THE HARRINGTON'S MANSION

The golden morning light streamed through the glass windows of the Harrington's mansion causing warm hues over the dinning table where the Harrington family gathered for breakfast. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee intertwined with the sweet scent of pancakes and syrup, creating a cozy atmosphere. Harrison and Crystal, the two young adults of the family, were seated across from their parents, Margaret and Arthur, sharing their morning meal before heading off to work.

As he poured syrup generously over his stack of pancakes, Harrison looked up and broke the early morning calm. "Mom," he began, glancing at Margaret ,who sat with her floral print napkin in her lap, "where were you yesterday? You didn’t come home for dinner."

Margaret pauses mid-sip, putting down her coffee mug. The moment hung in the air, a little heavier than usual. "I had something important to take care of " she replied, her voice firm. " I thought I’d be back in time, but it ran longer than

She stretched her arms, feeling a dull ache in her muscles. It had been a few days since the incident, and she was still recovering. As she sat up in bed, she noticed Mia sitting on the couch, watching her with concern. "Hey, are you okay?" Mia asked, setting aside her book.Carmilla nodded, rubbing her eyes. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just a bit tired."Mia got up and walked over to Carmilla's bed. "Do you want some coffee? I made some earlier."Carmilla smiled weakly. "That sounds great, thanks."As Mia handed her a steaming cup of coffee, Carmilla took a sip and felt a slight boost of energy. "Thanks, Mia. You're a lifesaver."Mia smiled and sat down beside Carmilla on the bed. "So, are you not going to work today?" she asked, eyeing Carmilla's worn-out expression.Carmilla shook her head. "I don't thi

What's on your mind?”Mia takes a deep breath before diving into the sensitive topic.“Are you really enjoying your marriage”.Carmilla's expression turns guarded, and she hesitated before responding.“Yeah! Why is everyone so worry about that”.Mia raises an eyebrow. “Yeah? Carmilla, I mean you never really talk about it”.Carmilla sighs, setting her laptop aside. “Well I'm sorry about that. Okay, I'll just….tell you then. Harrison and I are doing okay. I mean….I didn't have to deal with anything and he doesn't trouble

NEW YORK CITY *****The sun hung high in the sky, casting a warm golden light over the grand mansion as Crystal navigated the driveway. The sprawling estate, with its elegant architecture and well-manicured gardens, was a familiar sight, but today it felt different. Today, it represented a refuge for her brother, Harrison, who sat beside her in the passenger seat, looking a little more pale than usual. Harrison has always been the picture of health, a vibrant young man full of energy, but that day had been different. Earlier, as they were driving to the office, he had suddenly fainted, the color draining from his face, leaving Crystal in a state of panic. It was a frightening moment that had propelled her into action. She had rushed him to the hospital, where the doctor confirmed that it was just a fever — a result of pushing himself too hard without taking the necessary time to rest and recover. As Crystal parked the car and turned off the engine, she could feel the weight of conc

****As Crystal watches him, her heart swells with a mix of love and sorrow. She observes the way his eyelids begins to droop again, his chest rising and falling with the slow, laborious rhythm of his breathing. The room was quiet, punctuated only by the soft simmer of the soup and the occasional creak of the old mansion settling into the night. As the minutes ticked by, Crystal finds herself drifting into memories of their shared childhood. Despite their age difference, she and Harrison had always maintained a close bond. However, their relationship was complex, marred by the unspoken competition for their mother's affection and approval. Crystal recalled the countless times they had played together in the sprawling gardens of their family estate, their laughter ringing out against the backdrop of their mother’s stern expectations. But those carefree days were not without their shadows. Crystal’s thoughts turned to the sacrifices she had made for the family, the choices that had s

****As the night descends deeper, a gentle stillness envelopes the room where Carmilla lays in bed, the soft glow of her phone illuminating her surroundings. The weight of the day lingers in her thoughts, particularly the cryptic words Crystal had spoken earlier that morning. An inexplicable sense of unease settled over her, compelling her to reach out. She felt an overwhelming need to ensure that he was alright. With a sense of urgency, Carmilla picks up her phone and scrolls through her contacts. Her fingers paused momentarily over Harrison's name, a flicker of uncertainty momentarily halting her resolve. Yet, the concern she felt for him was stronger, and she quickly typed out a message. "Hey, are you okay?" she sent, her thumbs racing over the screen. At that moment, Mia, her roommate and confidante, stirred beside her, roused from her slumber by the faint sound of Carmilla's activity. "Who's that?" Mia murmurs, her voice still thick with sleep. Carmilla hesitated, caught bet

