After helping Dr. Brynn, the pack’s doctor, at the infirmary, Ember was led by the in-house maid to her room. The master’s bedroom, Liam and her bedroom.
Tonight, was supposed to be the Marking ceremony, but Ember knew that it would never happen. Liam will never give his mark to her. With the kind of relationship that they had and his hatred towards her family, Ember prepared herself for everyday battle with that hard-headed alpha.
But that’s the least of her worries. She can always seduce Liam and make him surrender to her. She will prove to him that she’s better. So much better than Natasha.
Ember scanned the room. Her eyes landed on every detail of the room, and she was impressed.
The room was very spacious, the king-sized bed looked so comfortable, and the color of the walls was so calming. There's a luxury chandelier that hung in the middle of the room, which added to the majestic ambiance of the room. The design of the room was a combination of old and modern design. It was actually very appealing to the eyes.
It's actually in contrast to Liam’s personality. She wondered if Natasha was the one who designed this room. If she was, then she would change everything and erase her memory in this room.
Their species was quite possessive, and though the marriage Laim and she had was just part of the council’s plan, there was a tiny part of her that wanted to be possessive of Liam.
Ember halted when she saw a portrait of Liam and Natasha hung on the wall. Ember felt like she was being slapped hard on the face. Looking at their happy faces, Ember knew what kind of life she was about to face.
A knock on the door dragged Ember back to the present, and the old lady who assisted her a while ago appeared from the door. She had a stiff, unsmiling face. From a distance, Ember could smell that she was slightly different from them. A half-breed, perhaps.
“I’m Rose, I govern this house. If you need anything, you can tell me.” Rose just stood there with a stoic expression. She's in her fifties, unmarried and had been serving the Alpha’s family since she could remember.
Ember forced out a smile. “I’m good. I will just call you if ever I need something.” It’s Ember’s subtle way of dismissing her.
Rose was about to leave when Ember remembered something. “Actually,” she drawled, “I do need you to do something. I want that portrait removed from this room immediately. It's insulting, and I don’t see any reason for that to remain here. It’s inappropriate.” Ember pointed at the portrait that was mounted on the wall.
Rose was utterly shocked, and was speechless. The creature didn’t know what to do. Surely the Alpha would throw a fit if that portrait was removed from his room. But Rose couldn’t also deny that the new Luna’s domineering aura intimidated her.
Before Rose could say a protest, Liam strode inside the room with a scowl plastered on his face and he was bathed in his own blood.
Liam had clearly heard what Ember just said and it made his blood boil.
“Leave us.” He commanded, and Rose retreated with a pale face. She scuttered away immediately because she didn’t want to witness the Alpha’s wrath.
Liam was known in the whole of Bresmont for being ill-tempered and cruel. He uses harsh words and imposes strict rules, especially for half-breeds like Rose. He’s merciless, but behind all of that, he’s still in the shadow of his dominant father, the former Alpha of Bresmont.
“You insolent creature! Who gave you the right to remove that portrait of my wife?” Liam's growling voice reverberated through the walls of the room. Liam’s body was soaked in blood. From his shirt down to his hands where ropes of blood flowed from his wounded shoulder. But it seems like Liam doesn't care about pain at all. He was wounded by their search in the woods. The hunter got the chance to stab Liam on his shoulder.
Instead of cowering in fear, Ember scoffed, which made Liam grimace. She crossed her arms across her chest, which accentuated her breast, making it look bigger. Her perfectly plucked brows cocked.
Liam’s eyes dropped a little bit when he got distracted by the swell of Ember’s breast. It was just a second or two, but Ember was able to catch that. At that moment, Ember knew she had him. A simple gesture of seduction, but enough to attract the Alpha’s attention.
“Being the Luna gives me the right to decide things here. Let me remind you, Alpha, that you needed me. The council was expecting you to have an heir in less than a year from now. And you clearly know what it means if you fail to do so. I, too, have my own reason why I agreed to this union. Don’t be so full of yourself. We both know that you have been a weak Alpha since the death of my cousin. The last thing you would want to do was spite the council. You knew very well what they’re capable of doing.”
Ember stood there with her head held high. She knew to herself that she needed Liam’s cooperation if she wanted to succeed, but she was not going to permit that she'd be under his command.
