Blaire

The night air was thick with anticipation as I stood at the packhouse entrance, my pulse hammering beneath my skin. The moon hung high, casting silver light over the trees as Fredrick fastened a dagger to his belt. His movements were controlled, and precise, as if he had done this a hundred times before.

I, on the other hand, was still getting used to the idea of sneaking off into rogue territory with the man I had only recently come to trust.

“You don’t have to come,” Fredrick said without looking up.

I scoffed. “You and I both know that’s not an option.”

His lips twitched, the closest thing to amusement I’d seen from him since Jacob’s message appeared at our border. He pulled his hood over his head and turned to me, silver eyes glowing faintly in the dim light.

“If we’re doing this, we do it my way,” he said. “No reckless moves, no heroics.”

I folded my arms. “That’s rich, coming from you.”

Fredrick sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose. “I mean it, Blaire. Jacob isn’t just

My wolf snarled inside me, but I forced myself to stay still, knowing one wrong move could end in disaster.Fredrick tensed, his silver eyes glowing in the darkness. His stance was rigid, and controlled, but I could see the fury simmering just beneath the surface.“Let her go,” he growled, voice low and dangerous. The man behind me chuckled, his breath hot against my ear. “Or what, Alpha? You’ll start a war right here in the woods?”I could barely see him, but his scent was thick—wild, unkempt, laced with the undeniable stench of rogue. He wasn’t one of my father’s men, but that didn’t make him any less dangerous.“Do you even know who you’re threatening?” Fredrick asked, tilting his head slightly. “That woman in your grip is Blaire Ashbourne, daughter of Jacob.”The rogue hesitated, his grip on me tightening for a brief second before he let out a low whistle. “No shit? So the rumors are true.”“What rum

BLAIRE I closed my eyes tightly and swallowed hard before biting my lips and trying to control the nervous feeling in my chest, my heartbeat was pounding and getting ahead of me. This was happening. There was no turning back now. I could do this. Not like I planned to turn back. I wouldn’t. I couldn’t. I made up my mind. This was my last chance to make my father’s pack proud, to prove to my father having a girl wasn’t the biggest mistake of his life. Get it together, Blaire. “Aren’t you just the cutest thing?” the older woman, Emilia, stated as she put the last braid down my hair, forming a decent amount of braids on my dark hair. When she was satisfied with how lovely it looked and fitted my face, she began to put the hair mousse and vanilla fragrance conditioner into my hair strategically arranging my braids and laying my baby hairs into edges. “You’ll get picked for sure.” Deep breaths, Blaire. This is what you want. You want to be picked. I licked my dry lips, “I hope yo

BLAIRE The microphone squeaked before the speaker tapped it and spoke, “Gentlemen, can I have your full attention, please?” There was a pause while the crowd lowered their voice right before the room went silent. “Gentlemen, I want to thank you all for coming out today and participating in this round of Bind and Pack Match. Each lady you see before you has gone through careful evaluations and should hopefully meet your satisfaction. Take a good look at these ladies lined up, in just a few moments, I’m going to ask them to take a walk back to the waiting room and then I will display information and pictures of them, on the big screen and allow you choose carefully before inviting them, back on stage for you to get a closer look and maybe spark up a conversation. When your choice has been made, pick the color that matches your woman on the stage and place it in the box along with your highest offer. We will sort through the ballots and announce the winners later this evening before our

BLAIRE I heard the man standing in front of me cursing as I stood there awkwardly, under the scrutiny of the men. There was silence, silence for so long I thought maybe they all walked away and I somehow heard nothing of their departure. Finally, when my shoulder relaxed, and I let out a sigh of relief, I heard a throat clear. “Blaire, there is no one in this room that is a worse decision than you are. Everyone here just needs to read your profile to know that what I say is true. The daughter of Jacob Ashbourne has nothing but trouble and grief written all over her. But the fact that you signed up for Bind and Pack Match in secret tells me that maybe you already know this. The bastard who takes you on is either going to be really smart or so fucking dumb, and I can’t even tell you which.” “I understand,” I whispered meekly as I tried to hold back the tears. The man leaned in one more time, inhaling my scent before he and his companions walked away. Once he spoke the truth open

BLAIRE Put it together, Blaire. There is always next time. Only there wasn’t a next time, not really. The next Bind and Pack Match auction was months away, and after tonight, my father would surely be on to me, I will be more suffocated and trapped in his walls. Hell, chances were he had already noticed my absence and was tearing apart our whole land searching for me. Not because he cared, no . . . Jacob Ashbourne cared for no one but himself. He valued no one’s life over possessions, power, riches, and his pack. But I was useful to him. Useful because one day, I would be his bargaining chip. A virgin offered to grow his power and fortune, which was the only reason he kept me stored away, rarely letting me leave his house at all, I was only but a living rumor people hardly knew or saw.I knew that day was coming close, I’d heard the talk, the bargaining, the counteroffers. It was close, and I thought maybe escaping to Bind and Pack Match was my way out, but I failed. Now, not only w

