CHAPTER 4

FOR THE PACK

Alpha Kane's heart was throbbing in pain. Breaking up with the love of his life was the most difficult thing that he had ever endured after the death of his parents. 

Alpha Kane ran away at a supersonic speed as he went down the hill and his feet started turning to form brown claws and thick fluffy pitch black hair. 

He groaned in pain as the final transition took place and he fully became a wolf. 

He continued running into the rainforest where he hunted several hare's and killed them. 

He killed the hares to contain himself from yearning for blood. Whenever he was angry, he wanted blood so badly. He however had to divert his appetite for blood or else he might kill someone. He knows how painful it is to lose a person hence he knows that killing a person is not right. He wishes that his parents were here to date but witch Jezebel is the reason that they are not here for she forcefully took their lives. 

The thought of the magnitude of pain which witch Jezebel caused him made his wolf run around in furry. It made him jump up and down as he growled and howled in anger. His eyes turned bloody red as he rolled in the grass. 

He however had to turn because at this point he was going to kill a person. He could hear the scent of several of them on the other side of the river. 

Alpha Kane growled in pain as he turned back to human form. He figured that he needed to handle his emotions well. The last thing that he wanted was to make things worse than what they were already. 

His heart was still bleeding. He loved Ava so much that letting her go made him sob like a little boy yet he was the Alpha of Midnight pack. What has he become? Beta Ian was right. Being with Ava will make him weak and the people of Midnight pack will start disrespecting him. Come to think of it, he can always reunite with her after their revenge on the witch, Jezebel. 

He is not rejecting her for good, he is just rejecting her for sometime until they find justice for what happened to their parents. 

Alpha Kane knew that Ava rose loved him.He hoped that she would be patient enough to wait for him to do all it takes for the pack. When all this is over, he hopes that she will understand where he is coming from and allow him back into her arms. 

Ava loves him, that is a fact but at this point, love is not enough. The pack needs him and he has to be there for the pack. He cannot give up what happened to their parents and their werewolf powers for the sake of love. Love can wait. Actually, true love waits. 

Alpha Kane had decided to choose Cynthia Rose as his Luna. Cynthia was a great warrior and with her by his side, the pack will get the victory against witch Jezebel. 

Cynthia Rose is Ava's sister. Alpha Kane knows that sisters are normally close and hence he knows that when Ava finds out that he is choosing Cynthia as his lover then she will be less angry. Sisters want the best for each other and he hopes that Ava will do the same.  

Anyway, it was not going to be for long. After the revenge, he would come back to fix their relationship and eventually, they would get married. 

But first, she has to handle the rejection. She has to understand that she is sacrificing her love for the pack, just like Alpha Kane has done. 

As Alpha Kane was running back to the pack house, he heard her constantly calling him as she cried but he totally ignored her. She will get better soon. That is what Alpha Kane kept telling himself as he approached the pack house. 

"Where have you been? I have been looking all over for you!" Beta Ian told him immediately he saw him. 

"I am not answerable to anyone Beta Ian. So stop parading me like a kid!" Alpha Kane ordered. 

"I am sorry Alpha. It is just that a scout has said that Witch Jezebel is coming sooner than we thought. You need to do something. " Beta Ian told Alpha Kane. 

"I know. I have already decided to marry a warrior who will be the Luna of the pack. " Alpha Kane told him. He felt so confident with his decision to give up love for the sake of the pack. He knows that his sacrifice will pay off eventually. 

"I suggest that you should take warrior Mirriam Canute as the Luna of our pack. She is a great fighter. " Beta Ian suggested. 

"No, I am going for Cynthia Rose. She is a great fighter. I have seen her fight so many times and she comes out of the fighting ring as a winner," Alpha Kane said with so much finality and Beta Ian jaw dropped. 

Cynthia Rose was Beta Ian's ex-girlfriend and he had not expected Alpha Kane to choose her as the Luna of Midnight pack. Cynthia had been chasing after him but he did not like her. Cynthia wanted a committed relationship but he was just playing with her. Beta Ian always loved her sister Ava Rose. Ava Rose was the most beautiful girl in the pack. She knew how to do her makeup right plus she knew how to dress up attractively. 

However, despite her not dating anyone, she constantly rejected him. He has tried to date her for over three years but she has always rejected him. 

"No, you have to choose Mirriam," Beta Ian insisted. 

