Celine
My mind was still spinning from everything I had witnessed. Kaiden had chosen his Luna, his queen. And it wasn’t me.
I sat on the edge of my bed, my fingers gripping the thin fabric of my blanket. My heart ached, but I forced myself to remain still, to breathe, to not let the emotions consume me. I needed to leave. There was no other choice.
There was nothing holding me back. Wiping my tears away, I gave the room one last look. I only liked one night in this palace and that was last night. The bittersweet feeling rushed through me and more tears pushed against my eyelid. I let out a shaky sigh and stood up, steeling myself..
Just as I reached for my small bag, the door burst open with a force that sent my heart hammering against my ribs. I barely had time to react before strong arms wrapped around my waist, lifting me off the ground as if I weighed nothing.
“Kaiden!” My cry was cut off as he lifted me onto his shoulder, his grip strong and unmoving. I thrashed against him, my fists pounding against his back. “Put me down!”
He ignored me. His powerful strides carried us out of my room and into the dark corridors of the castle. Servants who saw us quickly averted their gazes, scurrying away as if they feared what was to come. I feared what was to come, but above all I was livid.
“Kaiden, stop! What are you doing?!” My voice wavered with anger and panic woven in my tone, but he didn’t answer.
I was too stunned to fight properly until he kicked open the doors to his chambers and threw me onto the massive bed. My breath hitched as I scrambled to sit up, but before I could move, he was towering over me, his golden eyes glowing with anger that made me shiver. His wolf too was angry and I've heard what happens when a king’s wolf is angry. But he wouldn't hurt me would he?
“Do you have a death wish, Celine?” His voice was dangerously low, barely above a whisper, yet it sent chills down my spine.
I swallowed hard, refusing to let him see my fear. “What are you talking about?” I shot back, my voice trembling despite my efforts to sound strong.
His jaw clenched. “I told you to stay in my room. I told you not to go to the hall. A simple and direct order.”
I scoffed, folding my arms across my chest. “Well it's good I came then at least now I know where I stand. And you don't need to pretend you care anymore. The show’s over.” I spat, moving to get off the bed, but he dragged me back.
“You don't leave unless i dismiss you Celine.”
I struggled against his grip, but his strength was unmatched. My breath came in ragged gasps as I glared at him. “You don’t own me, Kaiden.”
His eyes darkened, and he leaned in, his presence wrapping around my throat like a vice. “You are mine, Celine. Mine.” A possessive and raw growl left his lips. “And you will listen to me.”
I shook my head, my heart pounding. “No, Kaiden, I can't do this. Just let me go and you can have your luna. I wouldn't get in the way I promised. I’ve seen enough to know my place.”
His expression darkened. He reached forward, gripping my chin between his fingers, forcing me to meet his gaze. “And what did you see?”
I glared at him, my nails digging into my palms. “I saw that I’m nothing to you.”
He raised a brow at me, before looking away. “If you can let a public announcement of a new slave mean that I have claimed her as my maid, then it would make no difference if I told you you are wrong.”
My heart skipped a beat as his eyes met mine again, filled with an expression I couldn't decipher.
So she was just a slave? Was I panicking for no reason?
“So you mean she's just a slave? I didn't…” I trailed off, my face reddening with embarrassment as I looked away.
Kaiden exhaled sharply, his frustration evident. “You let your emotions cloud your judgment too easily, Celine.”
I bit my lip, feeling foolish. “Then why didn’t you tell me?”
His jaw tightened. “Because it doesn’t matter. You should have trusted me.”
I scoffed. “Trust you? How can I trust you when you keep secrets? I didn't know anything about her until Anya mentioned her.”
He stepped closer, his towering form making me feel small. “Not all secrets are meant to hurt you.” His hand softly grazed my chin, causing my heart to skip a breath.
For a moment we just stared into each other’s eyes, and hus gaze dropped to my lips, before he pulled back, and gestured to the bed.
“Lay flat on your chest.” he commanded, pulling his belt, wrapping it around his wrist.
My brows furrowed in confusion.”Why? Whats the belt for?”
His eyes twinkled with mischief, but his expression was as serious as ever.
“Your punishment. I gave a direct order and you defiled it. Most people spend a night in the dungeon. But you, lucky girl, gets whipped on her ass.”
There was something about his tone that made my thighs clench in arousal and I gasped in shock.
“Kaiden…” I trailed off as he pulled his shirt off before kneeling on the bed.
“Pull your panties, darling. Or would you like me to do it for you?”
