CHAPTER 143 (PRIDE OR EGO?)

ANNA’S POV

My heart squeezed in pain at the accusation, but I didn’t let it get to me. Rather I was happy to see him on the island, it meant that he came for me. It meant that his anger had been subsided and there was a solution. We could come to a compromise.

I started walking towards him with hope, but he raised his right hand and placed it in front of me.

“Do not even think of bringing your filthy legs here! Have you lost it? How dare you, Anna? Who the fuck do you think you are?”

“Excuse me, who are you?” Charles interjected, pulling me behind him but I pushed him aside.

“Let it be Charles,” I growled turning my attention to Xavier. “Xavier, we can talk about this. This is only—” My words faded into the air, blending with the breeze coming from the sea as the men around me had other plans.

The heavy sound of a punch landing on their skin snapped me back to reality and that was when I realized that Xavier had pulled me towards him, and he had landed a punch on Charles.
