Brenda's POV

"No, please! Don't do this to me," I cried out bitterly as the water dripping from my hair to my face did nothing to stop me from sweating profusely, still as a result of my struggles.

My face had been intermittently dipped into an enormous bucket of water for minutes, and every round of the cruel torture felt like the last moments of my life.

I didn't know how I managed to survive the last four rounds. Now that the torture was about to be repeated, I felt like it could be the last one. I might not be able to hold my breath for too long and finally suffocate to death.

"I didn't do it, I swear. Please let me go!" I pleaded, squirming to free myself from the chair I was tied to.

But all my pleas were futile because, once again, my head was dipped into the pool of water, and I was desperately fighting for my life.

Suddenly, I jolted to life to see that I hadn't only been having a nightmare, but Vanessa had also been right in front of me, pouring water on my face to wake me u

Lucian's POVAfter stirring tiredly on my bed a few times, my eyes fluttered open. Before I could glance at the time, the streaks of sunlight filtering through the cotton drapes were the first thing that caught my attention, making me fear that I had overslept.“Shit,” I cursed when I glanced at my clock, which read 8:30 a.m.—a confirmation that I was late for work.As the CEO, no one would dare to question me for my tardiness, but I had trained myself to always get to work on time. Then, just before I could clamber out of bed, realization dawned on me—it was Saturday. I didn’t go to work on weekends.A breath of relief escaped my lips, but it was short-lived. As soon as my mind registered the day, memories from last night, which stress had buried deep, started flooding back into my head like the waves of the ocean. No wonder I slept in. I barely got any sleep last night.I let out a frustrated sigh and raked a hand through my hair. Why the hell do I feel so restless?Since I left th

Lucian’s POVThe moment Vanessa’s eyes landed on us, Brenda mumbled a quick excuse and slipped away, vanishing down the hallway before I could utter a word.I watched her retreating figure for a split second before turning my attention back to Vanessa. She stood rigid, her arms loosely crossed, her expression carefully blank. But I knew Vanessa too well to be fooled by her composed exterior. The slight twitch at the corner of her jaw, the way her fingers clenched slightly before relaxing—it all screamed tension.A strange sense of unease crawled up my spine. Was she mad? Jealous? Still upset about last night?I parted my lips, but no words came out. I felt uncertain about what to say. It wasn’t like I had done anything wrong, but something told me that in Vanessa’s eyes, my interaction with her new maid had meant something. When I finally took a step toward her, I half-expected her to do what she did last night—cling onto me, flash that teasing smirk, throw a flirty remark my way.Bu

Brenda's POV The car hummed softly as Vanessa's driver maneuvered through the streets, the gentle sway of the vehicle lulling me into deep thought. My fingers absentmindedly traced the edges of the shopping bag resting beside me, but my mind was far from the errands Vanessa had sent me on.Lucian.The name alone sent a strange shiver down my spine, and I exhaled slowly, trying to shake off the effect he had on me.I had met him twice now.Once at the ball—the night my life fully turned upside down . And then again, in Vanessa’s house. The moment I stumbled into him, my breath had caught in my throat. I had stood frozen, waiting, dreading—wondering if he would recognize me. If his sharp blue eyes would widen with realization, connecting the dots between the woman who had hidden in his mansion that night and the maid standing before him.But he hadn't.Not entirely, at least. For a split second, his gaze had lingered on me, his brows knitting together as if he was trying to place me.

  • THE BILLIONAIRE'S DANGEROUS LOVE   Chapter 11

Brenda's POV The moment I stepped out of the car when I got back to the house, my blood ran cold.A police vehicle sat right in front of the house, its presence an ominous reminder of the nightmare I was still running from. I froze, my grip tightening around the shopping bags, my breath hitching. There was only one officer outside, standing rigidly near the car, his posture radiating alertness as if he were guarding something—or someone. My throat tightened. The rest of them must be inside. For a brief second, panic clawed at my chest, threatening to choke me, but I forced myself to breathe. Stay calm, Brenda. Just act normal.I took a steadying breath, squared my shoulders, and started toward the house, making sure my steps didn’t falter. The officer by the car barely spared me a glance, but my paranoia whispered that he could sense my fear. Don’t let it show. Don’t give him a reason to suspect you.As I pushed through the front door and stepped inside, the air grew heavier, suffo

Lucian's POVBeads of perspiration spread across my face as I gripped the steering wheel, my knuckles tightening every few minutes as the storm in my mind refused to settle. The streets blurred past in streaks of grey and muted colors, but I barely noticed them. My thoughts were louder than the world outside, tangling into a mess that made my pulse thrum with agitation.Since last night, I hadn’t had a moment of peace.Going to Vanessa’s house was supposed to bring me clarity, a final resolution to the unease that had been gnawing at me ever since that damn ball. I thought I would confront Vanessa, clear things up, and walk away without a second thought. But instead, I left more confused than ever.Vanessa had lied to me.She had told me she didn’t love me.I had believed her.And like a damn fool, I had walked away thinking my problems were over—thinking I could move on, bury my unsettling thoughts about the masked woman, about that strange, fleeting connection I felt with her, and