Liam balled his fist. His body shook in anger as to what Ember told him. “How dare you speak to me like that. I am the Alpha of Bresmont, a direct descendant of the Great White Wolf. No one, not even you, had the right to underestimate me like that!”
“I was just shoving that truth right in front of your face. And, forget about Natasha from now on. She's dead, she’s not coming back, and she can’t help you. Basically, there’s nothing to hold on to her memory as she didn’t do good when she was the Luna. She didn’t do anything to improve the district. She's just a shadow who acts upon someone’s command.” Ember will not hold back, it’s not her attitude to sugarcoat things.
Liam saw red because of what Ember said. His heart exploded from intense anger that he couldn’t control it anymore. He let out a loud roar of anger. Natasha was dead, but she was still the Luna in his heart. Anyone who talks shit about her will suffer the consequences.
His eyes turned pitch black and he semi-shifted into his wolf form. Charcoal black fur appeared on his back and chest. His claws elongated like those of a monster.
He lunged at Ember using his lightning speed. He was so fast that Ember almost didn’t see him coming to her. Because she was caught off-guard by his sudden attack, Ember was not able to dodge his huge, clawed hands.
Long and sharp nails scrapped Ember’s flesh in her shoulders, resulting in blood gushing out from her wounds. Ember let out a low and painful growl. The impact was strong, and Ember winced in pain when she realized that Liam had actually hit her with his sharp claws.
She stumbled on the floor when Liam tried to reach for her neck. This time, Ember was fast enough to escape from him. She ran to the farthest side of the room, away from Liam.
Ember stared at Liam in total disbelief. “What the fuck?!” Blood continued to spurt out from her wound. She had not expected that attack.
There were circulating rumors about William Ashdown’s temper, but she did not expect that he was this hot-tempered.
Ember let out a growl. Her eyes turned from light brown to a glow of golden yellow. If Liam thought that she would cower just because he showed his anger, then he thought it wrong.
She bared her fangs to let Liam know that she was going to fight him, if she needed to.
Liam let out a low guttural sound as he lunged again to where Ember was standing. He tried to give her a hard blow of punches, but Ember ducked, dodging his every assault. And because Ember was way smaller than Liam’s huge frame, she was quick to kick his knee, making Liam stumble on the floor.
Liam was quick to stand to attack her again, but Ember found an old antique base and threw it at Liam. She literally threw every expensive piece of antique in the room as she kept on dodging his attacks. He growled in frustration as he could not land even a single punch to Ember.
The room was filled with sounds of animalistic growls and the smashing of things. Two strong werewolves were fighting inside, and the scene was literally bloody.
Ember noticed the chandelier just above where Liam stood. An idea popped inside her mind. With Liam’s temperament, surely, he would not think of strategies. He acted based on his emotions, not a good trait for an Alpha.
Ember jumped high to where the luxury chandelier hung. It swayed in the air as she tried to balance herself. Liam looked up to where Ember was hanging. Before he could lunge again, Ember used her sharp claws to cut the chain that supported the chandelier.
The chandelier dropped, a loud bang erupted in the room, along with the sound of glass breaking and the low growl coming from Liam. He was hit by the fallen chandelier, with Ember above it.
The door opened, and everyone witnessed how the supposed marking ceremony had turned out. It was chaotic, bloody and really messy. It was not a sight they expected to witness.