BLAIRE“What’s wrong, Blaire? You look like you’re ready to run,” the one that I knew now as Fredrick Marlowe said, a smirk tilting up the corner of his lips. It’s because I am regretting my decision. “I-I’m not going to run.”His green eyes danced with humor, but his face seemed otherwise passive. “You sure about that?”“P-positive.”His eyes suddenly became cold. “I would be ready to run if I were you. Because you’re the daughter of the man who murdered our father and our entire family, and you just became mine.”Well, now, I’m terrified. “I didn’t know.”My voice came out as a whisper, but I knew he heard me. “It doesn’t change the facts, sweetheart.” He reached up to pull on a strand of curled braided hair by my ear, and I flinched. He pulled back, looking a bit annoyed. “Do you think I would hurt you?”Yes. Absolutely. No questions asked. I might be dead tomorrow. “No.”“We may despise your father in the pack, but we wouldn’t hurt you because of that fact. No, but you are part of

Fredrick The ceremony was quick; the blood pact with the sacred knife under the full moon and the merging of blood in the traditional room was fast and done with, thank the fuck for that. I thought for sure that any moment the scared little rabbit of a woman would flee and I would have to hunt her down and drag her back just to appease my damn wolf. The thought made him growl his approval. The moment he caught her scent when I took a whiff of her, he was adamant that this female belonged to him, and I’d be damned if I could get him to listen to any sort of reasoning. My wolf didn’t understand what a risky hatred investment purchasing Blaire Ashbourne would be. The potential for so much backlash would be immense. Still, I went against my better judgment and logic and bought her anyway. Partially to make my wolf happy but also waking up to a woman that gorgeous wouldn’t be a hardship I guess. The boys also all agreed that the benefit of having a beauty like Blaire outweighed the tr

BLAIRE I felt all eyes on me, waiting to see if I decided to step through or spend the rest of our marriage outside on the porch. As appealing as spending time on this porch was, I knew I had to move forward. Home? Well, I hadn’t quite gathered enough nerve for that. But, it turned out I didn’t have to. Before I could even say something or move forward, strong arms nudged me from behind and gently pushed me to take a step “Aren’t you going to take a step?” Jason asked. I nodded at him stepped into the house and turned to look around as I looked up into Lanny’s laughing light green eyes. “Your home looks nice,” I whispered. “Really? I’m sure this is nothing compared to your old man's house, ma’am.” He raised his eyebrows at me, I’m sure they all had different thoughts at the moment, but I really didn’t care. “I do think your place is good though, you guys can stop looking at me weirdly please .” I stood and faced all of them, feeling self-conscious about how they thought of

FredrickJacob had always been ruthless, but this—this was reckless, even for him.Orion’s words rang in my ears as I stormed back toward the packhouse with Blaire beside me. If Jacob was desperate enough to leave tracks leading toward human territory, then he was planning something bigger than threats carved into wood. He was looking for leverage.“We need to move fast,” Orion said, keeping pace beside me. “If Jacob’s men are heading toward the human town, it means he’s looking for a weakness.”Blaire’s steps faltered. “You don’t think—”“He’s not after humans,” I said quickly. “Not directly. He knows better than to draw that kind of attention.”Orion exhaled sharply. “Then what the hell is he after?”I had a sickening feeling I already knew the answer.Jacob had been an alpha for decades. He understood pack politics better than most, and he had no doubt been gathering information since the moment Blaire was taken from his reach. He wouldn’t attack blindly—he’d look for something to

  • THE ALPHA’S FATED MATE   Chapter 24

BlaireThe message burned to ash, but its weight remained. Even as the fire crackled and died, I could feel the eyes of the warriors around us, their silent questions thick in the air. What now? What was I willing to do? Would I be the reason their pack suffered?Fredrick’s hand remained against my lower back, a steady anchor in the chaos storming inside me. His silver eyes studied me, searching for a reaction, but I refused to let my fear show. I wouldn’t give Jacob the satisfaction, even from afar.“We double patrols,” Fredrick said finally, addressing Orion and the gathered warriors. “If Jacob wants to play games, we’ll be ready for him.”Orion nodded, already issuing quiet orders to the others. The warriors dispersed, leaving only Fredrick, me, and Calla standing by the smoldering remains of Jacob’s warning.Calla crossed her arms. “You should prepare for the elders to call a meeting about this.”I exhaled, dragging a hand through my hair. “Let me guess. They’ll want to know if I’