MIDNIGHT *****The night air was thick with tension as Vinnie and his crew prepared for their ambush. The deserted warehouse on the outskirts of town loomed before them, a dilapidated structure that had seen better days, now a silent witness to the dangerous game about to unfold. Vinnie, a hardened criminal with a reputation for ruthlessness, was determined to eliminate the one person who had been inching too close to their operation: Detective Ling. His sharp gaze swept over the area, noting each shadow and the way the moonlight danced across the cracked pavement. His men fans out, weapons drawn, their faces set in grim anticipation. They were all armed to the teeth, adrenaline coursing through their veins, ready for the impending confrontation. “Stay alert,” Vinnie commands, his voice a low growl. “We wait for the signal, then we hit them hard.” Just as they were about to set their plan into motion, the sound of sirens sliced through the stillness of the night. The unmistakable

CHAPTER 31*******Inside, the atmosphere was dimly lit, the sterile smell of antiseptic intertwining with the metallic tang of fear. Ling lays there, her face pale against the bright sheets, her breaths shallow yet steady. “Ling,” Leo said softly, his voice soothing yet urgent. “Can you hear me?”She turns her head slightly, meeting his gaze, her eyes fraught with unspoken words. He watched as the paramedics worked quickly around them, attaching an IV, placing oxygen masks on her, huddled in the glow of blinking monitors. “listen the ambulance is here, and we're on our to the hospital. Just hold on tight, okay. you’re tough,” he continues, drawing on their shared memories. “Remember our last mission when I got shot three times in my heart, you said I was going to make it. Even though I thought I was going to die, you kept smiling. So I'm going to say the same thing to you. you’re going to get through this.”The paramedics exchanges quick glances, impressed with Officer Leo’s calm

*****The rhythmic sound of hurrying feet echoes against the polished linoleum floors of the precinct. Officer Martinez felt the weight of an exhausting day pulling at his shoulders as he headed towards the exit with Officer Riley and Officer Sam. They had just finished a tense raid on a known drug den, which officer Leo left them to handle. After they were done in the precinct, they decided to head over to the hospital where detective Ling was operated on.As they stepped outside,Martinez phone buzzes violently in his pocket. He pulls it out, the screen lighting up with a message from Leo that stops his heart from racing: “ How was it? Oh .. But I don't think she is able to entertain guest, do I'll go see her alone”, Martinez said.“We need to go see her too, we won't cause trouble. She is lik

LOS ANGELES Carmilla's And Mia's Apartment *****The morning sunlight gently poured on the apartment building where Carmilla and Mia stays, it cast a warm, golden glow across the tranquil room where Mia slumbered peacefully. The serene atmosphere of the early hours was suddenly disrupted by the shrill, insistent ringing of her phone, which vibrated persistently on the drawer beside the bed.Mia gradually stirred from her slumber, her brow creasing in mild annoyance as she struggled to shake off the remnants of her dreams and acknowledge the unwelcome interruption. The harsh sound of the phone pierced through her haze, slowly coaxing her back to reality. With a soft sigh of exasperation, Mia reluctantly emerged from the warmth of her comforter, stretching out her arm to retrieve her phone. Her fingers instinctively searched for the device, and after a brief moment, she managed to locate it. She then carefully swiped the screen open, wincing slightly as the bright display momentarily

With a sense of urgency propelling him, he quickly threw off the covers, the fabric sliding off his body and pooling at the foot of his bed. He swung his legs over the side and planted his feet on the cool floor, feeling the refreshing chill that contrasted sharply with the warmth. His mind was already racing ahead, thoughts swirling like a tempest. He needed to pack some of his necessities—his phone, his wallet, and a change of clothes—all of which he hurriedly stuffed into a small traveling box. “What could be going wrong with the project? I thought we already reviewed it all over again”, The questions gnawed at him, each one more urgent than the last. With his bag finally in hand, Harrison made his way downstairs, his heart pounding in rhythm with his gentle footsteps. As he reached the bottom of the staircase, he stepped into the dining area where his family was still gathered around the table. His mother, father, and sister were seated, engaged in their morning routine. They lo

