“Clara, I heard that Dean is your boyfriend. Why isn’t he here today for an important event in your life?” Beatrix asked with a smile.

Clara faced the woman with a smile and did not correct what she said. “He’s not here now because his family has an important trip. And if you’re asking why I didn’t choose to accompany him, well, I’m not clingy like other women who seem afraid that their boyfriends will look for another woman.”

“As for you being defensive, is it bad to ask because you’re alone now?” Beatrix made her voice even sadder.

“Mind your own business, Beatrix. Don’t start to provoke my sister!” Luke’s manner was calm but emphatic.

Aldrin angrily removed the girl’s hand that was holding his arm and glared at her.

“It’s okay; I’m used to Beatrix’s sharp tongue. I remember then that I lost my job because of her.”

“Hey, that’s not true! It wasn’t my fault why—”
