“So, my house today!” Lucy simply announced after hearing everything that happened in my class. “Ok who is all coming?”
“Coming!” Chad and Steve scream at the same time, which started another round of roughhousing from them. They are always horsing around or jumping at each other when they see each other, yet they do everything together. I just giggled at their silliness and wondered how I have such great friends.“Peter has practice, so he’ll probably not be coming today.” Miguel says as he looks in his planner. “I have a couple hours before I must be home. So yeah, I'll come.”“Is it ok if I come?” Cathy asks.“Yeah, no problem, Cathy. Come over as well.” Larry answered before Lucy could say anything. Larry is Lucy’s twin brother and so laid back that sometimes you forget he’s there. “Come here Mery let’s get going.” He says while reaching for my hand. I just shrugged as I took his hand and followed him down the street leading from the school.“Hey, wait up you two!” Terry yells running after us, causing Larry and I to start racing down the street. We were all laughing as everyone raced after us and round the corner. Life can sometimes be sporadic either in bad or good ways. Right now, it was a good way.I slowed down as we neared the star intersection. I always thought it was crazy how the streets created this almost perfect pentagram intersection. You wouldn’t notice it if you were looking at it on the map or driving on it. But given how often I walked this routine to Lucy’s house, I noticed. The road we are on forms one of the bottom points and the road we are heading to is across the intersection and the other bottom point. There is a median that separates the four-lane roadway but only up to this point. Most of the road is actually a two-lane road but is widened up here to control all the flow of traffic, as its T-bones a major road, that is the top point of the star. There is another road that flows between them, and it is the middle line of the star.Looking both ways Larry and I run across to the median. But before I could cross over to their street Lucy jumped on my back and we both fell back onto the grassy median.“You’re it.” She yells as she jumps up and ran across to her boyfriend, a high schooler that I am still getting used to. They are cute together, in that overly affectionate way.“You’ll pay Lu, I promise you’ll pay.” I yell at her back as she laughs. She made it across the street just in time for the flow of traffic to pick up. I’m now stuck on the median and everyone else is stuck at the other points of the pentagram from me.“Mery wait there, I’ll help you.” Mi yells just as Chad and Steve bump into him. Making him turn to them, to shove them away. I just laughed as everyone waved at me. I got up and looked around for my book-bag that had slipped from my shoulder. That’s when I heard someone yelling.Looking up I get struck by the most beautiful hazel eyes of a stranger. The world just stopped as I gawked at him. I couldn’t tell how tall he was given he was standing at the other end of the median near the top point, but I could see the color of his eyes. It was like I knew him and not all at the same moment. I just knew he was taller than me, but I was short, given my 5 feet stature, so no surprise there. He was brown but pale at the same time. He was muscular in a swimmer type way, but he moved like a runner. His hair was the strangest thing I have ever seen; it was brown with blondes’ streaks but not like how professional’s do it. It was wild with uneven streaks on the bangs, with one blonde streak running from his right ear to the left side of his head, like it ended behind his left ear. His hair wasn’t short and spiky but sort of long, like past his ears long. I have never ever seen someone like him. It took me a moment to realize he was moving in my direction and looked fearful. Then the world started again, and I could hear my name being called from all sides. I only had a second to look at Mi before everything changed. Suddenly I was flying into the air and looking at everyone as they yelled at me and the car that had was driving over the median right where I had been standing. I never even thought about how I was going to land, for I was blacking out at this moment. Meaning he hit me, I was hit by a moving car.*Why?* I whispered.*Don’t worry girl, I got you.* Nadia suddenly said as she pushed forward to wrap me in her warmth. *Just rest. I will handle everything.* Without answering her I surrender to the darkness, knowing she has it and I’ll be ok when I wake up. Though Mi and Lu are going to be upset, they will understand.