"What are you doing?!" Maya hissed sharply, harshly, when she felt Leo trying to forcefully disengage her from the hold of Yodah. Although she was happy that the plan had worked, she was not in the market for the attention that they were already garnering. Couldn't the idiot behave civilly, and ask her for a dance, rather than trying to grab her away from Yodah's hands roughly?

"You are coming with me." Leo stated flatly, still trying to get her away from Yodah, but failing. No matter how he pushed, and dragged her hand, it was like he was attempting to pull a mountain to himself; an impossible feat. This was attracting attention to him, he knew, but he didn't care at the moment. He just wanted Maya to go out with him. They needed to talk, or whatever his wolf wanted. Seeing that his pulling wasn't working other than getting attention to him, he let his eyes wander to the vampire's face. The dude was smirking.

Leo cussed in anger as he realized that the latter had been the one making

Derek tightened his fists as he read the meaning in Maya's steady gaze. Earlier, he had agreed to do just that, if the attackers had come before his little witch. But now, he didn't see himself doing it. The same reason had suffixed again. How would others think of him if he abandoned them in battle and left to the safety of his room? He would be termed a weak alpha who didn't care for his people. No, he wouldn't do that. He would rather stay here and fight. If the beast rears his ugly head, then Anthony will subdue it again."Derek, go inside now!" he heard his mother shout at him through the mind link. But he refused to move from his position, glaring at Anthony, Shane and Clem afterwards when he noticed them approaching him. From the sorry look in their eyes, he was sure that they were about to carry him off to his room forcefully."Don't you dare." he said aloud to them, causing them to stop in their movements."We have a battle to fight, and I will do just that. If I feel the st

Immediately, the opposing werewolf threw in the challenge, Derek and his people took up the fighting stance, some already shifting into their werewolf forms. Derek debated on whether he should do the same, remembering his mother's words. What if Anthony's power does not work on the beast, since there might be some blood loss in the hall? What happens then?"Calm down." Anthony said to him through the mind link. "I won't let that beast take control, and cause more harm than good." He promised, shifting to his own wolf. With the assurance procured by Anthony's words, Derek allowed Maru to take over, the same time as the opposing werewolf shifted to his wolf version. The only people in their physical forms were the mages and Aiden, Freya and Yodah."Time to play." Aiden mentioned, tackling the first wizard which had attempted to throw a ball of fire at his lifemate. He lifted up the wizard with just a flip of his hand, and choked him to death, all in the space of ten seconds. The other

"Curtis is outside. And they need more wolves there. She wants you to communicate this to Anthony, and the others. Send out some wolves out there. I will talk to Yodah." Derek heard Freya say and immediately did as his cousin requested, passing the information to Anthony, who in turn gave the order that the wolves in the room should thin out to the outside, since they were almost done killing off the opposers in the hall. The vampires have been of great help.He also watched as Yodah shifted into a tiny bird, flying out of the hall to the outside atmosphere. He would continue his work out there."Thank you." He said to Freya, who nodded in her mist form, still by his side.Watching around the hall, he noticed that most of the mages were dead, many of the opposing werewolves too. None of his, to his joy, just a few wounded. They were winning the battle."You must be feeling good, right? Having the vampires by your side?"Derek heard from within him and jerked to a halt."Surprised?? Ha

The opposing werewolf snorted, watching the witch give up her ghost. Good riddance to rubbish. He thought, reaching out to his second in command through the mind link. He frowned deeply as he got no response. The latter was his best friend. He hoped that he wasn't dead. He tried reaching him again, but failed, startled to his feet when he heard a loud bang. What is that? He thought, remembering that he was right in the middle of a warfare, and worse, he was outnumbered. No, he couldn't die this way. His father definitely won't be concerned-yes, but won't be proved to be right either. He had something to prove to his father. His eyes caught Derek who was cowering before Anthony. The blue orb, whatever it was, was working. No, he couldn't let that happen. Letting his eyes wander back to the silver, he took in a deep breath softly, still surprised that the others in the room had forgotten his existence. Although he was happy about this, he was annoyed that they had forgotten him that e

Lucille stared at the woman who had claimed to be her mother, sitting still on the sofa, her fingers which were sprawled on her lap twitching at intervals, her head bowed as if in thought. She wondered what the woman, Sheila, was thinking about ten to fifteen minutes after Maryanne had announced that she, Lucille, was her daughter. There hadn't been a word spoken between them since then. Was the woman thinking of another strategy? She thought, furrowing her eyebrows.Left to her, Lucille thought that the woman should end this quest and go back to wherever she had come from. She could tell, from the scowl which kept getting deeping and wider on Tyler's face, that he was getting impatient, and might end up slapping and pushing the woman away from here. The thought of that had her digging her fingers into her pajamas so strongly, that her lap hurt. With a jerking speed, she realized that she didn't want the woman hurt. She already felt protective of her! What the hell was that?! She que