CelineThe days had changed since that night, and Kaiden made me his personal maid. My duties no longer revolved around scrubbing floors or taking orders from every noble who deemed me beneath them or every maid who wanted to pick on me. This meant less work, less bullying and more time with Kaiden. I could see that the other maids hated me now tat i was almost untouchable and it felt great to not constantly have to look over my shoulder. That was supposed to be the plan.I hummed happily as i carried Kaiden’s laundry basket to the laundry room, which ive been using constantly because of the things Kaiden did to me in the room. My face reddened as i remembered them, but i cleared my throat and hid my face with my hair as i entered into the laundry room. But the sight before me turned my mod sour. Lydia, the princess turned slave and her minions, the other slaves that felt intimidated by her because she was a princess. Lydia was beautiful in every meaning of the word, but she was the
“Who did this to you?” Kaiden’s tone was deadly still as he gripped my chin to see the claw marks on my face. I didn't want him to see the marks, but he demanded to see me and the marks were taking forever to heal.I didn't wnat him to make a big deal out of it. It only made things worse. I want dto handle it myself. “Kaiden.. I can handle it okay? You don't have to-”“I said, who did this to you?” he gripped my jaw tightly and I could see his wolf flash behind his eyes.If I didnt tell him, he was just going to get it out of me so I sighed. “Lydia. But to be fair, i said mean things-”“I do not care. I’m going to make that spoilt princess see what happens when you cross me.”"Where is she?" His voice was dangerously low, a growl rumbling from deep in his chest.I grabbed his wrist, trying to soothe him. "Kaiden, please. It’ll only make things worse."His piercing gaze snapped to mine. "For who? You?" His thumb brushed over the drying blood on my cheek, his expression unreadable. "S
KaidenThe council summons came shortly after the incident in the hall, not at all taking me by surprise. Lydia was a princess before i turned her to a slave, and in the order of importance, she was above Celine. And slamming her against the pillar, reminding everyone that she was beneath Celine, was a statement.A declaration.I had made it clear that Celine was untouchable. I had shown that celine was my weakness. And the council would never allow that. And i was sure Anya had a major part to play in the summons. Anya hated being told no and not getting her way.“That’s okay, you can take your leave.” I dismissed my beta, who gave Celine a weary glance before leaving. The door shut behind my beta, plunging Celine and I into a tension filled state of silence.I watched her as she stared out of the window at nothing in particular, and I was sure if I listened closely, i could hear the gears of her head overworking."You have to leave for the council," she stated, not asked.“They can
AnyaI watched as my uncle Kaien stormed out of the council chambers with anger. The very thing I feared was happening before me. Celine having control of my uncle and rendering me unimportant to him. I wanted my uncle back. And I needed Celine out. That bloodsucking pest had to go, permanently. I just had to think of a way that didn’t point back to me.Elder Vaughn sighed, rubbing his wrinkled temple. “We've tried her best. He's not making her Luna. i'll make sure of that.”Celine thought she was safe. She thought Kaiden’s protection meant she was untouchable. How naive.I twirled my wine glass between my fingers, watching the crimson liquid swirl like blood. It was almost poetic. Soon, Celine’s downfall would be just as fluid, just as inevitable. The scent of lavender and honey filled the air
Celine“Are you sure about this, Kaiden? Is it really a good idea to attend Anya’s coming of age’s party? And as your guest instead of your maid? Isn't that flaunting us in her face? You know she hates me already.” I panicked as I struggled to zip my dress while I stood at the mirror.Kaiden let out a small chuckle, looking incredibly handsome as he strode to me wearing his black ceremonial suit. The suit did nothing to hide his muscles, and I hid away my blush as he stood behind me and helped me with my dress.“You worry too much, love. I already assured you it was fine, as a matter of fact, I am sure Anya hates me a whole lot less after all the gifts i got her. I paid a huge sum of money to have her favorite singer here today so this should be the least of her concerns.” Kaiden’s fingers trailed upwards, igniting a flame in me.He placed a kiss on the side of my neck. “You should worry less. I can handle it all, I promise. Trust me” his gaze met mine in the mirror and I smiled, turn
CelineI have been working as a salve maid for five years to get redemption for a crime I never committed. At three pm today, my last shift ends, meaning I don’t have to be a slave anymore. My eyes landed on the clock and I watched as the clock chimed at three, and at the same time, the Invincible weight I had on my shoulders for the last five years was lifted. A tear slid down my eyes.“I’m free.” I whispered to myself as I got up from my spot on the floor. And today I was going to see my parents when they came to get me. A smile widened on my lips again. I get to see my mama again.“You still believe that they care about you.” My wolf spoke up and sighed.“They would come, Silver. You are so pessimistic. I may not be their real daughter but I am still a part of their family.”Silver scoffed. “But they didn’t come to check on you? Not even a letter? That family doesn’t deserve you.”When I was young, I never doubted who I was. I am the Alpha’s daughter. My parents love me, and my bro