Ember gritted her teeth as she sat on one of the infirmary’s empty beds. The rest of the pack was now in their respective rooms, resting and recuperating after the attack after they took her to the infirmary since it won’t heal easily. She was the only one who was left in the infirmary together with Dr. Brynn who was treating her wounds, a wound that was inflicted by her very own cruel Alpha. Ember wanted to laugh mockingly at herself. She was embarrassed on her first night being a Luna.Ember grimaced at the thought that Liam really had hurt her. Now that she had seen his cruel side, she knew that he was a hopeless case.“This will hurt,” Brynn warned her. She was holding a bottle with a black liquid on it. Ember had no interest in asking what was inside that bottle, all she could think of was how painful her wounds are and how she hated the Alpha right now.Doctor Brynn Daniels, the pack’s doctor had been kind to treat her at this hour.Ember just nodded slowly. Pain does not scare
His eyes strained from the darkness of the forest, his lungs burned as he forced air into his lungs and the sharp claws of his feet dug deep into the muddy floors of the forest. Alpha Liam may not be the fastest in the pack but his one of the strongest Devonlaire ever had.Liam was beyond angry, he was enraged by what happened back at the mansion. It was past midnight and he should be in the comforts of his own bed right now, but here he is, running like crazy deep into the forest, seeking refuge in his sanctuary like the coward that he is.His anger was directed towards Ember who had the audacity to act like she was the queen of the pack. He already hated the fact that he has no choice but to marry her, and now she was acting like a bitch that she really is.His movements were lightning-fast as he climb up that hill. He was in his wolf form.Once there, he sniffed the air to determine whether there was another creature aside from him, and when he found no traces of any scent, Liam le
It’s been almost a week since she moved to Bresmont. She was originally living in the castle as one of the Lycan King’s elite soldiers and the strongest amongst the rest in Devonlaire. When her father said that she was chosen by the council to be wed to a grumpy, old Alpha, Ember couldn’t seem to understand why they chose her. She’s already committed to serving the King, but then when the King agreed, Ember could not say no anymore. She just has to deal with it. After all, she really has no say in anything in this realm dominated by Alphas. Ember knew she will regret it.And now she’s suffering from his icy stares and cold treatment whenever they bumped into each other. Not that she minded being ignored by the Alpha, she just can’t figure out how William Ashdown became an Alpha of the Pack. He’s a bit childish and immature for his age. For Ember, Liam is not suitable to be an Alpha. He mainly uses his emotions and not his brain and instincts.“There you are! I practically looked for y
Ember was lost for words at what she saw in front of her. Her heart pumped a little bit than it should as she scanned the young wolves lined up on a platform. She estimated their age ranges from thirteen to sixteen, so young but also very determined to learn how to combat and protect the realm. Her heart was filled with adoration for these young wolves because she was once like them. Though she really was not into fighting and self-defense before, she learned to love it since it will ensure the safety of the people of Devonlaire.“So, how do you like this place? I thought you might like it here since you are part of the King’s soldiers.” Solana crossed her arms in front of her chest as she looked at those young recruits with pride. We trained them and taught them how to be strong. Because we all know not werewolves were born with the ability to fight, some of them were omegas, but they are learning.” Solana explained.“Wow, this place is so beautiful. Where is this place? Is it outsid
Liam got out of his car the moment they arrived back at the mansion. He has a lot of questions running inside his head and it agitates him that he has no answers for them, only Ember can answer those questions. That means he has to talk to her now, not a good idea for him since he has been doing great avoiding her.“Alpha, Fulker deployed additional soldiers on the west border. Craig already brought the new recruits into the camp for the registration, he said your presence was needed there.”Javier, one of Bresmont’s elite soldiers told Liam as they made their way inside the mansion. He almost forgot about the new recruits this week. He has a lot of things on his mind right now, and the thing that occupies his mind the most was how to avoid Ember at all costs.Liam nodded in approval. “Good, I will be there in a minute. I just had to talk to the Luna for a moment.” Yes. He calls Ember luna. She doesn’t want to rise issues about treating her badly. He realized that after their fight on
Ember was confused why Liam wanted to talk to her in private. Since she arrived here Liam never showed interest in talking to her, much more in a private place like his office. She knew that his office and his room were the same. It was just separated by a wall, but have connection doors. Moreover, he always made her feel that she was not welcome in this place and that he doesn’t give a fuck as to what she was going to do.She went to shower and changed her clothes first since she was bathed in sweat after the training. Ember was debating whether what she will wear in front of Liam.“Why am I doing this?” Ember shook her head and pulled on the first shirt her hand got hold of and put it on. She never really paid much attention to her looks. She doesn’t care whether she wears the nicest dress in the crowd or not, until now.As she made her way to Liam’s office, Ember was really nervous. Her knees were like jellies. She never got nervous when she was in the field to fight, but Liam was
