Aurora's pov:
"Aurora! Where are you?!" I was startled when I heard the voice of Amelia. But then, I wash my hands immediately because I'm full of stains from the pots that I'm cleaning. I heard the door open with a sign of her entering the house. "I'm over here!" I shouted because I am at the ground floor where I usually cleanse all the pots in the house. I dried my hands using my apron and didn't mind my messy hair, blocking the side of my face. "Oh my god, Aurora! Why do you look so messy?!" she stated in disbelief and her eyes in worry. I look away and get my hair tie, to tie my hair in a high ponytail. “What are you doing here?” I ask as I continue to tie my hair. She didn't look at me, instead she wandered her eyes to where we are right now. “This place is a mess, why are you cleaning here? Why not upstairs?” she asked. I ignore her question and repeat my question to her instead. “What are you doing here?” She looks at me from head to toe and shakes her head after she notices how messed up I am. “The selection of the Alpha’s slave is today. We need to go there before it starts.” “Why should I go there? It's nothing special.” I mumbled and was about to get the pot that wasn't yet cleaned but Amelia stopped my hand. “We need to be there, because the Alpha is selective, he can't just select someone who is out of his standard.” -Wow! The alpha even has a standard on selecting a slave?!- I stated in my mind. “Why is he selecting another slave again?” I ask confusedly. Amelia frowned at my question. “I also don't know, that's why we need to be there.” yeah, she is right we should go there to know what's going on and why is he selecting a slave again, it's not that we or I can be chosen as his slave right? What happened to his slaves back then? Is he a manwhore? I shook my head. “Okay, wait for me upstairs, I'll just get change.” She nodded and walked fast by me. I started to put away the pots that are not clean yet. And separate those already clean. I remove my apron, and go upstairs to take a quick bath. I shouldn't look like a mess outside this house unless things are urgent. After taking a bath, I pick a dress with a vest on it. I also brush my hair and wear a hairband. I let my hair down and let it show my flowy lightly curled hair. “Amelia, I'm done.” I said as I left my room. She was in the living room sitting on the sofa while reading a magazine. She looks and her eyes sparkle from amusement of what she sees. “You're beautiful as always when you're dressed up” she said while staring at me with adoration in her eyes. I shook my head and pulled her up from the sofa. “Let's go, time's running.” She's still looking at me. Which is why I poke her forehead. She winch from the little pain it gave her. We then walk out of the house and immediately go to the outdoor stadium where the selection will happen. It is not the usual outdoor stadium you think, but the simple and ordinary one. Where every activity of a specific clan was held. When we got there, a lot of people were waiting for the selection. But mostly women, they even dress up nicely. Maybe they wanted to be chosen. But as for me, I didn't dress up nicely to be chosen by the alpha. I'm just a typical woman who dresses simply when going out of the house. I wanted to look good in everyone's eyes in a simple way. After waiting for 15 mins the arrival of the Alpha made every woman and even girls in teenage screams out of their lungs. I look at where the Alpha is. He looks good and intimidating yet his eyes tell silently to not mess with him in any way. I can sense his strong aura. His calm breath and the beats of his heart. I could sense it clearly, which made me stare at him blankly. I was back when Amelia pinch me, that's when I also realized that the Alpha is also staring at me intently. “The Alpha just looks at you earlier, Rory.” Amelia whispered. She sometimes calls me Rory or Aurora, it depends on her mood I guess. “No, it wasn't me, it's the woman at my back.” I lied even though I knew that Amelia noticed him looking at me. “It wasn't her, it's you, I can tell it right away.” she insisted. I didn't mind her and just diverted my gaze to the crowds. The stadium will be full of people any minute. Everyone is whispering yet you can hear them talking about the Alpha. They went silent when the mic turned on. “A pleasant afternoon to each and everyone. Before we start the selection of the Alpha's slaves. We have here the list of each woman who is qualified to the Alpha's standard.” Their whispers are echoing because of what they have heard from the announcer. “I thought there was no list on this selection.” I heard