CHAPTER 5 - A THREAT?

KIANA'S POV

It's been over a week now that I met Pierce at the restaurant and I still can't believe that I allowed myself to be pushed into asking him to marry me but the surprising part is the fact that he actually agreed... Right from when he sent the bottle of wine to our table, Lucy started persuading me to ask him and even when he was talking to us at the table she still didn't stop till I took the bait.

It's been three weeks since I received that letter that motivated me into trying again and I can't believe how much progress I have made since there and here I am preparing to go over to Pierce's office this afternoon to sign the contract papers... I am one step closer to laying my hands on my inheritance and I am so happy that I won't have to disappoint my dad even though he is not here.

" Wow girl, you look so beautiful in that dress." Lucy complimented immediately she entered the room while I checked myself out in the vanity and I agree with her because the dress compliments my body type perfectly. I am wearing a black color chain detail hollow out sleeveless drawstring ruched bodycon dress that stopped right below my knee.

" Thanks you look so beautiful too and you honestly don't have to come with me you know, we have already agreed on the terms of the contract marriage and the duration, what I am going for is just the signing. I can totally do this alone and you can have the time to do personal stuff." I said because Lucy has been all about helping me meet up with my deadline for the marriage clause and I feel bad she doesn't have time for herself.

" Hell no kiki, it's not happening. There is no way I will allow you do this alone, like you said it's just signing and we will be back in no time, so let's go." She said sternly which made me laugh because she has a playful face and there is no way I can take her seriously.

" Alright fine, if you insist." I said and decided not to argue with her because experience has thought me that there is no winning an argument with her.

I checked myself one last time in the vanity before I grabbed my bag and made a move to leave the room while Lucy walked in front of me but my movement was halted when my phone rang, which made me realize that I didn't even pick it up to begin with... I went back to my dresser to get the phone then I checked and realized that it's a text from an unknown number.

UNKNOWN NUMBER:

" I'm am doing this because I have chosen to give you a chance but if you love life, I will advise you to stay the fuck away from Pierce. I don't care if it's a contract marriage or not, just stay the fuck away from him because he is mine but if you proceed to sign the documents, then get ready for war because I will fucking make your life misery and you will regret the very first day you met Pierce... Consider this a headstart because if you don't leave my man alone, I will come after you in more ways than you can count till you become a shadow of yourself, be fucking wise."

I read the text and I suddenly don't know if I am dreaming or if this is reality, I don't understand why someone will be threatening me because of someone I am not even dating.

" You need to see this Lucy." I said as I rushed to the living room with my phone and showed the text to her.

" What, this is crazy Kiki. Why will someone threaten you over something that isn't even real, this person sounds serious and dangerous. We can't go ahead with this, we just have to find someone else because this is too risky." Lucy said as she sat down and started removing her shoes.

" No Lucy I won't stop, he is the only guy I found that agreed to do this with me. Who knows when I will find someone else, I am going ahead with it and whoever sent the text will just have to understand that this is only temporary." I said sternly and made my way to the door.

" Are you sure about this Kiana, this looks too dangerous." She asked but she wore her shoes and followed me out of our apartment.

I know that maybe I am about to do something stupid but I can't just chicken out because one faceless person asked me to stop, this is my only chance to fulfill my dad's wish and I will do it no matter the cost.

I drove quickly to Pierce office while Lucy have me more than a thousand reasons why I shouldn't do it but by the time I parked at the parking lot of his company, Lucy finally realized that my mind is made up...

" Come in." Someone called from the office immediately I knocked and I entered immediately.

Pierce got up from his chair and gave me a hug before he offered us a seat and it's a good thing I allowed Lucy come with me because his friend is also here... Immediately after exchanging pleasantries, Stan brought out the documents for us to sign.

" Here are the documents Kiana, you can go with it and show it to your lawyer and if you are okay with it, you can sign and bring it out." Stan said as he gave me a copy of the papers.

" No it's fine, I don't have a lawyer and I don't have time to start looking for one, I trust you guys so I will sign it now so that we can proceed with other things." I said as I flipped 5he pages to the point I need to sign.

" Are you sure about this Kiki, don't forget about the text." Lucy pointed out and tried one more time to make me change my mind but I ignored her and signed the papers.

" Okay then, since we are done with the signing we can meet up in two days to discuss the next step because I have some other meetings today." Pierce said just as someone entered the office and then we said our goodbyes and Lucy and I left the office.

To be honest, I was a little scared to go ahead with my plans especially after the text but I just had to because I don't know if I will have this opportunity. We made a beeline to the car and I made a sigh of relief as soon as I got to my safe space but then my phone rang immediately and it's another text.

UNKNOWN NUMBER:

" Welcome to hell bitch."
