The Contract

Episode Four.

"I will marry you!" Sofie exclaimed looking into his eyes, she then looked down, her heart beating faster, her eyes started to tear up, the thought of getting into a contract Marriage made her weak, it was like caging her entire life, her dreams and future.

Mr Asher looked at her, a wicked grin creeped out of his lips.

"Sit!" He ordered.

Sofie took a deep breath before pulling the chair gently next to her, she quietly sat down waiting for the next action from Asher but he just grabbed a telephone next to him.

"Report in five." He ordered and dropped the phone back.

It was an awkward silence that filled the entire office, with Mr Asher smirking and Sofie trying to process what was going to happen next in her life.

Suddenly, a soft knock was heard.

"Come in." Asher replied in a deep yet calm voice, he arranged his suit and glanced at his laptop, the door opened, his manager John walked in, wearing a blue and white suit.

"Hey." He waved at Sofie with a smile and she returned the smile.

"Yes, Mr Asher." John said afterward.

"I need you to call Barrister Caleb right now."

Asher ordered.

"Okay? But why?" John asked.

Asher narrowed his eyebrows before clasping his hands together.

"Okay, I have some work for him." He answered.

Sofie tried her best not to hiss at his annoying indirect response like he could simply tell John what he wanted to hear instead of running behind the bushes.

"What contract?" John questioned.

"Since when do you have the right to question me!" Asher growled.

"I'm sorry, I just feel like..."

"Anyways, I want him to prepare a contract marriage documents for me."

Asher interrupted him.

John opened his mouth, shocked.

"What...what? Contract marriage? What are you talking about? Why contract marriage?"

John asked confused.

"Yes, I can't allow Jasper to win that contract when it clearly belongs to me, you said it right? I need to get married to be mature enough to get that contract from Jasper, we all know that our innovations are far better than his, I can't allow a dumb reason to take away from me!" Asher exclaimed throwing his hands off the air while Sofie just watched.

"Yes, but Contract Marriage is wrong! Asher listen to me, it can bring us a lot of trouble, we basically lying to them, I don't even understand, who are you getting married to! This is a big risk!" John ranted.

"Life itself is a big risk, John, I need this contract no matter what, I don't care about what is right and what is wrong, and stop acting like my Dad and do what I said!" Asher ordered.

John sighed and paced up and down before looking at Asher.

"Look Asher, yeah, you are my boss, but you are also my friend, I can't watch you put your entire career at risk, have you ever thought about what will happen if someone knows about it?" John asked.

"No one will know, unless you decide to say out, stop giving me advice, I know what is right for me, now do as I said before you see the other side of me." Asher answered.

"Fine then, who are you getting married to?huh?" John questioned.

"Her." Asher pointed at Sofie, John looked at her and nodded his head then angrily stormed out of the office.

Asher hissed and leaned on the chair.

*

*Some moments later*

Sofie tiredly watched Asher as he responded to so many emails, she yawned angrily, waiting for him to say something, after what seemed like forever, he finally closed the laptop and stood up

He wore his suit and arranged his tie before heading to the door.

"Wait...where are you going?" Sofie asked.

"Oh, you are waiting for me to tell you what to do?" He asked back.

"Oh so, You want me to magically expect that I should know what is in your mind?"

Sofie scoffed.

"Let's go." He replied.

"To where?" Sofie interrogated but instead of getting a reply, he ignored her question and pushed the door open, then walked out of the office, Sofie had no option but to run after him.

They finally arrived in front of well polished and glamorous Mercedes Benz.

Sofie almost gasped at how beautiful and expensive the car looked.

"Money speaks."

The driver rushed out of the car and quickly opened Mr Asher's door, he majestically entered.

"Come in." He said to Sofie and she carefully entered the car, trying as hard not to mess anything up as she never thought that in her entire life she would be inside such a luxurious car.

Immediately after she entered, the car zoomed off.

The car alighted in front of a court.

The driver opened their doors and they walked out of the car.

Asher removed his sunglasses and checked his watch.

"Listen to me, I need you to act very cool and talk only when I ask you to, don't mess this up for me, okay." He ordered.

Sofie nodded and they walked in.

"Hey." Asher waved at the receptionist.

"Oh my God, Mr Asher, is this really you?" The lady asked looking so excited.

Sofie scoffed.

"Why is she even happy, look at her." She muttered under her breath.

Asher maintained a straight expression.

"I'm your biggest fan, I followed all your innovations, having you in this world is such a blessing." She added.

"Thank you." He replied.

"Wow, did he just say that? Wow." Sofie said in her mind.

"It's a pleasure, can I help you with anything?" She offered licking her lips.

"Yuck! Disgusting." Sofie rolled her eyes.

"Barrister Caleb, can you lead me to his office?" Asher asked.

"Yeah, sure, it will be my biggest pleasure."

She answered, and led them to the office.

*

*Barrister Caleb's office*

"Longest time, no see, Mr Asher." Barr Caleb exclaimed as they exchanged handshake.

"Yeah, you haven't been steadily in town so yeah." Asher replied.

"Too much work, but I'm glad we met today, hey beautiful lady." Barr Caleb said and exchanged a handshake with Sofie.

"Such a beauty, what's your name?" He asked.

Sofie was about to reply but Asher snapped.

"She's Sofie, Sofia, whatever, can we do what brings me here?" Asher asked rather rudely.

"Sure, have a seat." He replied and they all sat down.

"I guess John had informed my message to you." Asher said.

"Yeah, he did but Asher, I'm not sure about it, why a contract marriage when you can simply just get married." Barr Caleb questioned.

Asher rolled his eyes.

"Please, I have made up my mind, I don't need you or John to lecture me." Asher retorted.

"But don't you think that this can result to a whole of dramas? I mean, you are a public figure, this can affect your reputation, you can just get married to her legally without the contract and divorce her later on."

Barr Caleb stated.

"I want a contract marriage, and yeah, I will definitely divorce her later on but I want everything to be on a paper because..."

He paused and looked into Sofie's eyes

"I can't trust anyone that belongs to poverty."

He spat, his words did hurt Sofie, it was like a sword had been pierced into her heart and she tried hard to maintain her calm.

Like what did he even think of her to be? A betrayer or a fraud?

Barr Caleb noticed the look on her face and how hurt she looked.

"You don't have to be mean to her, you know what, it's okay, the documents are here anyways, I just want to be sure you are making the right decision." He said and placed the documents in front of Asher.

"Give it to her." Asher ordered.

"Don't you want to go through the contract?"

He inquired.

"No, I don't need to, the marriage will be over in six to eight months, and before then, I will give her a golden credit card, that she can use to withdraw any amount." Asher retorted.

"Okay." Caleb said and handed the paper to Sofie.

"You can go through it carefully and sign."

Caleb stated.

She nodded and just went ahead to sign it.

"Wait... you need to go through it, once you sign this contract you have legally become Asher's possession for eight months, he is allowed to kiss you in public and act romantic, share a bed, and even much more when needed." Caleb exclaimed.

"Much more? How?" Sofie polled, her heart racing.

"Sex, he can be intimate with you." Barrister Caleb answered.

"What!" Sofie opened her eyes wide and dropped the pen then looked at Asher who had a big evil smirk on his face.
