Chapter One

"Humph!" I fell face flat on the floor.

I was pissed that he was winning and giving me the greatest beating of my life.

"Mira, you can't keep failing on your face; you are supposed to be our leader. If this is all you can do, then you are pathetic," Sebastian mocked me.

"I told you, Sebastian, I am trying," I said to him, inhaling a huge amount of air and puffing it out in anger like smoke.

My hands balled in a huge fist.

"Come on! Show me, girl! Show me what you can do, or are you going to continue being weak, a disappointment to our pack?" he taunted.

It felt like invincible smoke was coming out of my head. My heart rate increased; my blood boiled.

"Careful, Sebastian! You might be my trainer but don't you dare disrespect me," I warned.

"I will do whatever is necessary to get the job done. Luna Kayana said to make sure you have control over your powers, so that is what I will do," he replied with a smirk.

"Now, block my attack like I have been showing you for the past hour."

He moved his hands in a spiral position while his feet were afloat.

He lunged at me with full speed. I summoned my shield to protect myself, but before I could do that, I found myself on the floor. It was too late to block it.

I groaned in pain, my eyes watery from the full force of the hit.

I tried to stand up, yet I couldn't.

"Weak and pathetic. Is this really what our pack has turned into? Disgusting!" he spat in rage.

I was breathing heavily; I felt like I could explode at any minute.

"You will never be fit to be our leader."

"Take that back, Sebastian! I am warning you," I fumed.

"Make me," he laughed condescendingly.

The next thing I could remember was an explosion. I turned to see him lying on the floor. He was a bit burned.

I looked around, checking to see if someone was responsible for that, but we were alone. I couldn't sense anyone there.

I waited for him to stand up and mock me like he used to, yet nothing.

I was horrified; there was no way I could have killed him with my wolf power. Sebastian was a strong wolf with a special healing ability. If I had attacked him with my wolf power, he should be healing by now.

"What did I just do?" I groaned in frustration, trying to remember, but nothing came to mind.

My name is Mira Constance, a twenty-year-old wolf, and today is my coronation day. Mother suggested I spar with Sebastian every day so that I could have full control of my powers.

She implored him to use any method necessary, as long as I will have full control of my wolf power, thus the taunting from him.

"What will Mother and the pack elders do if they find out that I killed Sebastian?" I sat down confused.

I need his body to disappear, but first, I need help with an idea of how to do it.

I mind-linked my friend Austin; he is one person that I could trust to get me out of anything.

He would go through fire for me; that is how tight we are.

"Mira, I told you I am busy today," he scolded.

"With what? I have an emergency, Austin."

"You always have emergencies. I told you that I am going over to Sara's place. She invited me today."

"That thirsty b*tch, you do know that she wants you, right?" I asked.

"What?" he asked.

"Never mind. Please, can you come over, Austin? I am in deep shit."

"What happened? Are you alright, Mira?"

"Yes, I will be once you are here. How far away are you?"

"I will be there in thirty minutes," he said to me.

"Make it twenty."

"Whatever," he answered.

The link cut.

In twenty-five minutes, he arrived in all his glory.

"What was the emergency, Mira?"

"Here," I said to him, pointing at the burnt corpse on the floor.

"Ahhhhhh! What the fuck did you do, Mira? What happened to him?"

"I don't know; we were fighting, and he was. Taunting me, and then that happened."

"How did that happen? We both know that Sebastian is a special wolf," he questioned, looking over at him.

"I don't know Austin! I don't understand anymore."

"Where do we bury the body?" I asked him 

"Bury the body? Are you nuts? We have to let your mom know before the elders find out and use it against you."

"Then what? How will I explain what happened to him? You know how important today is; think about what is going to happen if they find out."

"Please, Austin, let's bury his body," I pleaded.

"Alright," he said after a momentary pause.

He carried the body while I collected the shovel. In a few minutes, we were done burying his body.

We promised to keep quiet about what we did.

Then, I went home to start the preparation for my coronation.

In the evening, I was already dressed for the occasion.

Thousands of wolves were all gathered at the arena, including that bitch Sara. She had a sour look on her face, and she kept making faces at me.

I chose to ignore her since today was my special day. I won't let anybody spoil it.

It wasn't long before the elders and my mother walked in; they were all exquisitely dressed.

They sat in the front seat beside my mother, while she sat on my father's throne.

The ceremony didn't take time to kickstart.

They summoned me to stand at the front of the congregation. Four warriors were selected to fight with me. They did not wait for it to begin before they attacked me.

I managed to kill off three men, remaining the last person known as Phillipe.

My winning him would determine whether I would be accepted as the leader of the pack, the next in line, after my mother was gone.

"Murderer," he whispered to me. The fear paralyzed me.

I froze at the spot. He knew what I did.

I knew everyone heard him, so I decided to play it off.

"That's right, that is what I am going to do to you.

I will kill you and eat you up," I threatened.

I was enraged. I threw a blow on his jaw, satisfied to hear the crack.

He fell with a thud, his eyes combing through the entire arena.

"You are not fit to be our leader when your blood and hands are tainted."

"Shut up!" I screamed, slashing his face with a knife.

I couldn't wait for him to stand up. I needed to end him before they could put the pieces together.

I ran at full speed to kill him. I was pushed down by a powerful force.

I arose, furious and ready to tear down who was responsible for pushing me down. I heard my mother's voice ring in the whole arena.

"Enough!" I turned and looked at my mother's face. I was confused about why she stopped the fight.

I heard her and the entire pack gasp, surprise written all over their faces.

She drew back from me as I came closer to her.

"Mira, what happened to your child? Why do you look like that?" she asked me.

"Like what?" I moved back, looking for a mirror to see my face.

Sara handed me a mirror with a smirk.

My eyes were green, my ears were longer than usual, and I had grown wings. The funny part is that I didn't know how.

I could still feel my wolf, Vina. It was as if she was ashamed and was hiding from me.

"Luna Kayana, it seems your daughter has the curse too. She is no longer fit to lead us," John, the first elder and the most respected amongst them, chirped in.

I knew that the old goat would be the first person to speak against me. He always had it out for me, since the day I beat his daughter up for calling me a short beast.

"We don't know for sure, John. We need to find out from the healer first if we can cure it. You don't expect me to give up on my daughter, do you?" She asked with rage.

"Why not? You did it before," he mocked.

Her eyes turned red with rage.

"Don't you dare disrespect me, John? You might be an elder, yet I won't hesitate to kill you if you disrespect me."

He lowered his head for her. She always had that effect on people.

"We have to postpone the coronation," she concluded.

"Where is Sebastian? I need to speak with him," she asked me, searching the arena for him.

I froze, avoiding eye contact with her.

"I don't know where he is. I haven't seen him after the training," I lied.

"Are you going to keep lying? You know what happened to him," Phillipe said to me.

I had forgotten that he was there; I should have killed him when I had the chance.

"Mira, daughter of Alpha Richard and Luna Kayana, look at me!" she commanded 

I raised my face, staring deep into her eyes. I had no choice; I could not fight her command.

"What did you do?" she questioned me with authority.

"I am so sorry, Luna; I lost control when we were training. I didn't mean to burn and bury him," I trembled.

Her gaze darkened and her face turned purple; she looked at the elders and commanded,

"Take her away and lock her up. She will await trial," she said and walked off without looking at me for once.