  • THE ALPHA'S ADDICTION   EMMA AT DEREK'S PARTY

"Bloodugering Hell! Ava, it looks worse in here!" Emma noted, stepping tentatively into the biggest hall she had ever been in, her mind reeling to the series of events that she had seen just in the name of a birthday party. This must be the worst birthday party ever. She thought. When she had been approaching the pack environs in the company of Julius and Ava after the episode with Casper and his fellow wizards, the first thing that had caught her eye was the beautiful flying dark blue dragon, the type that was seen in the 'Merlin movie series'. She had paused in her movement, mouth agape, watching in wonder as the dragon spat fire to whomever might have triggered its wrath, pitying whomever it was, feeling drawn into the movie proper, until Ava had shouted.Immediately, as if her senses had been recalled by an invisible force, her mind had returned back to reality and she had been able to process that the dragon was spitting fire on Melvina's estate, or rather the pack. Derek was in

Emma remembered that they had floated in the air within the rolling ball shield, smirking and laughing when the mean werewolves and mages had tried to penetrate it but to no avail."Julius had said that he had felt his brother's aura within you. How is that possible?" She had asked, as the ball had led them under the direction of Ava to a hall located on the southern wing of the pack."I don't know." Prescott had replied sincerely. It seemed he too, had been surprised too by Julius' statement."I will ask him about that later." He had stated, with a shrug. And before they had taken the last bend that had taken them to the hall, she had looked back for the last time, sighing as she had seen the bodies of dead wolves and mages on the ground. She had also seen Julius zap down to the ground in his normal physical self, posing himself in a duel stance with the large werewolf. The blue dragon had been flying still. And as she had drank the scenery in, she had remembered her dreams, and had

Emma felt like weeping, but she didn't even know how to go about that. She was all manner of speechless. Her face was an artwork of sorrow, deep sorrow. She shut her mouth, wet the upper ceilings of her mouth with her tongue, opened the buccal cavity to say something, but shut it again. She wanted to talk, to yell, to cuss and scream but she couldn't. She felt stupefied. No, more than that. There wasn't a word to accurately describe what she was feeling at the moment. Her throat was clogged with unshed tears and words. For the first time, she felt entrapped with words as she stared at the beast which hadn't taken away its gaze off her this whole time. The spell was broken, when she heard some steps behind her. She concluded, looking straight ahead at the beast, her brain already working to process the how and why her boyfriend

  • THE ALPHA'S ADDICTION   ANNABEL’S TRIAL

Emma’s eyes were as active as anything active as she watched the elders slowly walk into the hall reserved for judging cases, like Annabel’s. As she watched them, her feet kept dancing on the floor in a funny unsteady motion; she was unsteady. One, one. Then two, two. Then one two. Once, Amelia had looked at her, with a piqued eyebrow. ‘What is that?’ Her eyes seemed to ask, but Emma had given no answer. What is it? It should be what are they?! When they were hurrying over to the hall, after convincing the guards that they would be around for the trial too, her sister had whispered that the cabin, her parent’s cabin, had been burnt by the master, Slediv. It had brought Emma up short, making her stagger on her feet for two reasons. That Slediv had really traced them, even without her then, and that the cabin was burnt; the loss it meant for her parents. Would they regret helping her then? Prescott didn’t think so. But Emma was still worried about it, just like her mind had tried

  • THE ALPHA'S ADDICTION   BAD BLOOD

One week later:Emma had run to the clinic, immediately Adah had burst into her apartment with the news that Annabel and Amelia were awake. Over the couple of days in class, they had bonded over gossip, and training, seeing as the latter was the only one that had been sincerely interested in her. Emma had run with Prescott in her hands, and Adah right behind her. And when she arrived at the room she had frequented daily with prayers, and saw her sister and her friend chatting tiredly, she let out a scream of happiness and hurried over to them. “Amelia! Annabel!” She called gaily, garnering the attention of the two females sitting cross-legged on the same bed. Before they could let out a shout or smile of their own, Emma’s hands were already around them. “Oh my goodness, I am so happy for both of you…” she paused. “but give me a heartache again, and I will skin you both alive..” Annabel and Amelia divulged bouts of laughter, with the nurses. Prescott and Adah weren’t left behind,

  • THE ALPHA'S ADDICTION   CLAIRE AND FAMILY IV

Caden sighed in relief at his mate’s words, wanting to believe at all costs that the years he had spent with her, that the love they had shared, hadn’t been in vain. He didn’t know what he would have done otherwise. Cry, brood? Neither was acceptable in these times. And so, he wasn’t moved when his son piqued an eyebrow at his mate’s words, or when his daughter’s lips turned up—in disgust or curiosity, he wasn’t sure. But he didn’t care. He just hung on to the thread that his mate was spinning with. “I didn’t cheat on my mate, I’m sure he would have found out if I had done so, considering the mate bond and all that…” There was a pause, where relief sunk its foothold the more in Caden and his children. “So, if that’s what you are thinking, Caden… if that’s what you all are thinking, cut it out. I was surprised too when Claire had met me with the news at first, and I didn’t tell you, Caden, because I wasn’t sure how to explain the phenomena to you. I knew you held the lineage of you