  • THE BILLIONAIRE'S DANGEROUS LOVE   Chapter 13

Lucian's POVComing back from the hospital, I was already in a bad mood. First, I had just wasted my time making sure I wasn’t dying from some rare disease called “Falling for Every Woman I Meet Syndrome,” and second, my very serious heart concerns had turned into an unintentional comedy show for Dr. Russell. His laughter still echoed in my ears as though he was still seated before me. The fact that he even laughed till he fell off his chair made me feel less of myself back there. But damn his laughter. I would only put his advice to use. He should be grateful that the advice was the only thing that saved him.I just wanted a moment of peace. But of course, peace was a luxury I was never allowed to have when more than one woman was involved. The moment I stepped into my house, the first thing I saw made my stomach drop—my father and stepmother, Margot, sitting comfortably in my living room, waiting for me like a bad omen.I halted at the doorway, gripping the doorknob as my jaw clench

Lucian's POV The moment my parents left, frustration boiled over, and I slammed my fist onto the table. The sharp sound echoed through the room, but it did nothing to ease the anger simmering in my chest.I clenched my jaw. What the hell was I thinking?I had let myself get caught in my stepmother’s web, agreeing to a compromise that now felt like a trap. I was so focused on shutting my father up that I’d overlooked the most crucial part—who the hell was I supposed to marry? The answer was obvious.Vanessa.If I went ahead with this nonsense, the only option everyone would shove in my face was her.I ran a frustrated hand through my hair, pacing the room. No way. No damn way.I wasn’t about to let them back me into a corner like that.I needed a loophole. And then, just like that, it hit me.Brenda.My footsteps halted, and I lifted my head as her image flashed through my mind. The fiery maid Vanessa had been reprimanding. The same woman who had, for some bizarre reason, left me feel

Brenda's POVWhen I got to this house and I only did general chores for Vanessa's parents, though I knew they were hostile too, they treated me as invincible most of the time, yet I was still okay with that. But ever since the time Vanessa had made me her personal maid, she kept using me like a slave and still had me do other general chores when there were few other maids around to handle some of the tasks.Despite how I've been overwhelmed lately with chores and I get to brood most of the time over my pathetic life, the more I tried not to break down, the more Vanessa kept making my life miserable. While I stood there before the duo and she kept hurling insults at me, I held my breath as long as I could.I fought back the burning sensation in my eyes, the ache in my throat. I tried—God knows I tried—to keep my tears from falling. But no matter how hard I tried to swallow them down, I lost the battle.A lone tear broke free, sliding down my cheek.Panic surged through me.I couldn’

My entire body trembled as panic surged through me, drowning out all rational thought.I had to get her to a hospital.Now.With a deep breath, I swallowed the fear choking me and gathered her in my arms, staggering to my feet. Lucian’s POVMy fingers trembled slightly as I fast-forwarded through the CCTV footage, scanning each second with sharp focus. The tension in the room was suffocating, the only sounds being the low hum of the computer and the occasional sharp intake of my breath. My eyes burned from staring too long at the screen, but I couldn’t afford to blink—not until I found something. And then I did.Vanessa appeared on the screen, emerging from the restroom. Her posture was relaxed, unaware of the impending danger. Then her phone rang.I watched as she pulled it out of her purse, answering with a quick swipe. I couldn’t hear what was being said, but her reaction was immediate—her brows lifted in surprise, then a slow, eager smile spread across her face. Whatever was being told to her, it excited her. Then, without hesitation, she turned and started walking. My pulse spiked as I tracked her movements. She wasn’t heading back to the party—she was heading toward the exit.“Where the hell are you g

Lucian’s POVIt had been five weeks since Vanessa was released and reunited with her sister and mother. Five weeks since the dust began to settle, since the chaos that once tore through all our lives finally started to fade into something resembling peace. In those five weeks, everything had changed. My father had been sentenced to ten years in prison, a fate that somehow felt both too lenient and just enough. Meanwhile, Grayson had received life imprisonment—a fitting end for a man who had thrived on destruction. But justice didn't stop there.Since Grayson had stolen Miller’s capital—money meant for Mrs. Elizabeth’s fashion design business—along with her entire business idea, the court had ruled that the business rightfully belonged to her. The legal process to transfer ownership back to her was still ongoing, but soon, she would finally reclaim what had always been hers.Yes, a lot had changed. And as I sat on the couch, lazily scrolling through my phone, I couldn’t help but feel a