from one of the crowd's disappointment. Some are feeling down because of the thought that they might not be one of the qualifiers. I know that they like to be the alpha’s slave. But he is the alpha who has a standard to be lifted. While some are happy because of the thought that they don't want to be the Alpha's slave since there are rumors circulating that the reason why the Alpha keeps changing a slave is because of its anger issue. At which he appears to hurt those who were his slaves back then. “Keep quiet everyone! Now we will start the selection and the Alpha will pick the name that is on the list. And if you heard your name called, kindly come up here on stage to meet your master, the Alpha.” the announcer quickly stated, he then handed the list to the Alpha. I look at how the Alpha scans the paper with each name of a woman. He called someone and whispered something in his ear. The man looks at me, which makes me frown. He then whispers back to the Alpha. I didn't mind how the man beside the Alpha looked at me. Instead I ask Amelia to go back home. “Let's go Amelia.” I said in boredom “What? The Alpha has not yet selected a slave.” she confusedly asked. “It's too boring, and I am hungry.” “You can eat later after this, let's just witness the selection.” she said and held my wrist to stop me from walking away. “I’m too hungry, I can't hold it any longer.” “Please, rory-” Amelia was cut while pleading with me not to leave. The mic turned on again. “Aurora Solane Harrison” Amelia’s eyes grew in shock when she heard my name called. “Aurora Solane Harrison” the announcer repeated which made me stuck from where I am sitting right now. Why? I said in my mind, still not digesting what I just heard from the announcer. “Where is Aurora?” the announcer ask. Amelia shook my shoulders which led me to stand up. The crowd looked at me, I felt nervous, I wanted to hide from Amelia's back or even run away from this crowd. But I am too scared to do that. I look at the stage where the Alpha is sitting. He is looking at me without any trace of emotion in his face. I look back at him and hide my fears. I didn't let anyone notice how terrified I was. I bravely walk towards the stage, with head up and face showing no emotion. I stopped when Amelia held my wrist. She looks at me with worries in her eyes. But I just nodded at her as a sign that I can do this. When I reach the stage, the announcer tells the crowd that the Alpha now has a new slave. The alpha walked towards me, he then matched my height and moved his face. I didn't move or flinch when he did that. The crowd mostly gaps from what they witness. They thought the Alpha was going to kiss me. But no, he whispered in my ears. “You're now my slave and you can't do anything about it.” He whispered in a monotonous voice.I was given a day to pack my things up before going to the Alpha's mansion. The Alpha has its own house, where he and his slaves stay.Amelia is here helping me pack my things. She's not even muttering a word, she's just silent and helping me finish packing. “Do you want to eat something?” I look at her when she finally talks to me. I smile, “ I want mashed potatoes and fried chicken.” she just nodded and headed straight to the kitchen. I wonder what will happen after I leave this house. My parents are not staying here, they are in the province for good. And I did tell them about me being the chosen slave. They got worried and dad was even about to come here today. But I assure them that I will be fine. When I finish everything that I need to bring. I went to the kitchen and saw Amelia cooking what I wanted to eat. I smiled from that thought, this is our last bonding together. This should be memorable and yes it is now memorable. Because she's cooking something for me. I like her
I was left dumbfounded as what the Alpha just whispered to me. I never thought this first night would be like this. I started preparing my dinner since he doesn't want to eat dinner tonight. He just let me cook for myself and go to his room. He just reminded me there after I’m done eating. I felt uneasy because I don't know what will happen inside his room after I enter. I said in my mind. I wash all the dishes I used and prepare myself because maybe he will give me a task or something tonight. I need to be ready. I go to my room and clean myself. After that I slowly walked towards his room. I knocked twice but I didn't hear any response from him. I hold onto the door knob and slowly twitch it to and it's not locked. I open the door and enter without his approval. “Alpha?” I called him, to make sure if he wasn't really here in his room. When I slowly walk towards his bed. I heard the sound of the water in the car. oh, maybe he is showering. I should just stay outside.I was abou