“Are you sure you don’t want me to go with you?”It was the third time Solana asked her that question, and for the third time, Ember just nodded and smiled at Solana.“I’m good, Sol. You don’t have to go with me, you are needed at the camp. Don’t worry too much about me, Sol. No one’s interested in taking me down, I am not someone who is special to the Alpha. I’m just a substitute Luna.” Ember tapped Sol’s shoulder as she hopped inside her car.She was summoned by her father to Devonlaire, and Ember wanted to go alone. Solana on the other hand was somehow worried about her security to which Ember just laugh. Having someone to protect her doesn’t make sense for Ember. She doesn’t need protection since she’s so capable of defending herself, she’s a member of the King’s soldiers, and that alone was enough security for Ember.Solana held the car’s door, preventing Ember from closing it. Ember looked up at Sol and smiled again. She appreciated her concern for her, and Ember is really thank
As Ember drove back to Bresmont, she had a lot of things going on inside her mind. What transpired inside her father’s study kept on rolling inside her head and a lot of questions keeps on popping out. What does her father up to? If he wants her to be marked as soon as possible, then he must be planning something. And that plan must have something to do with her. Or maybe he was using her to get to the bigger picture.Whatever her father’s plan is, Ember was sure that it was not going to be a good one.Pain clawed her heart as she remember how her father insulted her right in front of her face. All her life she was a puppet to her father, and sometimes it feels like she’s not even his daughter. Even how much she tried to convince herself that she was used to it already and that she won’t be affected anymore, there was always a part of her that yearns for a father’s love. Something that Arnulf Jacobson can’t give to her daughter.Forced Liam to mark her? Ember can’t believe what her fa
Bresmont has been very peaceful ever since Ember came back. Together with the other districts, the center of Devonlaire had also celebrated her comeback. There were no sightings of evil witches or even the remnant werewolf hunters who survived the hunt.Ember couldn’t be more happy now that she’s finally back and she finally met her daughter, Hope. Her heart was filled with joy as she watched her sleeping peacefully in her crib. She resembles her so much in the physical aspect, and she hope she will inherit Liam’s courage and determination. After all, she’s the next ruler of Bresmont, it should only be fitting that she will take from her father.Liam, on the other hand had been so clingy. He was a little bit paranoid when he wouldn’t find her in their bed in the morning and he’s always concern for her safety.“There you are! God, I was looking or you all over the mansion!” Liam exclaimed behind her.Ember couldn’t help but chuckled. She wasn’t expecting Liam to be this clingy. For a b
Asher just stood there, his body unmoving while his mind was still processing what he just saw.“I will explain later. We need to hold the gates, it’s been breached and there are more coming.” Ember uttered, she was frantic. She can feel that there were more bandits coming. But before Asher could even utter a single word, they heard a howl that made everyone stop, including Ember.Ember’s eyes widened in realization. Liam was calling her. Ember could feel his wolf calling into her soul, it was like a pull that she cannot deny.“Liam…” she whispered. And, she saw him. In the sea of crowds, she saw him in his glorious transformed body. When their eyes met, Ember knew that she’s home. She finally found her way home, or home find its way to bring her back.Tears stung her eyes and her throat hurt as she tried to swallow her cries of joy. It’s not time to rejoice but she couldn’t help it.In one swift motion, she ran toward his direction. She cared less about the bandits this time. Call he
Liam and his company were frantic. According to Ursula and Erin, Crumbush was being attacked by the bandits who wanted Ember’s head. His heart hammered inside his chest as he thought of his Luna being surrounded by those thugs. It brought him back to the war that happened a year ago, where Ember sacrificed her life just so their enemies would be defeated.A different kind of pain rushed through his entire being. He will not allow that to happen once again, not when he’s this strong and capable.Air rushed in his lungs as he lunged and avoided trees. He has never run this fast in his entire life. It’s only a matter of time, and one single second that he’s late, it will change anything. They can already see the fire up in the sky a few kilometers away from them. Liam instantly knew what it was.“It has begun,” he murmured as he halted from his tracks and stared at the black smoke that dominated the blue sky.“Alpha, we should continue now.” Liam heard Solana speak into their mind.Liam