  • THE ALPHA'S ADDICTION   CLAIRE AND FAMILY III

Chyra didn’t know what Clem was talking about—the end of the world, and all that—but she knew that she was to blame for Claire rejecting her mate considering what she had soaked into her daughter’s mind about the alpha’s family, about how the Luna seat was her birthright. She also knew that she shouldn’t be working with Arnold. But she was too proud to concede to that, to concede to anyone, and so she shrugged her shoulders to Clem’s question. In the next second, she saw why that had been a wrong play on her part. When she saw Clem fume in anger, when she saw Claire glare at her stinkingly, when she saw her mate watch her like she was foolish, she knew that she had made a mistake. It would have been best if she had kept quiet, than giving off that nonchalant attitude. But her pride held her back from apologizing. Why should she apologize for being a mother caring to give her daughter the best? “Mother, are you so daft that…” Clem was saying when his father shouted him down. Caden

At this point, Clem didn’t know what to think about his sister, Claire. He had thought that their parents had been her motivator to reject Curtis, to follow Curtis up and down, to join the meetings that prince Nathan held with the others, but from the thick astounded silence that dwelled in the room, it could be safe to say that his sister had been acting on her own, without any external influence. He didn’t know what to think of that. He looked at his mother; she looked more shocked out of her shoes and mind than his father, quite expected since the mother and daughter duo were quite close, since his sister had no mind of hers, except put into place by his mother. As much as he was not happy with his twin, he was happy that for once his mother had no part to play in her recent escapades. “What do you mean…Claire?” Caden asked, pushing himself ahead, his elbow resting on his knees. “What do you mean when you say that Curtis is your mate? When did that happen? When did you find out?

  • THE ALPHA'S ADDICTION   CLAIRE AND FAMILY

What Claire saw first when she stepped into her father’s room was her parents sitting in the living room, with Clem, their backs hunched, the air filled with pregnant silence, waiting. They were waiting for her. She knew it from the moment she had dropped a note in Clem’s mind that she was on her way home. That he hadn’t bothered with a response, should have been enough to let her know that her twin was still angry with her. But she had held out hope, until she had reached the borders of the pack and he hadn’t been waiting for her. This was very different from the times they had quarrels. She knew, however, that this quarrel was different. She had denied her mate, because of the throne; had gone ahead to push Emma away from the pack; and when Derek still hadn’t chosen her, she had returned to Curtis because he was an Alpha. Would she have returned to him if he wasn’t that? She didn’t know. That was the truth. She didn’t know. She might have gone back to Curtis, even if he wasn’t a

  • THE ALPHA'S ADDICTION   ANOTHER MATE FOR CURTIS

At Wind Winders Pack.“Dad, what is this? What was Zoe doing in my room so early in the morning?” Curtis questioned, a second after he rushed into the dining room where his parents were having breakfast. He had slept in obviously, but he didn’t care. Yesterday’s training had been rigorous after all. He darted his eyes between his mother and father; his mother’s widened eyes told him that she had no idea what he was talking about; quite expected since this turn of event hadn’t been part of their plans. Hence, he trained his eyes on his father; the old man just continued eating his breakfast like he hadn’t spoken. Curtis thought of repeating himself, but thought better of it. He walked up to his father, and took away his plate of food; an act that he wouldn’t have been able to try before; an act that might have spelt his death; but considering his father’s few options of allies, he knew that he had a chance to live. And so, when his father glared at him heatedly, he didn’t quake in hi

  • THE ALPHA'S ADDICTION   PRESCOTT IS AWAKE

“Hey…how are you feeling?” Emma whispered, touching Prescott’s head softly, as she watched him open his eyes for the second time. The first time, she had screamed and had called for the nurse in charge of his treatment, not minding that Adah was with her. Nothing could have dampened her joy. She had just checked on Annabel and Amelia, who although their vitals were stable, was still asleep, yet out of coma. According to the chief nurse, a week was enough for them to wake up now. Then she had checked on Prescott, and only touching him with fondness had elicited the response of his eyes opening. Emma had been overjoyed. “Prescott, can you hear me?” She asked softly, dragging a seat to herself, whilst Adah watched on, not understanding the communication method of the squirrel and Emma. Like the people in the community, she had never seen a talking animal, or rather an animal that communicates as Emma had painted Prescott to be. Her friend who was in the upper echelons of the community

  • THE ALPHA'S ADDICTION   STARTING CLASSES III

No professor spoke to her, and Emma couldn’t help but wonder why. Had Prince Shiloh ask them to avoid her? Or had professor Brooks’ defeat scared them away from her? Well, if that was the matter, then she believed it was for the greater good. She had no interest in making affiliations after all, so long as they taught her what she wanted to know, and treated her fairly. “So, do you think you can cope?” She heard Adah ask, and turned aside to see her new seat mate. The mischievous glint in the latter’s eyes made her smile, howbeit small. “I believe I can.” She answered, before getting on her feet. She took her bag which Gira had provided that morning and slung the straps across her shoulder. It was time to go home, or rather check on her friends. Classes were done for the day. “Where are you going?” Adah asked her, getting to her feet. As they walked toward the door, a couple of the students swiftly moved, and stood before the door, causing Emma to furrow her eyebrows. But she chose