*****THE HARRISON'S MANSION This morning, the fever that had plagued him through the night still clung to him, draining his energy and muddling his thoughts. He did not have a proper sleep throughout the night. He also had weird dreams which made it even uncomfortable for him. This morning, his mother had ordered one of the servant to have his breakfast served in his room. Since making an appearance this morning downstairs would be more stress than he needed. She gently insisted that breakfast be served in his room so he could gather himself without the chaos of family chatter and the demands of his busy life. Her order was carried out by the servant, as she makes her way into Harrison's room. The soft knock on the door broke the his quiet rest, since he gave up his sleep due to his nightmare.“Come in,” he called softly, his voice barely a whisper, still thick with fatigue. The door opens slowly, and the servant steps inside, a bright smile on her face. She carried a tray laden wi

******Doctor Peterson approached Aunt Mei, who sat beside her niece's hospital bed, her eyes fixed on Ling's serene face. "Ma'am, I think it's time for you to head home and get some rest. You can revisit Ling tomorrow, and we'll take good care of her in the meantime," he said with a reassuring smile.Ling, who had been quietly observing the conversation, stirred and spoke in a weak but clear voice, "Aunt Mei, I've been telling you the same thing. You need to go home and take care of yourself. The doctors and nurses will take care of me."Aunt Mei's expression softens, and she looked at Ling with a mixture of guilt and concern. "But, dear, I want to be here for you," she said, her voice trembling.Doctor Peterson intervened, his tone firm but gentle. "Aunt Mei, it's our duty to care for Ling, and we'll do everything necessary to ensure her recovery. You need to trust us and take care of yourself. Ling will be in good hands."Aunt Mei nods reluctantly, knowing that the doctor was right

*****Officer Martinez! You can't use force during an interrogation. Let go off him!”, chief Peterson commands, his voice echoing off the walls of the interrogation room. Martinez, still brimming with anger, reluctantly releases Marco, feeling the anger surge through him as he turns away from the table. The gravity of the situation weighs heavily on him; Detective Ling, a respected and well-liked member of their precinct, had endured unimaginable violence. The thought that someone could plan to dismiss her life without permission….."And you," Chief Peterson continues, his voice steady but stern, “Don't think you can easily evade the consequences of your actions. Even if you choose not to disclose Vinnie's whereabouts, rest assured, we have the means to find him.“With his hands stuffed deep in his pockets, Peterson maintains a calm demeanor, attempting to intimidate Marco into revealing the truth. Martinez, however, is barely holding back his rage. “You think that's a valid excuse

*****Martinez adjusted his seat to ease his uncomfortability. His eyes became fixed at the chief's eyes.“Chief,” he replies, his tone measured, “it’s best if Leo doesn’t find out. His reaction might not help the case.” Chief Peterson became a little shocked considering Martinez’s words carefully. Leo was a good officer, but he was also passionate—sometimes too passionate for his own good. The chief had seen Leo’s anger flare when it came to criminals related crimes; it could easily cloud his judgment. “And you think he would go off the rails if he found out?” Peterson asked, curiosity piqued. “Not off the rails, exactly,” Martinez said, his voice dropping slightly as if sharing a secret. “But Leo has a history with Vinnie’s gang. It was his first case and up till ow, he is not able to catch them. More importantly, they hurt people he cares about. If he finds out we have one of them in custody, he might try to confront him directly. That could jeopardize the investigation.” Pet

I haven't seen this side of her before”, Martinez said , stretching the stiffness off his body. After exiting Ling's room, the four of them made their way into the parking lot where Martinez car is being parked. “I parked over here,” he said, taking the lead and gesturing towards the silver sedan nestled among the rows of vehicles.“You’re still the same guy who thinks he can park in the front row because you’re an officer, huh?” joked Leo prompting a laughter that lightens the mood as they followed Martinez.Once in the car, Martinez exchanges glances with Leo.
