I was here for almost two hours, and Joshua was still not around. I was hungry and bored, so when River invited me for lunch, I didn’t hesitate and accepted it.

Instead of the usual dining room, she took me to the back of the packhouse, to a gazebo where lunch for two people was prepared.

“Wow, it’s nice here.” I meant that. You could never go wrong with nature as a view.

“I’m glad you like it. The Omegas prepared lunch in the dining room for you, but I thought you might not want to eat alone as nobody is here yet, so I just asked them to put it here so I can eat with you.”

My brows furrowed. I took a seat while my eyes followed River as she sat on her chair beside me.

“We can also eat together in the dining room,” I said nonchalantly, but I thought I picked up something from her words.

“I’m sorry. I know it’s more comfortable there, but I’m not allowed to eat there without Joshua.”
