CHAPTER 63

RISING COMPLICATIONS

Lila sat on the couch, blowing the hot coffee she had made. Picking up the remote, she turned on the television to watch the morning program of her favorite channel.

Scrolling through her phone while waiting for the television to finish processing, her fingers automatically clicked on the HOT NEWS that popped up on her phone.

“Popular billionaire Grey Shun faints over his daughter's kidnapping at school!”

She froze.

Her eyes flinched and ears perked up when the television finally came on, and she heard the newscaster giving a report on the current happenings in the city.

She stared triumphantly at the bold black caption at the bottom of the screen. “THE YOUNG MAGNATE, GREY SHUN, IS SAID TO HAVE FAINTED OVER THE REALIZATION OF HIS DAUGHTER'S KIDNAP,”What!Without hesitation, she scrolled through her phone contacts.

“Hello, Derrick,” she said as soon as the person on the other end of the phone picked up.

Are you talking to me?” Elena asked casually, pretending as if she were lost in some deep thoughts for long.“Of course, she's talking to you,” Amelia cut in.“Please, Mrs. Elena, what did you just say about my mother?” “Oh, y-your mother,” Elena stuttered and smiled suggestively.“I didn't say anything about your mother. If you heard anything, it's probably a slip of the tongue on my side,” Elena defended herself curtly.Lila smiled inwardly but masked her amusement with a stunned expression. That means you'll be coming for regular check ups once a week,” the doctor said after close observation of Grey for a few days after regaining his consciousness.“Thank you, doctor,” Grey mentioned and nodded with a smile.“Thank God your health is back to normal now. I think it's time for me to take my leave,” Lila mentioned and waved at Grey, smiling suggestively. The piercing eyes of Cynthia rolled between Grey and Lila. Immediately, she went and stood at the mirror, having a full glance of her beauty, her face flushed with smiles. If she could be as beautiful as this, she wondered how excessively beautiful she'll look when she changes into something nice and wears makeup. As she finished staring at her elegant features which would not waste time to get any man yearning crazily for her, she grabbed her phone on the bedside table and placed a call across to Brian immediately.“Hey, Brian, are you home?” Lila asked; her tone was a clear evidence of her happy mood. Brian didn't need to ask, because he was familiar with that attitude of hers already. He knows what would come next if he dared to answer her with a ‘no.’“Not really. Without much waste of time, he signaled the waitress, and she showed up immediately to take their orders. After talking for a while as they ate and drank, Grey stirred up the main topic that had brought them to the dinner.“I'm sincerely sorry about everything that Cynthia did to you at the hospital. I mean, she should be happy that you saved my life and not the other way round,” Grey said apologetically, putting on a pitiful look.Lila sneered in her heart. To be honest, she was still mad at him for doing nothing when he saw Cynthia's violent reactions towards her. But the message looks rather harmless. He thought to himself, and without hesitation, his hands quickly typed, ‘Sure, we can,’ followed by the send button.“Perfect!” Lila exclaimed, and immediately, she texted him the time and address. “Good morning, sir,” the maids and the security guards at the gate greeted Grey as he left for work. Grey stood and glared at her dangerously. “Tell me, Cynthia. What more do I need to know before you finally get locked up in the psychiatric?” He asked with a cold and resolute tone. Hoping for an answer from the crazy woman, all he could get was an intense stare into his eyes. “Sir, the ambulance is here,” one of the maids ran to inform Grey the moment she saw the ambulance drive in. “Thank you,” Grey said politely and nodded. He took a step closer to Cynthia, grabbed her chin in a painful manner with his bloodshot eyes, and whispered into her ears, “You can choose to remain mute for the rest of your life; that, I don't care, but you see that which you're hiding from me? That means you invited me here to kill me, right?” Lila reprimanded angrily.“I'm really sorry, Miss Rick's. Please…” Grey was talking, but Cynthia shut him up immediately.“Cut the crap, Miss Rick's or whatever you call yourself!” Cynthia ranted, looking keenly at Lila's skin, especially her neck, expecting to see it filled with rashes as that's normally her first symptom of garlic and ginger allergy, but to the greatest surprise, Lila's neck was healthy and hearty without any scratches or a trace of rashe

But there he was at her back, fully dressed in his own captivating outfit already.“Brian, are you sure this is a good idea? I don't want Cynthia to feel bad.
