Seemingly thinking that the argument is getting so heated and that Lucien his dear soon-to-be son-in-law will get hurt by Charles who is already raging, Mr. Santiago scrambles to him and clamps his hands together in front of him with a pleading gaze on his face.

"Please spare the poor kid," he purrs and lowers his head. "He is only but a lad, what does he know? Please have mercy and spare him, don't deliberate on his arrogant behavior just now, please."

Normally, Lucien knows he should be angry that Mr. Santiago went ahead to beg someone that can't hurt even a hair on his head! But to his surprise, his body is reacting differently and he is far from angry.

In fact, he had always had just a little pinch of likeness for Santiago because just like the overbearing Avery, the man has been nothing but a pain in his ass. And he had been lenient with him because he is Juliet's dad. Apart from that, he would have long put the man in his place. However, he can't find it in himself to blame him a