CelineThe world tilted beneath my feet. “No… that’s not true,” I whispered, shaking my head. “They promised—”They promised to take me home after I was released from the palace.“They lied.” Sheila’s words cut me as sharp as a blade would. “They don’t care about you. They don’t even remember you exist. Honestly, you should thank me. At least now you know where you stand—on your knees, scrubbing floors. It suits you.”A tear slid from my eye. My parents lied about the service term? They were never going to get me after five years?“Please don’t do this to me? ”Sheila smirked, her eyes glinting with malice. “Oh, Celine, this is what you are good for. Now refill my cup, slave.” She sneered holding up her tea cup for me to fill.I sniffled back my tears as I took small steps to the chair she and Anya sat, looking at me with hatred in their eyes. I didn't believe her words. Mother and father would never allow this. She probably brainwashed them like she did to Anya. The porcelain tea jug
KaidenAfter so many years, I stepped foot into my pack again. My mind link being set in place again. My men and I have been gone for so long, it felt good and warm to be at the pack again.Years ago I wouldn’t have thought I would come to miss my kingdom, but after my brother and sister-in-law died, I had to take over and wear the heavy crown and take care of my niece who only had me. But due to the border rebellion from the nasty rogues, I had to leave her too.And the minute I mind linked her that I was back to the pack, I could feel her excitement through the link. But something else caught my attention. As our pack tradition, when the king returned, the guards and maids lined up to welcome him.But that wasn’t what stole my attention. A maid, fallen on the ground, unmoving. The sight of her struck me like a bolt of lightning. Her soft features, the delicate curve of her neck—everything about her tugged at my instincts. My wolf stirred restlessly within me, a primal energy clawing

The laughter and the music of the banquet faded into the background as i laid back in my throne, my gaze fixed on the now-empty space where Princess Lydia had been moments ago. I watched as the servants escorted her away, her spine stiff but her head held high, and i scoffed underneath my breath. Foolish of her to think when i captured her she could be anything but a slave. The days of her being royalty were over and here she would only be regarded as a property, like the ancient china we acquired alongside her. She was nothing more than a captive, a spoil of war, and she would do well to remember that."Your Majesty, should I have her sent to the servant’s quarters?" One of my guards asked, awaiting my command.I waved him off. "Lock her away for now. She will learn soon enough that she has no right to negotiate with me."The guard bowed and retreated, and I exhaled slowly, rolling my shoulders. My patience was wearing thin. This night was meant to be a celebration, yet all I could
CelineStaying in my room while the festivities went on in the hall was torture. Has Kaiden introduced his fiancée yet? Was Anya telling the truth? Those questions tumbled back and forth in my mind, and I couldn't keep still. I couldn't just sit here while my mate might potentially be introducing his fiancée to the whole kingdom, while I deceived myself into thinking we were more than what I felt we were. And after tossing and turning, I couldn't take it any longer. I pulled a coat out of my closet and wore it to conceal myself from being recognized before rushing downstairs to see what was going on.The grand hall was more alive than it had been earlier today, and as I stood in the corner and watched, I felt like an outsider. The room was filled with laughter, music, and beautiful wolves. Nobles danced in pairs, warriors boasted of their victories, and servants rushed about, ensuring the guests were well tended to. But none of it mattered. My eyes searched for only one person, and w
Kaiden Tonight's banquet was meant to celebrate our victory in war, a hard-fought triumph that secured the kingdom's power. The grand hall was filled with nobles, warriors, and Alphas and Lunas from across the realm. Goblets clinked, laughter echoed, and music played, yet I found myself only half-engaged. My mind drifted elsewhere, specifically to a certain stubborn woman who was not in attendance and i havent been able to get out of my mind.Princess Anya stood beside me, her arm looped through mine as she played the perfect hostess, but I knew her well enough to see through her act.Her grip was just a bit too tight, and the way her lips curled into a forced smile was way too similar to her father’s angry grimance. But i did not feel any need to console her. The last thing i wanted was for her to think i would take her ill treatment of my mate in dtride all because she was my neice.“Uncle,” She called out sweetly, but i knew her enough to detect the venom in her words.“Yes, Anya
