CHAPTER 9: CERTAINLY UNEXPECTED
EVERLY: Suddenly, something whooshed past me. I glanced around to see what was going on and before I could react, a large, grey wolf slammed into me, and knocked me off my feet. His move was more playful than aggressive, but the force of it sent me sprawling. “Whoa!” I yelped, scrambling back. “Hey! I’m not—" My words died in my throat as my vision blurred, and my bones cracked loudly. Then I felt a surge of power flood through my bones. No, no, no! I tried frantically to stop myself, but it was too late. I was on all fours, before I made sense of what was going on. This was my second time shifting and I was puzzled cuz I thought I was supposed to have control over my wolf. The grey wolf, now looking slightly sheepish, whined and took a step back. “Everly?” Kaelan’s voice sounded quite… intrigued. Then another wolf, a sleek black female, darted forward, and growled playfully. She was obviously challenging me for a spar. My wolf responded in kind and lunged. I was no longer surprised about the sudden transformation as I felt thrilled, sparring with these werewolves. We circled each other, as the black wolf made the first move, snapping at my flank. I dodged, but my own snarl nimbled in my chest. The fight – a playful spar, really – was on. "Impressive," I heard Kaelan's voice as he spoke with Daniel and Owen. "She's holding her ground against Jane." Jane. So that was her name. She was fast, and agile. But I… I felt different. Stronger than I’d ever felt before. My wolf moved with a confidence I never possessed in my human form. We clashed again, with our fur and teeth. I managed to get behind Jane, nipping at her heels. She twisted, as she tried to shake me off, but I held on, playfully tugging at her tail. "She's… remarkably skilled," Kaelan observed. "Where did she learn to fight like that?" I couldn’t answer, obviously. My wolf was too busy having the time of her life. The spar went on for several minutes, and we both controlled our aggression. Nothing but playful nips. Finally, we broke apart, panting. I shook my fur excitedly and looked towards Kaelan. He watched me with a flicker of pride in his eyes. "Well," he said, as he smiled radiantly. "That was certainly… unexpected." KAELAN: As I watched Everly interact with the pack members, I was filled with a quiet pride. She was certainly nervous, but she wasn't showing it. That was a good sign.. Later in the evening, I took her to the fire pit in the main house’s courtyard. She sat beside me and looked lost in thought. I glanced at her occasionally as the flickering flames cast a golden glow on her face. “Are you enjoying it here?” I asked, moving closer. She looked at me, and her expression softened. “Of course.” I sat beside her, and the warmth of the fire was a comforting contrast to the cool night air outside. “How are you feeling?” I asked. “ I feel a bit tired,” she admitted. “But it’s... okay.” I nodded, understanding. “My pack members are beginning to like you, you know.” “Maybe,” she said, her gaze focusing on the fire. “It’s just... a lot to take in.” “I know,” I said gently. “But you’re doing great, you know. I'm impressed with how you relate with them.” She turned to me, her eyes searching mine. “Why do you keep believing in me, Alpha? I find it hard to understand?” “Beyond this fragile frame, I see who you are,” I said simply. “And I see who you can become.” Her lips parted, but no words came out. Instead, she moved closer, resting her head on my shoulder. For a moment, we sat in comfortable silence, as the fire cracked softly beside us. “Thank you,” she whispered. “For what?” “For rescuing me. And making me feel like I belong.” I placed a gentle kiss on her hair. “You do belong, Everly. You might not know it yet but this pack is yours as much as it's mine.” She put her hand in mine and I could feel her body trembling. “Please,” she said “Don't raise my hopes for nothing. I don't think I can survive another rejection.” Her vulnerability tugged at my heart. “You will never feel rejected in this pack. Not while I'm still living.” Cough, cough. I turned to see Seraphina, glaring at Everly.CHAPTER 10: MEETING SERAPHINA EVERLY:The fire burned softly, and I enjoyed how its warmth made my entire body cozy. I sat next to Kaelan and put my head on his shoulder, while my eyes remained closed. I felt so comfortable leaning on him and I was willing now to give our relationship a chance. He has assured me on several occasions that I was safe with him.I actually liked Kaelan, despite the fact that he looked very intimidating.“What are you thinking about?” He asked suddenly, as if he read my thoughts.“Nothing.” I responded quietly. After a thought, I said, “I'm just wondering how I went from being a homeless werewolf to being here with the Alpha King.”Kaelan chuckled. “It's fate, Everly. The Moon Goddess has already destined it.”I nodded. I think I actually believe him.We chatted over minor issues, and I was really beginning to feel at home when someone made a throaty cough behind us. I followed Kaelan's gaze and saw a beautiful girl standing within a short distance. I've
