Author’s POV“That's absolute rubbish!” Dr. Berneji fired at no one in particular. In the conference room, he was seated with his Dr. Jenkins, they discussed at length, as they made reference to the magazines in their hands. They both seemed worried like the inevitable had finally befell them. "I totally agree with you.” Dr. Jenkins sighed. "It would only take a dumb person, or probably a bitter soul to sign such a thing into action and expect his subordinates to follow suit like zombies.” He finished, finally catching his breath. “And we are no zombies!” Dr Berneji agreed with Dr. Jenkins. The door opened to see Dr. Liam, and oddly, he didn't seem like he was in a bad state. He joined the conference meeting, taking a seat at the extreme, away from them in a subtle way. It wasn't so obvious that he desperately wanted to be out of there as soon as possible. “Welcome, Dr. Liam.” Dr. Jenkins waved in his usual fashion. “Hello.” Dr. Liam responded with a fake smile to butter it. He
Jasmine's POV“You’ll be fine, Jas,” I whispered to myself, fighting tears from rolling down my cheeks freely. I grabbed a handful of the fabric of my lab coat and sniffed it. I missed saving lives and finding fun in just performing an operation or having a counseling session with a client... There was Mrs. Bianca, one of my best and most loyal clients. Even after the fall of the miracle doctor, she still placed her life in my hands, hoping for a miracle, and I almost messed it up for her, how careless of me. I couldn't help but wonder how she was fairing, was she okay? After surviving that almost fatal surgery, what did she think of me? “Jasmine... Please, stop.” I snuffled and wiped my tears with the back of my palm. "It isn't over yet, you will be fine,” I whispered courageously. The era of being a miracle doctor was over after all. But then, I didn't care about the fame, I just wanted my job, and the peace like in the good old days. But I guess it was me asking for too much.
Liam's POV“I think I should take your word for it.” I sighed as I slouched on the couch in my bedroom. I got home not quite long ago, and I was still not in a good state. It wasn't just that I got my request declined, even though that is a good reason to sulk, but in my case, it was how Brady demeaned me like I was job hunting or some beggar at his freaking mercy. "What words?” Rylee dropped whatever she was doing and came to sit on the edge of the bed that was close enough to where I was lying. Her concern and interest in everything that had to do with me always turned me on, like she was so freaking devoted to a fault. It wasn't just about her loving everything premium, which included gist, of course, but you could tell she genuinely cared from the depth of her heart. I prepped up on an elbow, so I could at least talk to her like I acknowledged her presence and concern. It was the least I could do, respectfully let her in. “I wanted a leave of absence for just two days and he
Author’s POV "Hello, Mr. Brady, may we please have a moment of your attention?” Dr. Brady took the lead. He was in the company of Dr. Jenkins and they were both in Mr. Brady's office. The atmosphere was thick with suspense as they all looked serious. "Hello, Dr. Berneji and Jenkins.” Brady looked away from his desktop for just a moment and then looked back to his desktop. “We won't take forever.” Dr. Berneji chipped in as though he was trying to persuade Mr. Brady to give them an audience. “Like right?” Brady's eyes were still on his monitor. "Yeah, we're sorry for the inconvenience this impromptu meeting might cause you, but we would be out of your hair before you know it.” Dr. Berneji spoke up once more. Beside Dr. Berneji, Dr. Jenkins restlessly shifted on his feet one at a time. He was surely running out of patience. It was partly because of his short temper that Dr. Berneji took the lead and coupled with the fact that Dr. Berneji was a rank ahead of him and he was also the
Author's POV “Wait... What?” Brady scoffed. He was in shock about what Dr. Berneji and Dr. Jenkins just spewed. For a split second, he went numb and just stared at them, from Dr. Berneji to Dr. Jenkins and back to Dr. Berneji. With that, the vicious cycle continued.Dr. Berneji and Dr. Jenkins simply remained seated in silence, they had dropped the grenade and it was expected to cause an effect, that may be disastrous enough to bring the whole place down in a matter of seconds, without a chance to rectify your mistake. “Is this some sort of prank?” He was still in disbelief. "Are you guys kidding me right now?” He demanded an immediate response. Till this moment, he was yet to reconcile what he just heard to his reality. "Sadly, you heard just right." Dr. Jenkins was quick to spill. He was itching to get the hell out of Mr. Brady's office, but he knew that would be one of the most wrong decision he would make probably since he started his career in the field of his dream, as it wo
Chapter 82: A Family Like No Other, Finding Love In The Oddest Place. Rylee's POV“You needed to see his face,” Liam made a mockery of Brady. "He was like a big baby.” He began to laugh loudly for the umpteenth time since his narration. When he returned home yesterday with the news that Brady granted him a one day leave because of what his colleagues did, he never stopped making a mockery of Brady and serving his colleagues the very much deserving accolades. Right now, I've heard the story about a million and one times, just in a different tone and face jest. Liam was a handful. How did it take me so long to realize my boyfriend was just as troublesome as the word spelled boldly? Even though I tried not to laugh, I found myself laughing so hard that my ribs almost cracked. He had me on his team effortlessly making fun of his boss and the fun part is that we never felt guilty, not for once, even though Brady was brutally bruised. I could only imagine how his chubby cheeks and ego w
Sebastian’s POV Finally, Jasmine was already in my grasp and definitely, very soon, she would be at my mercy. I sneered. There were a thousand and one ways to slay your enemies, and I believe that right now. I didn't have to get the lady I was so obsessed about in the local way of winning her over but using an indirect means to get what I so much desired. Who would have thought that with the way Jasmine was so stubborn like a bee protecting her precious hive, she would be caught up in my web? And it was even much fun when she was still ignorant. I enjoyed watching her dance recklessly in my web, unaware that she got trapped the more. “yeah, I love this,” I smirked, watching them feature in my exclusive show. On my screen, Asher and Jasmine paraded in front of my gate. Through my CCTV, I got every single detail, including my driver who was interrogating him. The doorbell rang, very much expected. And of course, I knew it was my driver. He was here to alert me of their arrival. I wa
JASMINE POV‘there was no place in the universe that felt like home.’ More than ever, I resonated with every one of the words like it was said because of this day. It was indeed true, there was not one place in the world that I would wish to be right now, if not home. The clean atmosphere, natural spices, and herbs... Lots of blissful things to look forward to. I leaned forward and then laid on the wound-up glass, as I watched the moving trees and houses and other pretty things go away as we got closer to home, every precious second we rode in silence. Effortlessly, I drifted to wonderland, and unlike a normal person, I didn't make any effort to be in my reality... not when the reality I saw was home. I loved it here, and I couldn't wait to finally live it through. “How are you feeling, babe?” I asked Asher genuinely. My voice was like a whisper, quite aware we had company... One we hated with so much passion. "Fine, I guess.” He replied to me almost immediately, and his smile ca