I woke up because of a noise coming from outside the room. It was like children playing near the door and I also heard their soft giggles. I got up and felt the pain of my womanhood.shoot! It sting a lot! If only I knew that it would hurt this much! I shook my head and rested a little before I'll stand and go to the restroom. I didn't think this would hurt so bad, after! It was only then that I noticed that I was already dressed, and I was even wearing Jax's t-shirt that looked like a duster to me. and why the h*ll did I just call him?! Jax?! when?!I frown on my own thoughts and get up from the bed. I still feel the stingy pain even when I will just move a little. I didn't mind it, I immediately turned on the faucet and filled the tub with water. I put some powder that is for the body, so that the tub will be filled with some bubbles. After that, I soaked my whole body in the bathtub and closed my eyes because of the relief it gave me. After minutes of soaking my body from the w
While I'm here inside my room. Someone knocked on the door. I stood up and immediately opened it. Jax is standing there carrying a tray with a lot of food. My eyes went big because of the different kinds of food he put in the tray. It's like these foods are for a week already. He gets inside and places it on the table beside the bed. “This is a lot, it's not that I will not get out here for a whole week.” I said unbelievably. “You need to eat a lot, Aurora. I need you to be stronger beside me.” he said with a serious look on his face. He seems to be conveying something I didn't know. What a bossy alpha I got.“Here” He gets the bite size of something that looks like chocolate and places it in front of my mouth. I hesitated at first but he won't remove it not until I open my mouth. “This tastes good, mom made it, this is called brownies.” I eat it and munch until I finish it. “Yeah, it tastes good.” I said and got another one myself. He nodded and reminded me again to eat everyt
The scent of roasted garlic and rosemary filled the air, mingling with the sweet aroma of the apple pie cooling on the counter. I had spent the afternoon preparing a feast fit for a king, or at least, for my alpha. He was due back any minute, and I couldn't help but feel a flutter of anticipation in my chest. The incident with the peanuts had been a wake-up call. It wasn't just about the nuts, it was about the vulnerability they exposed. The alpha, ever vigilant, had taken it upon himself to ensure our safety, even if it meant being a bit overprotective. I couldn't blame him. We were a pack, and his responsibility extended to every member, young and old. The thought of the young ones, their innocent eyes filled with fear after the intrusion, tugged at my heart. It was a stark reminder of the fragility of our world. The humans, with their insatiable curiosity and thirst for power, had crossed a line, and the consequences were dire. I glanced at the clock, the hands ticking away with
The crimson sun dipped below the horizon, casting long, ominous shadows across the cobblestone streets of Dawnsville. A chill wind whipped through the town, carrying with it the scent of woodsmoke and fear. The air hung heavy with anticipation, a palpable tension that prickled the skin and tightened the chest.Jaxon, the alpha of Dawnsville, stood atop the watchtower, his gaze sweeping across the town below. His senses were on high alert, every fiber of his being tuned to the slightest tremor in the air, the faintest whisper of danger. The recent intrusion, the audacious attack on their territory, had left a scar on the pack, a reminder of their vulnerability. He had vowed to protect his people, to ensure their safety at all costs. The town was quiet, eerily so. The usual bustle of evening life, the laughter of children playing, the rhythmic clang of the blacksmith's hammer, had been replaced by an oppressive silence. Even the wolves, normally boisterous and playful, were subdue
The news of the attack reached Aurora like a cold wave, washing over her with a chilling dread. The whispers of the townsfolk, the hushed tones, the worried faces, all painted a grim picture of what had transpired in Dawnsville. Jaxon, her alpha, her mate, had been injured. The thought of him, wounded and vulnerable, sent a shiver down her spine, a pang of fear that tightened her chest. She had been in the kitchen, preparing a simple meal, her mind lost in thoughts of the alpha, when the news arrived. A young wolf, his face pale and drawn, stumbled into the house, his words tumbling out in a torrent of anxiety."Aurora, you need to come to the clinic. Jaxon… he's been hurt."The world seemed to tilt on its axis, the familiar sounds of the house fading into a distant hum. She felt a surge of panic, a primal instinct to protect her mate, to be by his side. She grabbed her cloak, her hands trembling, her heart pounding in her chest."Tell me what happened," she urged, her voice st
