake off the tiny blur of floating dots that danced in the corners of my vision.Groaning, I tossed and turned.I rose from the bed, going to the bathroom.I showered and got dressed in an evening dress I found in the closet.I ran down the stairs, my flip-flops slapping against the marble floors with each step I took. The familiar aroma of Mom's pancakes hit me as I descended the stairs.Mom was sitting in the dining area with Mia and my stepfather. My stepfather noticed me immediately, snapping his neck back to look at me. At least he cared. He flashed me a smile. “Good morning!".I nodded in response, forcing a smile. “Morning!".I sheepishly moved and sat in an empty seat, keeping my distance from them, especially from Mia who was eyeing me with disdain written on her face.I grabbed a plate from the center of the table, picking my pancakes into the plate before taking small bites as
Prologue- four years ago. Zoey: I stared at the photos in my hand, shuffling through them with a smile on my face. I looked elegant in the white dress that cascaded down my legs, matching the color of my white teeth as I grinned. A bouquet was in my left hand with my other hand holding on my husband's shoulder. My bright gray eyes sparkled with joy as he grasped my perfectly carved waist. I remembered the warmth I felt in his embrace that day and the butterflies that fluttered in my belly. That day marked the end of my misery, having been stuck with my cruel mother in our penthouse all these years. It's only been two months since I got married to Seth but it felt just like yesterday. The thrill of freedom was out of this world. That day, I said my vows with Seth, the most handsome man I have ever seen. Seth, my husband, stood tall at 6’1 feet with amazing features and striking blue eyes that were my favorite color since the day I met him. He had dark brown hair th