  • THE ALPHA’S FATED MATE   Chapter 23

BlaireThe tension from the meeting clung to me long after we left the main hall. The weight of the pack’s lingering doubts pressed against my shoulders, even as Fredrick and I walked in silence toward his study. His brothers had scattered, each taking on different tasks to reinforce security, while the rest of the pack prepared for whatever came next.Fredrick held the door open for me, and I stepped inside, inhaling the familiar scent of aged wood and parchment. He closed the door behind us, but the silence stretched between us like an unseen barrier.“You handled yourself well today,” he finally said, his voice calm but laced with something unreadable.I turned to face him, crossing my arms. “Did I? Because it felt like I was being tested, not just questioned.”Fredrick exhaled slowly, running a hand through his hair. “You were.”I scoffed. “At least you’re honest about it.”“They need to trust you, Blaire. And trust isn’t something freely given in a pack—it’s earned.”“I know that

  • THE ALPHA’S FATED MATE   Chapter 22

BlaireBy midday, my muscles ached from the morning’s training session, but there was no time to rest. Fredrick had called for a gathering in the main hall, and I knew this was another step in proving myself. As Luna, I needed to do more than fight—I had to earn the pack’s trust in ways that went beyond battle. The meeting hall was already filling when I arrived, Fredrick standing at the head of the room, his presence commanding as he surveyed the pack members gathered before him. His brothers were positioned along the edges of the space, silent but watchful. I took my place beside Fredrick, ignoring the wary glances sent my way.Elder Garrick stood and cleared his throat. “We received word this morning. Jacob AshBourne’s scouts have been seen near our borders.”A murmur spread through the room, tension thickening the air.Fredrick’s jaw tightened. “He’s testing us.”Jacob. My father. Even after everything, he wasn’t done trying to reclaim me.I kept my face neutral, but my heart poun

  • THE ALPHA’S FATED MATE   Chapter 21

BlaireThe morning after the meeting, I woke to the soft glow of dawn filtering through the curtains. For the first time since arriving in Fredrick’s pack, I felt like I had truly taken a step forward. No longer just an outsider, no longer just his bride—I was beginning to carve out a place for myself.I stretched, my muscles still sore from the fight with Kaelin, but the ache was a welcome reminder that I had earned my right to be here. Beside me, Fredrick was already awake, sitting at the edge of the bed, his bare back turned to me as he laced his boots. His silver eyes flicked to me over his shoulder.“You’re up early,” I murmured, voice still husky with sleep.“Responsibility doesn’t wait,” he said, smirking slightly. “And neither does training.”I sat up, rubbing my arms against the morning chill. “Training?”He turned fully now, studying me. “You want to lead? Then you need to be stronger, and faster. More than just surviving a fight—you need to be able to win without hesitation

  • THE ALPHA’S FATED MATE   Chapter 20

(Blaire’s POV)The adrenaline from the fight still buzzed beneath my skin as I followed Fredrick into the pack’s meeting hall. It was a grand space—large wooden beams arched across the ceiling, and a long table sat at the center, surrounded by the pack’s highest-ranking members. It was a place of leadership, of decision-making. And today, for the first time, I had earned a seat here.Fredrick pulled out a chair at the head of the table and gestured for me to sit. I hesitated for a moment, feeling the weight of the moment. This wasn’t just a meeting—this was my first true step into leadership. As I sat, the murmurs around the room quieted. The elders and key warriors took their seats, their expressions unreadable. I recognized some from the welcome dinner, while others were new faces.Elder Garrick cleared his throat, drawing attention to himself. “The challenge was fair, and the Luna proved herself in combat,” he said, his deep voice carrying through the room. “But strength alone does

BlaireDawn arrived too soon.I stood in the training grounds, my heart pounding as the cold morning air nipped at my skin. The pack had gathered in a loose circle, their murmurs filling the space as they waited for the fight to begin. Some watched with curiosity, others with skepticism, but I could feel their silent challenge—prove yourself.Across from me stood Kaelin, the warrior who had challenged me the night before. She was tall, lean, and radiated confidence. Her dark hair was braided tightly behind her, and her stance was relaxed but poised, ready to strike at a moment’s notice.Fredrick and his brothers stood at the front of the crowd, watching. Fredrick’s silver eyes held a quiet intensity, his arms crossed over his chest. He wasn’t going to interfere—this was my battle to fight.Elder Garrick stepped forward. “This is a test of strength and skill, not a battle to the death. The fight will end when one of you yields.”Kaelin smirked. “I hope you’re ready, Luna.”I rolled my