The morning sun, a pale sliver peeking over the horizon, cast long shadows across the training grounds. The air was crisp, carrying the scent of pine needles and damp earth, a stark contrast to the heavy silence that had settled over Dawnsville after the attack. But the silence was a deceptive calm, a prelude to the storm of activity about to unfold.Jaxon, still bearing the mark of the recent battle, stood at the edge of the training grounds, his gaze sweeping across the assembled pack. His wound, though healing, still throbbed with a dull ache, a constant reminder of the vulnerability he had experienced. He had been lucky, he knew, but the experience had shaken him, forcing him to confront his own mortality, the fragility of his position as alpha. He had called this meeting, this training session, not just to hone their skills, but to instill a sense of urgency, a renewed commitment to their safety and security. “Where are you going, Alpha?” Aurora asked worriedly, confusion evident in my eyes.“I need to find answers… I need to know what’s behind Amelia’s attack.”His eagerness to understand what happened to Amelia was palpable; Jaxon was truly acting like an Alpha.“Can I come with you?” she asked, equally determined to find the truth.“No, Aurora, it’s not safe for you.”“But it’s not safe for me to be alone here. You know what I mean,” she utter, the events at the clinic flashing through my mind—the unsettling encounter with the familiar stranger, their strange words. Jaxon’s eyes softened, his fingers gently caressing my cheek. “Don’t worry, I’ll have some pack members stay with you.”“But—”“No buts, Aurora. This is for your best friend, and for you, too.” I nodded, allowing him to go.Before he could leave, however, his mother’s voice stopped him. “Where are you going, son?” she asked, standing with another person. A woman paired with beautiful blue eyes and a seductive but bright smi
After two days of Amelia remaining unconscious at the clinic, I sit here staring blankly, plagued by the thought that she might have been kidnapped and tortured by insurgents. “But why would they do that?” I whisper, the question hanging unanswered in the silent room. My mind races, conjuring images I desperately try to push away. Was it a random act of violence? Or was she targeted? Did she stumble onto something she shouldn't have? The uncertainty is a gnawing beast in my gut. Unease gnawed at me, so I decided to visit Amelia at the clinic. But first, I needed Jaxon's permission before leaving the mansion. I approached him hesitantly, finding him engrossed in a mountain of papers at his desk. "Hey, are you busy?" I asked shyly. He looked up slowly, setting down a document. Even in that serious state, he was strikingly handsome. The thought brought an involuntary smile to my lips. He muttered, a hint of amusement in his serious tone, "Not terribly. And what's with that s
"Kael, who found Amelia at the lighthouse?" Jaxon's voice was sharp, cutting through the usual banter that filled their training grounds. He'd arrived, his usual easy gait replaced by a grim determination. Kael shifted uneasily, his gaze flitting around the familiar training area. "It was Jade. We were searching the area systematically, you know, covering every inch. Then Jade shouted, saying he saw someone lying unconscious. We ran over, and… it was Amelia. I recognized her immediately. I told the others to look for clues, to see what happened, while some of us called for backup to get her to the clinic. We searched, but… we found nothing. Absolutely nothing. So, I ran to your house to tell you, but you were with your parents. Aurora was there, so I brought her with me." He paused, his voice dropping to a near whisper. "It was… unsettling, Alpha. Very unsettling." Jaxon's eyes narrowed. He felt a prickle of unease, a nagging sense that something wasn't right. Kael's acc