  • THE BILLIONAIRE'S DANGEROUS LOVE   Chapter 76

Vanessa’s POVThe past few days had been nothing short of a nightmare—a slow, painful unraveling of everything I thought I knew about myself.I had always carried myself with an air of superiority, proud of the wealth and power that surrounded me, believing I was untouchable. But now… now, I was nothing. A nobody. The moment Grayson had looked me in the eye and coldly told me that I wasn’t his real daughter, my entire world came crashing down. The man I had spent my entire life seeking validation from, the one I had desperately tried to impress, had never even considered me his own.I was just an adopted child. The words had cut deeper than I could have ever imagined. And if that wasn’t enough, yesterday’s revelation had struck the final blow—the one that shattered me completely.Officer Smith had walked into this cell, looked me dead in the eye, and delivered a truth so painful I had struggled to breathe.Brenda.Brenda, the woman I had despised with every fiber of my being. Brenda’s POVThe air in the hospital room remained thick with tension, the weight of Officer Smith’s revelation still settling over us. Grayson had been the one to order my father’s murder. The thought alone sent another wave of cold rage through me, but before I could fully process it, Officer Smith’s gaze suddenly shifted.I noticed how his eyes moved—from Mrs. Elizabeth to me, then back to her again. A slow, almost knowing smile spread across his face, and I felt a strange sense of unease rise within me.“What is it?” Lucian asked, his brows furrowing slightly.Officer Smith finally spoke, his voice carrying a kind of anticipation that made my heart pound faster.“Mrs. Elizabeth,” he began, his eyes flickering between the both of us again. “It would interest you to know that Brenda—seated right here—is your biological daughter.”The words hit me like a slap.I felt my body jolt slightly as I blinked rapidly, my mind trying to process what I had just heard. My mouth parted slightly,

Brenda's POVI couldn’t just blurt it out.Not like this. Not when Mrs. Elizabeth had only just regained her memory, not when she was still fragile from years of lost time. I feared that the shock might be too much for her, that her body—already weakened from everything she had endured—might not be able to handle the pain of this truth. But she wasn’t going to stop asking. Her panicked eyes searched mine, pleading for an answer I didn’t want to give. The desperation in her voice clawed at my heart. So I did the only thing I could.I stepped closer, lowering myself beside her hospital bed.Her breath hitched as she looked up at me, hope flickering in her gaze, waiting for me to say that everything was fine—that Miller was alive and well, waiting somewhere for her.But I couldn’t give her that.I swallowed hard, my throat tight with emotion, and placed a gentle hand on her shoulder.I didn’t say a word.I didn’t have to.The moment my fingers squeezed lightly, the warmth of my touch mea

My heart pounded so loudly in my chest that it almost drowned out the voices around me.I turned sharply to Lucian, my mind racing. “How—” The words barely left my lips before Officer Smith stepped forward, cutting me off with a firm but curious tone.“How did you know that name?” Officer Smith asked Lucian, his eyes narrowing. “How did you know Miller George was her husband?”Lucian exhaled, rubbing a hand down his face as if deciding how best to explain what he knew. His expression was serious—more serious than I had ever seen it.“I overheard it,” Lucian admitted. “Back when Grayson and his father were arguing. They mentioned his name.”My breath hitched. “What?”Lucian nodded, his eyes flickering to me before returning to Officer Smith. “I didn’t think much of it at the time,” he continued, “but from what

Brenda’s POVAs Lucian turned the knob and swung the door open, the sight of Officer Smith standing there sent a ripple of surprise through the room.A thick silence settled as everyone took in his unexpected presence. Mrs. Elizabeth shifted slightly in her seat, her expression puzzled. I could sense Lucian stiffen beside me, his sharp eyes scanning the officer as if trying to gauge the reason behind his visit."Good evening," Officer Smith greeted, his voice even but carrying an air of urgency. His gaze flickered over everyone before finally settling on me. "Ms. Brenda, Mr. Lucian, I see I’ve come at the right time."A tight knot formed in my stomach. Why was he here? How did he even find us? My fingers clenched slightly at my sides as my mind raced with possible reasons. Was it about the investigation? Had something happened? Was it bad news?"If you’re wondering how I found you," he continued as if reading the unspoken questions in our eyes, "I went to your house first, Ms. Brenda.

Brenda's POVMrs. Elizabeth’s tears flowed freely, her shoulders quivering slightly as the weight of her words settled over us like a thick, suffocating fog. I sat frozen, trying to grasp the depth of what she had just revealed. She had been pregnant… with twin girls.Twin girls. My heart pounded in my chest. I could barely breathe as she continued speaking through her sobs."I had no choice but to leave my husband," she murmured, her voice raw with pain. "I was terrified. I thought I was protecting him… protecting myself. I didn’t even tell him I was carrying his children."Lucian sat motionless beside me, his usually sharp and composed features softened by an emotion I couldn’t quite place. His hand curled into a tight fist against his thigh, his knuckles turning white."I gave birth alone," Mrs. Elizabeth went on, her gaze distant, as if she was reliving those painful memories. "Two beautiful girls… my little angels. I raised them myself. It wasn’t easy, but I tried. I did everythi
