♠️ Chapter 4♠️

Before Elizabeth could take her leave, A police hilux car pulled in at the scene and as soon as the car parked, 3 police men came down from the car and approached Elizabeth.  

Police officer 1 "Madam! What's going here? 

Elizabeth" Uh.. Are you talking to me? 

Police officer 2 " Of course he's talking to you! We heard an explosion. Are you the cause of it? 

Elizabeth" Well yes. 

Police officer 3 " Wonders shall never end! Why did you burn the car? 

Elizabeth" I had to. My colleagues are in the flames. 

Police officer 2 " Jesus Christ! Did you have an accident? 

Elizabeth" (laughs) No silly. I set the car on fire. 

Police officer 2 " But you said your colleagues are in there? 

Elizabeth" Isn't it obvious? I killed them. (Laughs) 

Police officer 3 " Blood of Jesus. This one dey craze o. (This one is a mad lady) 

Elizabeth" What did you just call me? 

Police officer 1 " Madam! Put your hands in the air. 

Police officer 2" You're under arrest. If you move we will shoot. 

Elizabeth " With what? I don't see any gun. 

Police officer 2" GRAB AM!! (Hold her) 

Amidst that tension, 2 of the police men charge in to grab hold of Elizabeth but before they could touch her, she slips past them and takes off with great speed. Before long, the police men enter their car and chase Elizabeth who was already far away from them. As they chase her down the road, they notice how fast she was moving even though their car itself was going very fast. 

Police officer 2  " Jesus. See as she dey run o. (Jesus see how she is running) 

Police officer 3 " Na which kind lady be this? I hope say she no be winch? (what type of a lady is this, hope she is not a witche) 

Police officer 1 " Forget am jor! Add more speed jare. Carry am go 180. (Forget her pls, add more speed, hit it to 180)

Meanwhile  despite how fast she was going, Elizabeth notices that the police car was gradually gaining on her, She quickly thinks of a way to get rid of the police men. In that moment, she sees and picks up a big stone and then slows down a little waiting for the police car to get closer. Immediately, she notices the Hilux just a few meters away from her, She aims with precise accuracy at the windshield of the car, throwing the stone hard with all her might.  

CRASH 💥. 

After swirling through the air, the stone crashes into the windshield, making it hard for the police men to see where they're going. Instantly, the driver hit the brakes really hard that the car tumbled and crashed, rolling a couples on the hard paved road. 

As soon as everything was quiet, Elizabeth casually hops to the police car as she seems the police men coming out of it. As soon as she get there, she pulls out another gun with a silencer from her jacket and shoots every one of the police men on the head, killing them on the spot. After she was done, she checks her face on the broken glass of the Hilux before laughing and disappearing into the darkness.

Sigh! What a day. Being a detective isn't easy at all. 2 days ago, I rounded a tape case successfully and now here I am working on some stupid stack pile of files. 

After hours of going through the files my work was finally done and it was time for me to get home to my fiancee. Just as I was about to take my leave, my partner Det. Garba confronted me with another case. 

Garba " Ijeoma, we have work to do. 

Ijeoma" Let me be jor. I'm tired and I have to get home to Michael. 

Garba " Quit your whining. The Captain wants us to go check it out. 

Ijeoma" Jesus! What's with this case? How bad is it? 

Garba " 3 police officers had been killed in cold blood  and 3 civilians were found in a car, all burnt to crisp. 

Ijeoma" Maybe it's a car accident.  

Garba " Nope, the car was perfectly fine. There's no bumps or dent on the car. We have a serial killer on the loose. 

Ijeoma" (sighs) Alright then. Let's go.

I hated this kind of case that shows up unexpectedly . It always ruins whatever plans I have in my agenda but there was nothing I could do to avoid it, after all this is where I get my source of income. 

30 minutes later, Garba and I arrived at the scene where the police men were murdered, their car was in a bad shape not to mention their heads which was nasty bullet holes.  

Ijeoma " This is a mess. 

Garba" Yeah, whoever did this is certainly a smart killer. 

Ijeoma " What do you mean? 

Garba" Didn't you observe the car? There's a big stone on the wind shield. These dead officers were out maneuvered. 

Ijeoma " Hmm, is there anything we can use to track the killer? 

Garba " Nope. 

Ijeoma " God! Being a cop in Nigeria is tough. 

Garba" What do you mean? 

Ijeoma " I was hoping we'd examine the bullets in the heads of the police men but we don't have the resources to do that, even if we did, How can we trace the killer when we don't have surveillance? Security in this country is really slipping. 

Garba" Keep your opinions to yourself. Don't let the others hear you. Let's go to the other crime scene. 

Sooner afterwards, Garba and I drove to the other crime scene and it was uglier than the first one. The victim's were burnt beyond recognition, the sight was so disgusting and gross that I nearly vomited. 

Garba " Subhanallah! Who would do such a thing? 

Ijeoma" Only a sick and heartless individual. Have the victims being identified? 

Garba " No not yet. Their bodies will be taken to the hospital for an autopsy. 

Ijeoma " God! This case is going to hard. Without surveillance, there's no way we can find this criminal. 

Garba "Well, Once the victims have been identified, we might get something. 

In that moment, Our captain's car arrived at the scene. After parking his car, The captain came out and approached me and Garba with a foul look on his face. 

Ijeoma " Greetings sir. 

Garba" Evening captain. 

Felix "Detective, I'm assigning you both to a new case. You're both relieved of this case. 

Ijeoma" What's the new case sir? 

Felix " Haven't you heard the news? Four prominent men have been killed earlier this evening among which are Com. Badmus, Prince Adejumo of Oyo, Chief Okafor chairman of the POP congress party and lastly Alhaji Gambo member of the house of representative.

All of these men were murdered in cold blood. I want you both to work hard to crack this case. Find out who the killers are, what they look like Who hired them and their place of abode? Go to any lengths to find them! I want them dead or alive. Is that clear? 

Ijeoma " Yes sir. 

Garba" Affirmative. 

Felix  "Good, report to my office tomorrow morning to collect the files. Have a good night.