--- Miguel’s POV, a few minutes before ---I just can’t believe the day we’ve had today. Nothing was going right and yet she still needs to meet them today. I must make sure that things change this time around. I just can’t keep letting her get hurt, plus my parents will not be able to protect her. Besides that, things are happening a lot more frequently. She doesn’t have to tell me about Nadia or that her nightmares are of the past, it’s part of the package that I know all that’s going on with her. Something that I can’t ever let her know, for she would be so shocked as well as embarrassed. Though I would never regret being her soul guide.Smiling as Larry and Mery run from us, I chase after them but not at full speed, not even at half speed. I need to hang back as they should be around here for us to casually run into and for Mery to meet naturally this time. This is part of my job I dislike, trying to make everything seem natural when it’s far from it. Her world is about to not only change but explode as everything she thinks is fictional is real and her world is all a lie.I speed up as we get to the end of the road but I’m not able to join Lucy as she crosses the street. For the annoying and clingy Cathy has not only crossed in front of me but fallen on me.“Miguel I’m so sorry.” Cathy says as she gasps to breath while still holding onto me. She never seems to understand let alone listen when I tell her nothing will ever happen between us, besides that I play for the other field. Something that has always been true no matter what period or culture. Another thing I find funny is how easily Mery accepts, and never questions our relationship or that we work well together besides our monetary status. I always am in the better or higher monetary status family compared to her, not that I have any choice, because if I did then she would be in the better or higher monetary status than me.“Ok Cathy now that you have caught your breath. I will leave you here and see you on the other side.” I say as I detangle her arms from around me, only to groan as the traffic has picked up.Looking to the median I see Mery on the ground, mostly likely because she fell, or because Lucy knocked her over. Which is what seems to have happened as I hear her screaming “You’ll pay Lu, I promise you’ll pay.”I’ll never get used to Lucy being a part of our little group. As Soon as I met her, I knew who she was and why she wanted to be friends with us, will Mery exactly. I almost didn’t ever talk to her but with what happened last year I needed all the help. Mery was in a really bad place, and I almost lost her due to my oversight.“Mery wait there, I’ll help you.” I yell just as Chad and Steve almost push me into an oncoming car. Swiftly turning I pushed them back. “Hey, watch it you two idiots.” I told them and that only caused them to gang up on me.“Oh, upset you got separated from your girl.” Steve says as he tries to hit me. I move to the side and laugh at the stupidity of him trying to hit.“Who’s that?” Cathy asks, causing all of us to look in the direction of Mall Street Avenue. I can see who has captured her attention and just roll my eyes. Yeah, the pretty boy had to come. But does he have to be so picturesque with the sun shining behind him as he walks in the shade of the trees. Then again, he wasn’t walking but running.“Mery move. Mery, Mery! MERIDA MOVE!” Hearing Lucy yell I looked back at Mery and to my horror, I watched as a car ran smack into her.“NO, MERIDA.” I’m not sure who screamed it, but all I knew was I needed to get to her now.“Miguel, hey wait.” Chad just about screamed in my ear as he restrained me from running into the street and right in front of car. “Look, someone has her.” He’s right, the pretty boy was able to get to her and so has Ericson. So yeah, I take a breath but… Wait the driver of the car.“No way!” I declared as I shrugged Chad off me and ran to the next street just as the car cleared the oncoming traffic and got to it. I was right as I skipped to a halt and fell back.“Wow dude, why did you take off.” Chad asked me as he caught up.“WZE-46 something, Mi did you get the rest?” Terry asks at the same time.“Yeah, I got it Terry thanks.” I answered before spinning and sprinting across the street as the last car passed us. Though a lot of the drivers have pulled to the side and are getting out to check the scene. I scream as I sprint across the street and up the median. “Someone call 911 and tell them we need an ambulance.”--- Miguel’s POV ---“Is she ok?” I asked as soon I was close; I almost fell onto Ericson as I fell to my knees next to him. It really irked me that he was still holding her. Yeah, I know he got to her first and was with her as she passed out, but doesn’t he know you shouldn’t move a person. Especially with how high she fell from though I knew she didn’t hit her head but for everyone else it might have looked like she had.“She’s ok for the moment but we need to get her to hospital to be sure.” Ericson tells me while still looking her over without moving her or upsetting Crispin. Like his feelings better. I mean yes, he was the first in the whole schemes of things, but he wasn’t the most important person in her life.“Miguel is she ok?” Miguel?” Looking up I see Lucy fighting against both Adam and Larry, who are trying to keep her back.“For the moment she is but she needs a hospital. Lucy, go get your mom. We need a ride to the hospital.” I scream at her. She just nods her head befor