Liam put Hope in her crib. She was fast asleep, and though he didn’t want to wake her up he couldn’t help but hold her in his arms before he left Bresmont to find Ember.Hope was a spitting image of her mother. Just by looking at Hope, his urge to find his wife got even stronger. He will do anything to find her and bring her back to their daughter.“I promise you, my little angel. I will bring Mommy back. And you will grow into a fine lady with your mother beside you. We will be whole again, Hope. I promise you that.”He caressed her chubby cheeks and planted one last kiss before he exited her room.Yesterday, Yvette suddenly showed up at their doorstep and told them that she was able to detect Ember’s power. She was able to retrieve her magic sphere from the Lycan King and now, she can locate Ember. When he asked her why she was doing this, she answered that she just wanted to help.“I just want to do something right, at least that’s what I can help for Devonlaire. The whole Devonlai
Asher heard hushed conversation when he neared the kitchen. He slowed down and tried to listen to the topic. It was about Emerald and the other night’s event. He grimaced thinking that it was not a secret anymore. More and more people every day gain knowledge of that incident, and it will not be good for them.“Do you think she’s not human?” One of the servants of the house whispered to the other.“I can’t say that. But given the fact that she killed those six burly men, it’s scary having her around the house. We can’t tell when she’ll attack.”“You’re right, Marishka told me to stay away from her.”“But we really can’t do that since we have jobs to do here in the house.”“I just wished she’ll vanish for good.”“I think she’s a werewolf. According to those who witness, those dead men have huge wounds from a claw. If that’s the case, the Chief should cast her out.”Asher balled his fist. For some reason, he hated hearing those kinds of accusations that were thrown at Emerald. He felt t
Emerald tossed and turned in her bed as blood and cries of agony erupted through the dead of the night. She sobbed while her eyes were closed. She saw it all, the death of these people who became dear to her.She had seen this scenario before. She knew this scene would end up as the worst dream of her life.“No, please….” she moaned in pain and she clasped her palm tightly into the sheets like her survival depended on it. Tears trek down her beautiful face although her eyes were closed and sweat invaded her whole body. She saw everything, Marana was struck with a huge axe on her neck causing her to die in that instant. Asher took a bullet for her and he was hit in different parts of his body. Erin, the poor child cried for help as she witnessed her mother being violated in front of her.“Don’t do this…”Emerald tried to help, but she couldn't touch a thing. This dream was so similar to the one she had a long time ago. And the worst part is, that dream came true, many died and she coul
Kreigstone is a town located outside the walls of Devonlaire. Its inhabitants were all human, and any supernatural beings were forbidden to settle down or even enter the town.People talked in hushed voices, afraid that they might be arrested for talking about the girl in the woods. It’s not a secret that some supernatural activities were happening in their town.Their politicians were furious, the people scared and the outlaws were enraged. At least six people from the other side of the law were killed in that single night, and they were screaming for retaliation.Gasper, one of the outlaws, was drinking his liquor in a torn bar in the most isolated part of the town. He heard people talk and he’s picking up any information that their boss might need.Who was that woman in the woods? His grip on the bottle of beer resting in his hands tightened. He was enraged. One of the victims was his older brother, and he was desperately in need of blood. Red, cold, dirty blood in his hands. And h
The cold water from the shower cascaded Asher’s naked body. He lost count of how long he’s been inside the bathroom. His thoughts flew out of the house and back to what happened in the forest part last night. He closed his eyes and immediately flashes of the scene came to his memory.Gruesome. The smell of metal flew in the air and the stench of death made it even worse.A total of six dead bodies of huge men were scattered everywhere, some were on the ground and others were hung on the tree. Their blood pooled on the forest floor, fertilizing the earth. They arrived at the scene late. Everything happened so fast that when they got there, they didn’t witness how those men died. But based on Marana’s opinion, they all die from blood loss due to the huge wounds they incurred. A wound that only a monster was capable of inflicting. Was it Emerald? He can hardly tell it since he didn’t see the whole thing. The cold water sipped through his body and his bones shivered from the cold.Cursing
It’s the carnival night and Emerald couldn’t get any excited to go there.A huge smile appeared on her beautiful face as she examined how she looked in the mirror.Marana gave her a dress to wear there. It’s a pretty dress with a simple design. It fitted nicely in her body and he smile widened. She can’t wait to go in the carnival. She believed she hasn’t been on one.Marana and her family had been so good to her. Despite the fact that she’s a stranger and they didn’t know where she came from, they still welcome her and treated her like family. She swirl in front of the mirror and her smile widened.“I’m ready.” She left her room and went to find Marana and the rest of the people who wanted to see the carnivval too.Carnival nigths happens every once a month. They travel from town to town. She’s excited to see what’s in there. She has not regain her memory yet and there were a lot of things that confused her, but she’s not giving up.Emerald believed that one day, she will be able to
