Jaden's POV:

Suddenly, my life was dark and the dark clouds above couldn't understand how I felt.

We arrived at the hospital and as soon as we entered, I began to feel my brain hammering against the walls of my skull. I was barely walking, just dragging my feet all over the floor. My wet hair distracts my view, offering a foggy glance at the path I'm scraping.

"Good morning, I'm Doctor Larry. I want you all to–"

"Save it, Doctor. I want to see him. We want to see him. Now." I said, bitterly aware that I'm merely requesting to see the body from which my brother's soul departed.

After a few minutes of late goodbyes and cries, we all returned to the hospital premises, and I realized my feet could no longer carry me, so I sat on the floor.

Sorrowful thoughts pierced the insides of my mind. I wondered why it had to be Jimmy. He was the sweetest kid I've seen, the best baby brother anyone can ever hope for. Scenes of our childhood played under my eyes, I recalled the irreplaceable memories I've made with Little Jimmy.

From the sad moments to the interesting ones, I couldn't find a single memory that was flawed. He was wonderful on all levels. I don't know why this happened, but it feels so wrong to me. Why does life have to be so cruel?

Suddenly it hit me. And in a fit of rage, I stood up and felt an extra energy surge through me. "Whoever was responsible for this is going to pay so horribly," I said and proceeded outside to where the cars were packed.

Just as I drove away from the hospital, I saw another car tailing me. It seems my family decided to join my little vindictive journey.

I arrived at the station where the culprit is said to be locked. I felt my heart beat faster as I approached the entrance, but I'm certain that it was due to the excitement of avenging my brother's death one way or another. I couldn't wait to get my hands on whoever it was!

This was the same station where the Deputy Chief dwells. Andrew has long been a close friend of mine, and an ally to my family. He's about twenty years older than I am and served the family since my father's livelihood, but over the years we've grown a special connection, due to the secret businesses we've been partnering together.

And as a good friend, he personally called to inform me that his boys were the ones that arrested the culprit who hit Little Jimmy. So I went in and headed straight for his office.

But after having a conversation with Andrew, I wished I hadn't met him first. The Deputy Chief was bent on convincing me that Jimmy's killer might be innocent.

"You can't be serious," I said to the Officer.

"Listen to me Jaden, our boys spoke with a few witnesses back at the scene. It wasn't much of a big deal but what the details have in common is that someone else perpetrated your brother's death, may he rest peacefully, by pushing him towards our suspect's car."

He was staring deep into my eyes, does he want me to believe this crap?

"However," he continued, "There are no CCTV cameras anywhere near the accident scene to prove that. So these are just claims for now. The point is, I know how hard it is for you to hear this, but I need you to stay composed, and let the boys do the interrogation and conviction, please."

I owe it to Little Jimmy, I must avenge his death at all costs. But somehow, I felt that if I need to do this, I have to do it right. So I will give the officers a chance. For now.

"You make sure you get my brother the peace he deserves. Or I swear-"

"I will do my best on this, you know that Jaden."

I and the Deputy Chief met my Mother, my Sister and the family Wingman seated outside his office. He walked us towards the cell room, but just before we entered, a woman came over and introduced herself.

"Hello Sir, I'm Donna. I'm the Ex-Wife of the man who hit your Brother. I want you to know that you have every right to be angry, and there's nothing I can say to soothe your pain, but please hear me out..."

Her attempt at an explanation was cut short by a voice from the hall door, "Mom, I think I forgot the keys."

I was busy looking over the cells trying to figure out which one holds the man I'm yearning to see, but then, this voice, it was familiar. I can vaguely recall knowing this golden voice.

I got curious, so I turned around and looked. I was still dissatisfied, so I gave a closer look. And then as I glanced for a while, I saw her clearly.

The person I saw was one I never expected. My wounds are still fresh from the embarrassment she yielded on my ego and my reputation, yet here she is, standing before me, like food ready to be preyed upon by me. I could hear a voice screaming deep inside my earlobes...

You have got to be sh*tting me!

I was about to start fuming when I heard a knock on the door. Mom answered as I stood up to apply my finishing touches. The arguments and mockery taking place downstairs made it obvious who was at the door because Kathy Anderson was the one person who can't stand my Mom and vice versa. In three minutes I was downstairs, walking cheerlessly to the sitting room. I took a critical stare at Kathy and then at my Mom, giving them a bit of a questionable smug look before they both started to laugh. "Really? I know I'm not looking very elegant, but I never knew I was THIS funny." "Oh shut up Lady Sherlock." Said Mom. "What's funny is the fact that you're trying so hard to seem like you're not looking very elegant. Don't you have a mirror in the room or something?" Well, that was unexpected, I though

Chapter 2 Jaden's POV: I despise Sir Carrington! I can't believe it. He thinks he can just blackmail me into going to his little party, and it certainly wasn't just because of the investment deal, but also because of the relations he has with my family, my Mother to be exact. He called her earlier to remind me. Oh, you will pay for it soon you old fool. I instructed my staff that I'm closing early today, I was sure they were curious enough to wonder what changed my mind and prompted me into going to the party, but I can't just simply tell them why. "Yes... That's it, so everyone should get their asses back to work!" I sighed, but not for relief. It was in anticipation of the horrible evening that was to come. I was looking forward to a night in my home bar with Daniel and maybe others. Speaking of which, I should invite him to this boring party, then we can head back home for some drinks and a card game. I gave Daniel a call, fortunately, he was available so I told him the