--- Miguel’s POV ---I seriously needed to thank the girl. Due to her interference with the officers, we were able to follow the ambulance all the way to the First Dynasty Hospital. Though because it was heading to the ambulance bay, Lucy’s mom, whom we call Mama Ang, headed to the parking lot. Lucy and I didn’t even hesitate to jump out as she slowed down for another car that was pulling out of a spot.“Wo, you two wait!” Mama Ang yelled at us, but we didn’t slow down or look back. Yes, we would pay for the disrespect, though I was hoping for some understanding since it was an emergency.Just as we got to the door, it was opened by none other than that girl. Lucy shoved past her, while apologizing but not stopping to thank her and even ask why she was here.At first, I was wondering why she was here till she looked to me. That’s when I see the similarities to Crispin, except for her hair. Her blonde streak ran from her left ear to the middle of her head and her hair was long, lower b
--- Ericson’s POV ---I just followed behind everyone as I tried to think about all of this. Today was supposed to be the day we finally got reunited with her. I mean we did get to see her but passed out and banged up. That is not how I wanted to see her again.I wanted to see her beautifully smile and hear her voice. Then talk about what kind of life she has had so far and if she was willing to go with us to meet someone. A person of great value and importance in her soul. Someone that can fill the void in her and give her answers to everything that was happening. Will not this. This car accident was not a part of the plan. Why did it have to happen today of all days? That driver better hope we don’t get our hands on him. But what idiot drives in a vehicle to small for his built, let alone into a busy and confusing intersection like this one. Then again when that girl described the driver and then how Crispin reacted to whatever that Miguel was thinking about, gave me an idea of who i
--- Merida’s POV ---Everything hurt and it was loud. I knew I was at a hospital or on the way, but I couldn't open my eyes. *Just rest girl, they will take care of us.* Nadia whispered to me, and I winced as someone stuck a needle in my arm and not because she was being loud. *Sorry girl, but please just relax. It won’t hurt as bad if you relax.* I don’t respond but just do as she says. After relaxing I noticed it got quieter around me and I could actually hear what was going on.“We need the CAT scan immediately and make sure all of those tests are put at the front of the queue. If anyone has any questions, send them to me. We need answers now. I will not be facing Mr. Solace without at least a plan how to treat her.” I believe it is my doctor barking orders and the nurses moving around me carrying them out. Though I was stuck on the ‘Mr. Solace’ as I don’t remember anyone by that name. Then a face appeared in my mind. I knew it was Nadia who brought it up, but I couldn't place wher
“Lu that’s all nice but can you introduce me to our guests?” I ask her as soon as Adam returns with Larry and Sarah.“Oh yeah you were snoozing while we talked.” Lu explained as she approached Sarah. “This is Sarah Hawthrone and that’s her twin Crispin, and standing next to him is Mr. Solace. They were in the neighborhood when the accident happened.” Lucy motioned to Miguel, who walked back over to me. “They knew Miguel from some competition they all went to earlier in the year. They were looking at houses in the neighborhood and wanted to see how the atmosphere was like in the afternoon.I just nodded as if that really explained their presence. Just because there is a nicer and more expensive neighborhood down the street, for that’s where Miguel lives. I seriously doubt they were looking at those houses or thinking of moving into our section of the city.*You are correct girl. Cry would never want to be so close to humans as that vicinity is cramped and basically built on top of each
---Crispin’s POV--- As soon as everyone left, I was beside her and wiping her forehead with a tissue. I could hear Sarah snickering and just knew Ericson was rolling his eyes as he moved to the privacy curtain and pulled in to cover us all. I knew Sarah was sitting in the seat behind me, to keep me from sitting there, not like I was. I just sat on her bed facing her. “Ok blockhead move. I want to see her as well as talk with her.” Sarah demanded as she jabbed me in the back continuously. If it was anyone else, I would have punched them, but she had earned her place in my heart, and I did care about her. For that I moved back so she could slide the chair closer, but I never let go of Meri’s hand. Yes, it was her left hand that was bandaged, but I wasn’t worried about hurting her. Earlier when we were waiting to see her and while the nurses were distracted, I had sneaked into her room. It was hard to see her in that state but not new for me, I just mov