Aurora's pov: The sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in angry shades of red and purple, a fitting backdrop to the dread that coiled in my gut. Amelia’s absence hung heavy, a suffocating presence in the otherwise peaceful evening. It wasn't just her absence, it was the unsettling way she’d vanished poof, gone, like a wisp of smoke. And that creepy feeling… like someone was watching, a prickling sensation at the back of my neck that wouldn't go away. I swirled the ice in my glass clinking a brittle counterpoint to the frantic rhythm of my heart. I'd grilled everyone at the party, but their denials felt hollow, like carefully constructed lies. The memory of that shadow, flitting through the dimly lit corners, the unsettling flicker of eyes… it wasn't just my imagination. BAM! A harsh knock on the door jolted me. My breath hitched. It wasn't a polite tap; this was urgent, demanding. "Jaxon! Jaxon, open up!" Jared's voice, usually easygoing, was strained, laced wi
3rd Person pov: The music swelled, a vibrant pulse that throbbed through the town hall and spilled out into the night. Fairy lights, strung haphazardly between ancient oak trees, cast a whimsical glow on the assembled crowd. It was a party, undeniably strange, yet every single soul in Dawnsville was present, a testament to the town's peculiar cohesion. The reason for the gathering remained a mystery, a shared enigma that hung heavy in the air, a silent question echoing in the laughter and chatter. Aurora, clinging to Jaxon's arm, navigated the throng. She felt the weight of countless eyes, a palpable sense of scrutiny that pricked her skin despite her best efforts to ignore it. Whispers, fragments of conversations carried on the wind, brushed against her ears, hinting at speculation, gossip, and perhaps something more. "They're still looking," she murmured, her voice barely audible above the music's insistent rhythm. Jaxon squeezed her hand, his touch a silent reassurance. "Ignore
The morning is quite gloomy, but my thoughts are still reeling from last night. Confusion swirls in my mind like a ticking bomb. However, I refuse to dwell on it, Jaxon seems fine, at least outwardly. He acts as if our conversation never happened, which I find unsettling. I lack the courage to ask him directly. I need to respect our boundaries, even though we're close. I must remember he's the Alpha, the ruler of this town.He sits at the table, flipping through the newspaper. I pour him tea, remaining silent. I should act as if last night was insignificant.I sit beside him, about to eat, when he speaks. “The council will have a party later,” he says, eyes still on the newspaper. He lifts his teacup and sips, a faint smile playing on his lips.I frown, confused. He mentioned the council last night, but what about the party? Why are they holding one? Is it related to the attack two weeks ago? The timing feels...odd.“Why are they holding a party?” I ask, my confusion evident. “Is i
The weight of Amelia's revelation pressed down on me like a physical burden. Sleep had become a distant memory, replaced by a constant churning of thoughts and anxieties. Even the simple act of preparing Jax's meals, a task I usually performed with meticulous care, felt clumsy and haphazard. The Alpha sensed my disquiet, his usually sharp gaze softening with concern. But he held back, respecting my need for space, for time to process the storm raging within me."You seem troubled," he said one evening, his voice a low rumble that vibrated through the room as he sat across from me at dinner.I forced a smile, hoping to mask the turmoil within. "Just a bit tired, that's all."He studied me, his eyes piercing through my facade. "You haven't slept well, have you?"I shook my head, unable to meet his gaze. "It's nothing, really. Just a few restless nights."He sighed, his expression softening. "If you're troubled, you can tell me. You know I'm always here for you."His words were a balm to
The crisp autumn air nipped at Aurora's cheeks as she walked towards the familiar clearing, a haven of peace nestled amidst the towering pines. It had been a month since she had last seen Amelia, her closest confidante, her sister in all but blood. The recent attack, the aftermath of Jaxon's injury, the constant worry that gnawed at her, had kept her tethered to Dawnsville, unable to venture out. But today, she yearned for the comfort of Amelia's presence, the solace of their shared secrets, the warmth of their unspoken understanding. As she reached the clearing, she saw Amelia sitting on a moss-covered boulder, her back against a towering pine, her gaze fixed on the distant horizon. Her hair, a cascade of auburn curls, was caught by the wind, framing a face that was both beautiful and strong, a reflection of the woman she had become. "Amelia," Aurora called out, her voice a soft whisper carried by the wind. Amelia turned, her eyes widening in surprise, a smile blooming on her fa
