THE BITTER TASTE OF FAILURE

For a man like Edmund Hamilton who was used to dishing out orders while others obeyed him to the letter, he didn't enjoy being ordered by the uniformed officer seating before him.

The woman seemed to take pleasure in the fact that she kept him on his toes. Despite his attempts to conceal his fears, it was plainly written on his face that he was scared of what the outcome of this surprise visit meant for him.

Beads of sweat gathered on his forehead and rolled down the sides of his face. When he finally opened his mouth to speak again, his two minutes had been exhausted.

"Whatever you think you have on me, I can assure you that it isn't real. Someone must have framed me for this."

Detective Adams remained unfazed.

"Is that all you have to say?"

Edmund inhaled deeply.

"Okay, fine. I can provide my alibi but not immediately. You have to give me some time to get in contact with him and explain what's going on to him."