---Merida’s POV---To say my world exploded was an understatement, for I still had questions and just could feel that there was more to come. They were being gentle with me and careful of what they said. Then again it helped with explaining Nadia. She refused to explain what she was to me. The first time I felt her in my head, I thought I was going crazy or that I had schizophrenia. Then the first time she acted on my behalf I knew she was more than just a voice. It never hurt or felt scary when she came forward. It should have or at least I should have been unaware of her actions but no it just felt like a sister was stepping up for me. The craziest part is that I thought she might be my wolf, like I was a shapeshifter and she, my wolf. That she denied profusely and then proved. How did she prove it? Quiet easily. She pointed out a werewolf to me and then admitted to that person that she knew what they were. Their reaction was proof that I wasn’t a werewolf and that things existence i
It’s been over a year since she started annoying me with her rude comments and dark presence. Last year I did everything to shut her out or to get rid of her from my mind. But today, now in this moment I feel lost. Without her pushing me or taking action for me, how am I going to move forward? I even want to hear her curse again. The first time she showed up, she had a really dirty mouth and had a crude way of thinking. That’s why I thought I had a splint personality or crude wolf. It took a while for her to cool it with the curse words till now where she rarely curses. Though she always has opinions but at least now she knows to kept it to herself unless I ask her.I tried to keep this to myself, to keep quiet, but I couldn't. I started crying and not the loud wailing, bubbling crying. But the quiet, slow gasps for breath with tears running down my checks sobs as I called to her. *Nadia! Please Nadia.* I hid my face in Sarah’s shoulder and pleaded again and again for Nadia to answer.
---Merida’s POV--- Sitting there I just watched as Mi bounced his head on the table, I just worked on Jenn’s words. It was more than I thought. I had learned that shifters tend to run in packs as a way to strengthen themselves and protect their loved ones. Though if a trouble shifter causes issues in the pack, then they are kicked out and left to wander alone. Thus, making them rogues and any person that follows them. So, a promise of a new pack, where they are forgiven is too much to turn down, even a condition like causing panic in another. But then again would they go so far as to kill shifters just to join a new pack that hasn’t been established. *Wait has the pack even been formed?* “Jenn where is this pack set to be established?” I asked, causing everyone to halt in their movement and stare at me. “I’m sorry but no new pack has been recognized in this area and with my dad here. Won’t the leader or alpha have to approach my dad to b
---Miguel’s POV--- I would say life has calmed down these past two days, but I would need a base line to compare to our everyday life. But I can say we got into a routine that worked better than before. I know Mr. Bell has a lot of knowledge and experience when assisting someone with understanding their powers or teaching others of our world but Meri is not like anyone. I can’t explain but Meri does understand everything she learns but she still questions as if the knowledge she has is different than what she learned. Not that she remembers what she knows. But I am happy that I can openly help Meri now and not sneak behind everyone’s back. As Mr. Bell didn’t want to overwhelm her and thought one on one would be good for her. As well as judge what abilities she had and see about getting them under control. I wasn’t sure if any had surfaced but then again Nadia was present in her head. And we didn’t want her to get control or act out any more than she
~(;P)~ Nixie’s memories ~(d:)~ “… are you ok?” came his soothing voice which had me swooning in awe. How could someone be exactly my dream angel. Helping me to a sitting position, my sister falls into my lap as she cries onto my shoulder. Oh, shit she saw uncle hitting me, I have been hiding that for years. I don’t want her to lose all connections to our parents like I have. “Anneliesa I’m ok! Remember your sister is strong.” I smiled at her as she looked to me. “Now dry those tears and say hello to our guest.” I say as I waved at my dream angel and introduced myself. “I’m Nixie Klein and this is Anneliesa Klein. Sorry about all this but welcome to our adobe.” I said, getting to my feet and looking around. Stepping back as I took in the disarray, I was astonished to see the magistrate, my uncle as well as Mr. Boem and his son being restrained. I don’t recognize the soldiers or even remember them from before I arrived. *Where did all thes
“Wait I knew what that is!” I say after a moment. “Armed Ladies are the ladies that serve princesses or the council females. They serve both as guards and advisors, as well as representative for their lady when she is unable to be present.” After speaking a thought hit me. “But I am neither a princess nor a council female, so how can I have Armed Ladies. Plus, I have many questions about the Armed Guard as well.” “Well technically yes you are neither but don’t forget that Armed Ladies can be appointed if a lady has proven to be exceptional. Then again given your inexperience in our world and that it has yet to be proven your standing, it is not unheard for Armed Ladies to be appointed to you. Though they are Armed Ladies of established Ladies, not first timers.” Jen answers as she perches on the last sofa. “And I would love to be appointed but we need a Council Elder to sign off and not just the Kings.” “If I can become an Armed Lady and I can stay
