Chapter 7:

Louis[POV] 

     While in my office, I was extremely occupied reading  paper works from unfinished projects and contracts I had signed with major top business companies around the business world.

Meanwhile I had my men on alert for any updated event. My enemies may seem to have grown  silent  but they're still on the lookout for any possible flaw to attack again. My past had sharpened  me into becoming who I am today. I spent most of my years learning how to defend myself from them. I had grown  in power and had authority to control people making them fall in line to my every command and play by my rules. 

      About a month ago, Penelope started acting up.I decided to make some deep inquiry about important details, I had left out during the interview. 

I had made my selection rapidly   now I'm in total regret.  I didn't properly  verify her character for any loopholes or misconduct.

        Her agency cover up most of  her secrets and made it hard to detect, I recently discovered that she was linked with a serious attempted murder case about six months ago. Based on my finding, Penelope had a crush on a movie director but her feelings were not reciprocated. Instead he fell for her Assistant when she discovered they were in a relationship, she fired the girl instantly. 

A week later, Her assistant  was found raped and beaten almost to death in a dump site. Such an important detail about her past was hidden away from me.  Her agency had made all evidence of her brutality disappear into thin air as she went into hiding from the public eyes for a particular period of time. Getting married to me would give her a massive comeback in both wealth and power. 

   My instinct tells me that this was not the first time such an incident had taken place.  I struck my fist so hard on my L-shaped glass top office desk in frustration  wishing I could change the hands of time. I just hope my son doesn't get any part of her bad blood since his DNA would be a combination of both parents.

I hope he doesn't inherit her psychopathic traits  and inhumane behavior.  

     Frankly speaking, I was so disappointed in myself for endangering the future of my unborn child. This  would be linked to his birth once the media gets  to know about  our engagement. I would make sure my son stays in my custody when he is born and also keep a close watch on his mother.

     It has been two months since Penelope had my sperm implanted inside her. I made plans to visit the clinic to confirm if she was really pregnant. We had gone through the first stage already, once her pregnancy is confirmed  I would get  engaged to her, then prepare for our wedding. 

     "Please ma'am !, you can't go inside " My secretary's  voiced threads as she reached my office with Penelope who had now entered with much confidence then the last time she was here. she had blossom in her true form. 

    "Sorry your highness, she rushed past me without booking for an appointment " 

My secretary apologized while explaining Penelope's inappropriate behavior.  

     " Shut up!  You filthy thing, do you have any idea who I am?. " 

Penelope said discourteously as she rudely bashed my secretary. 

    Her boorish behavior was not surprising based on what I had just found out about her. 

She eyed my secretary spitefully

"I don't like her!! " She announced.  I raised my eyebrow at her sudden outburst with  foreseen arrogance. 

" Let her be!Dorothy you can leave now!. "

I instructed as I  waved my hand to discharge my secretary. 

I can deal with her.  

  " You have no authority either in my office or company, be sure to remember your place and act right. You're  just an ordinary  basket carrying a golden egg. "

She tried concealing her dissatisfaction over her disposable position. 

   " oh Louis! , 

She cried

" Do not be so rigid..., after all I am carrying your child " She rubbed her belle softly.  

" What's the problem," I asked, not paying her much attention.

    Back in her famous posture she walks towards me. 

   " I sent you an email. Remember,  we plan on seeing  the doctor together. " she announced with a smile. 

When she noticed her smile had no effect on me,  she walked back to relax on my grey coloured modern style rectangular section office couch. This masterpiece was made in its finest quality,  the best microfiber material,the grey color represents the calmness and exquisite nature displayed from its wooden frame.

"When I'm ready to leave, I will send for you", I said, discharging her. 

I ordered her out of my office.

" Louis...., why not join me, let's leave together. "

She kept stalling time, trying to persuade me to join her play couple. 

    I answered her with a glaze of warning then she puffed out of my office. 

Clearly she had knowledge of my unwillingness to act like a couple with her. 

Her pretentious characters were excellent, I had no time to watch her in her performance . 

  Outside my office, she barked orders at my defenseless secretary in a voice that could pull down the whole building  before leaving.

I did nothing because I had to let people believe we were dating at this point before we announced our engagement.

    When the doctor came out with the test result.

He had been hesitating as he read through the result. 

       "Your highness, according to this report Miss Penelope is not pregnant." he said 

"What do you mean, I'm not pregnant."

She erupted in a voice that was starting to give me a headache, she  really needs to control her manners cause it was starting to get  irritating.

      "According to the test results, you're not pregnant,"

The doctor gave her an answer in a resounding voice.

"Prince Louis informed me of your insemination done in New York,  maybe, there you would be given a better explanation why it turned out this way."he stated

I wished  hopefully that this turns out to be true. It could give me a better opportunity to get another option. 

      This conversation dragged me down to New York. I didn't bother bringing  Penelope along mainly because I wasn't ready for her outraging and frustrating attitude. 

In New York,  I found out about a total mix up in the lab before the sperm implantation. 

They messed up with the  wrong  person.  I had my men deal with some of their top doctors. Dr Shin was the doctor  in charge of Penelope sperm implant, the old man was a little too jumpy when I arrived, scared to his bones. 

The mistake was done when my delivered sperm was given another name tag, this led to its misplacement and it was sent to another patient.  Truth be told, even if I was furious I felt a great sense of relief that this mistake had destroyed any chance of Penelope having my child. If her secret gets  to my stepmother, it would have caused havoc in the royal council. Then again I only had myself to blame. 

Knowing how influential I was,  the hospital medical director tried to offer me a better solution. 

He informed me that the lady who had my child was unmarried. He also suggested  we work our way around the situation. At that moment I wasn't ready to deal with him and his team of careless personals, all I needed was to find out  who the heck had my child in her womb.

      I lied back  patiently on the black leather  chair to  await the arrival of this mysterious lady. When she entered the doctor's office she looked so  devastated  as if her life had been taken away from her.  I took time to study her appearances.  she was looking so familiar, I couldn't figure out the place we've met before. She was incredibly beautiful, so sophisticated and my own kind of woman. The scent of her perfume reminds me of violet mixed in white hibiscus, its  floral scent captivated my attention sincerely,  she knew how to make a statement. I felt irritated by the new feeling she had entrapped me in suddenly a thought flood my mind. What if she had everything all planned out. 

What if this mistake was never a mistake??!

      When she began to speak  her voice sounded a bit rusty but yet enchanting. I felt as if I was being wrapped under a spell. She began to express how worried she had been. I realized she didn't take notice that I was seated there. Till  Doctor Shin introduced me, she still paid me no attention, I was very pissed off. 

Women craved for my attention, she should be happy to be in my presence. When she finally took notice of my presence , I ended up being called a sperm donor.

Does  this woman have any idea of who I am?!  

She completely ignored me till the doctor gave us time to talk. 

She looked displeased by his suggestion but turned towards me. 

At first, I  noticed she was surprised when she finally took a close look at me.

I smirked 

Who wouldn't 

     I give her my best controlling and intimidating pose like I did the others but to my own surprise she seemed less interested . 

Well I still have time to watch out how everything plays out. 

She reminded me of someone I can't place a finger on, I felt a strong urge to protect her as she wrapped her hand around her belle. 

  "I am not giving out my baby, I have as much right to him as you do. " 

she bluntly said

I laughed because she had no idea of whom she was getting herself mixed up with, no matter how attractive she might  look right now, I wouldn't give her the power to mess with my mind.