"No, I am the Alpha of this pack and my decision is final. I want you to tell the chef's to prepare me a nice dinner. After that, I want you to go and tell Cynthia that I want her to join me for dinner. " Alpha Kane ordered and even though Beta Ian hated the idea, it had to be done because it was an order. 

Beta Ian did not want Cynthia to be with Alpha Kane not because he loved her but because he would be taking orders from her. 

Thanks to the heartbreak that he made her go through, he knows that Cynthia would use this position to get back at him for the pain that he caused her. He had told her consistently that she is not beautiful but that notion will change because the Alpha wants her as Luna.

 This honor to be Luna and the first lady of Midnight pack will make her remember that she is beautiful because so many young girls in the pack will look up to her. They will admire her as their Luna. They will want to associate themselves with her. 

"What are you still waiting for? Go now! We don't have time to waste!" Alpha Kane shouted and Beta Ian made his way to the kitchen. 

"Maids!" Alpha Kane yelled when Beta Ian had just left. 

"Yes your highness," The three maids were at his service. 

"Prepare a bath for me. Also, prepare my suit and lastly serve me scotch on the rocks," Alpha Kane got ready for the dinner that he was arranging so that he could get to know Cynthia more. 

He needed some drink to calm his mind and to distract him from thinking about his one and only, Ava Rose. 

Despite all this, Ava will always be the woman who owns his heart. He still loves her, it is just that he has to sacrifice his love for now for the sake of the pack. 

Anyway, he looked forward to his date with Cynthia Rose tonight. He had never interacted with her on a personal level and this makes him hope that she is a sweet nice lady just like her sister. 

"Your bath is ready," The maid came back to report. 

"I will be there shortly," Alpha Kane promised.

Ava Rose cried all the tears in the world but the fact remained that she had been rejected. 

Her heart could not allow her to let Alpha Kane go despite how he hurt her feelings. 

She realised that she still wanted him hence she decided to work on that. She was going to meet him for one last time to confirm if this is truly what he wanted. 

She was tired because of crying but she pulled her ounces of energy together and ran all the way back to the pack residence where their house was. Once she was in her room, she went to have a shower and wore a black strapless dress that attenuated her figure. 

Her sister walked in just before she could do her makeup and she was pissed at her. Why does she always have to show up?

"Your eyes are swollen. What happened to you? Are you okay?" Cynthia asked her but she ignored her. She was not going to open up to her and she hoped that Cynthia would come to understand that they are not friends. She doesn't like her and neither does she want to involve her in her business. 

"Maybe you should go and chase after that stupid boyfriend of yours. I have a date tonight with the Alpha," Ava Rose told her as she eyed her up and down. 

"The Alpha?" Cynthia arched her eyebrows up in confusion. 

"Yes. Alpha Kane. Alpha Kane is my boyfriend," Ava Rose finally let the secret out of her chest. 

" I wish you well on the date. Although…" Cynthia paused before she walked out of the room. 

Ava was bothered but not for too long. She shook her head and applied a layer of eyeliner on her under eye. This is going to be a special night and she did not want Cynthia's bad energy to ruin it for her. 

She must win Alpha Kane back with her beauty and her little plan. 

Cynthia was going back to her room after that bad moment with her sister when their doorbell rang. She was about to ignore it when it rang again. 

She reached to get the door and she was shocked to see Beta Ian. What the heck is he doing here? Does he want them to solve their relationship situation? She could not fathom. 

"Hi," Beta Ian greeted her. 

"Hey," Cynthia said shyly. 

"Can we talk?" Beta requested and Cynthia smiled from ear to ear. His apology is what she had always wanted for the longest time. 

She wanted him to be sorry for hurting her in the past. 

"Of course," Cynthia said. 

"I want you to prepare yourself for dinner. Dress well. This is going to be a good one," Beta Ian promised and Cynthia's heart was melting with joy. 

Despite Ava's coldness, she has a reason to be happy again. 

She is definitely going to dress up. She is going to make Beta Ian feel awful for failing to make things official with her yet she can make a good leader, working closely with the Luna of their pack. 

Cynthia knew that her sister was lying when she said that she is going for a date with Alpha Kane. Alpha Kane is a powerful Alpha. He dated the most beautiful girl in a distant pack back then. They separated and ever since then, he has never dated any woman. 

Cynthia has always had a crush on him but it is a shame that he can never notice someone like her. 

Anyway, on the bright side, she is going on a date with the love of her life, Beta Ian.