---Merida’s POV--- *Yeah I made a mistake!* I thought as I looked at everyone. I do remember them all telling me to stop. But Leo was so cute and really wanted a belly rub. He told me how bored he was just walking the perimeter and that his partner Greg was too strict. “Sorry dad but Leo looked so fluffy and cute. Please he was pleading for a belly rub!” I said as I looked at my dad. He just smiled at me and patted my back. “OK sweetie I understand but let’s not pet Leo while he is working. I can ask Greg to stop by after his shift and give you time with Leo away from the others. But please don’t do that or show that you understand our War cats or others might see it as a weakness.” my dad says as he pulls me in for a hug. “Can you explain what a War cat is? I understand that Leo is one, but how is he any different from a lion?” I asked as we walked back to the house. “Yeah, I’m curious too! Though I wish I could join Meri in
---Sarah’s POV--- It’s been a month since Crispin acted like a fool and tried to attack Meri with kisses or something. For it took the entire day to break whatever trance or hold Meri put him in or whatever it was. Though once he was free, he asked about Meri then clammed up and refused to talk. Though from what Meri had explained before lunch and how the king responded to my intel told me that it was Meri’s doing or power. I tried to talk with Meri over the next few weeks but once her teacher caught wind of it, he shut it down. I had no problem with it, but I did wish Mr. Bell would look in to it. Though I think the king was the one to shut it down. As I thought of the talk we had weeks back. ~ (^_^) ~ Two weeks ago ~ (^_^) ~ “Sarah, can we talk?” Mr. Bell asked me after his session with Meri. She was focused on the book he gave her to read. Nodding yes, we walked out of the study and down the hall a ways. “Sarah, I know you
---Merida’s POV--- Learning about a new civilization wasn’t hard but hearing about how your ancestors are the reason for the way the world is today, is crazy! I can’t stop thinking about how scared my grandmother was when she decided to leave her home planet for a place that was out there but never seen by any living person she knew. Then again it was crazy to learn that she did this on the word of some being. Though not just any being but the soul/ essence/ spirit of her home world Crustia. On top of that she was all alone. Her uncle the king had just died on the battlefield and her cousins, the next in line, and her aunt were lost in the destruction of the palace a few days later. *Yeah my grandmother wasn’t even in line for the throne, especially since she was so young and an orphan.* I can’t even imagine what she was going through after maybe just getting over losing her parents and now her uncle and his family are gone. Plus, all th
---Zander’s POV--- The last of our lunch rush had left and I had just finished cleaning up and putting away the ingredients. Sighing, I grabbed the empty dish pan to collect the other dishes as I stepped out and looked for Ma. “So, about my earlier suggestion…” I started only to get hit with a rag in the chest, which luckily landed in the dish pan. Putting it on the counter, I grabbed the rag and started wiping down the counter. Looking up I came face to face with an angry Ma. “Zan, you have proven a capable worker and a good cook, but how can you ask this?” she demands as she settles in the closet booth. “I agreed to last night but now this! Zan how can you trust them, after what they did?” she asks me. “Because in truth they really didn’t do anything.” Rasing my hand as she goes to once again remind me of the guns, which were securely locked in the safe in the office right at this moment. “Yes, they pointed guns at us and d
---Ericson’s POV--- “My liege! My liege needs me. You are leaving her alone with those dogs. Please, we need to go back. MY LIEGE!” Crispin keeps saying as he fights to go back to his room. “Crispin stop!” RJ said as we struggled to get him down the stairs and to one of the holding cells in the basement. “Crispin! Yo man stop fighting us.” “RJ save your words he can’t hear us.” My king says coming up behind us. I was surprised to see him with us and not tending to Merida. She looked shaken up by what happened. Plus, it seemed she had reminisced, given she was asking about Nixie. “My king is Merida, ok?” I ask after shoving Crispin in and shutting the door before he can whirl around and escape. “Eric I’m needed here for the moment. But yes, Merida is fine. Miguel is doing his job and helping with that. But I need to fix this before we lose him.” My king explains as he points to Crispin. I knew something was wrong. C