CHAPTER 11: I'LL BE WAITING EVERLY:“You are the little miss who thinks she can take my place?” she said smoothly as we faced each other.I assessed her with suspicious eyes, “It depends on what you mean, Seraphina.”Her lips curved into a smile that didn’t reach her eyes. “I am the strongest female warrior in the Crescent Moon Pack. Haven't you heard about me?”“No, I haven't.’ I said, shaking my head.“Well, I'm here to inform you that I deserve a place beside Alpha Kaelan as his Luna and not some weak creature like you who has nothing to offer.”I felt a flush of embarrassment as I lowered my eyes.“You’re ashamed, aren’t you?” she taunted, stepping closer. “You know deep down you’ll never be enough for him. He was probably bored while I was away and you think you can step into my shoes? How pathetic.”I didn't say a word because I was embarrassed. Kaelan never told me that he had a girlfriend. Seeing that I didn't respond, she continued. “You’re nothing but a placeholder for the
CHAPTER 12: MEETING THE MONSTER EVERLY:I focused my eyes in the direction of that sound and trembled when the large, shadowy figure emerged. It shifted and changed into different forms and shapes and I wondered if I was still alive. It was a creature of nightmare, a beast with razor-sharp claws and a murderous hunger that burned in its eyes."Who... what are you?" I stammered in fear. I backed away as fear took over me.Run! Ruby advised me. But I knew it was no use.The creature let out a guttural sound, and the sound seemed to vibrate through my very soul. It lunged suddenly with its outstretched claws, and I barely managed to dodge the attack. As I stumbled backward, I caught a glimpse of its face. It had a human face but looked distorted. This creature was probably once human, but something had twisted it into a monster."What have they done to you?" I whispered, my voice barely audible. The creature paused, and locked eyes with me. Then, it turned and vanished into the darkne
CHAPTER 13: I LOVE YOU TOO KAELAN;—It was getting late and we needed to get out of the forest fast. Not that I was afraid—a Lycan King can never show fear—but I didn't want to put Everly in any form of danger. The fastest way to get back home was by moving in our Wolf forms. I caught a glimpse of her Wolf today but it wasn't very strong. So I shifted back to my Lycan form and crouched down, ordering her to climb on top of my back. She hesitated for a moment and obeyed. As she held tightly onto me, I raced with a lightning speed. In a quarter of an hour, we were back in the castle. As we returned home, I noticed Everly was unusually quiet. Too quiet. “What's on your mind, beautiful girl.”“Nothing,” she said without meeting my gaze. I watched her all evening, hoping to see a change in her attitude but she remained cold and aloof. Dinner was served and as we settled down to eat, I focused my gaze on her.It was unlike her to sit silently, with her fork pushing food around and he
CHAPTER 14: SHE IS A ROGUE EVERLY:“Alpha King,” Elder Jonas greeted. His graying hair was a testament to his decades of service to our kingdom. His tone was respectful, but the unease in his eyes betrayed his intentions.“Elders,” I said, standing tall. “I summoned you all here to introduce my mate to you. Her name is Everly and she is from the Silver Cross, one of the pack's within our kingdom.”Jonas exchanged a glance with Elder Miriam, the oldest and often most vocal member of the council. She's also Seraphina 's mother.“Oh you found a mate,” Miriam said, her voice sharp. “ And her name is Everly.”The sound of Everly's name on Miriam’s tongue sent a flicker of anger through me, but I kept my face neutral. “Yes?”“She is... a rogue,” Jonas began delicately. “We understand if you claim she is your mate, but her arrival has stirred unease among some of the pack.”“Unease?” I echoed, my voice dangerously low.Miriam folded her hands with a stern expression . “She was chased out of
CHAPTER 15: REVEALING THE PROPHECY EVERLY:As the last elder left the chamber, Kaelan took my hand and led me to his room. This was the first time I've entered his room and it made my breath hitch. His room was spacious and luxuriously furnished. I stared at his portrait that hung on the wall. It was a captured image of him, sitting on his throne, wearing all the regal attires of a Lycan King. It was beautiful.Suddenly, Kaelan turned me around and pinned me against the wall, gazing at me with lustful eyes. I blushed and lowered my lashes, unable to meet his gaze. He lifted my chin so I could look at him. “You’re beautiful, Everly,”“Thank you, Kaelan. You are handsome too.” I blurted before I could stop myself. His gaze became more intense and he lowered his lips to mine. His lips brushed mine in a seductive way and I felt my body ache for his touch. He deepened the kiss, while his hand moved down my back until it settled on my butt and squeezed gently. He kiss me so passionately
CHAPTER 16: MY FIRST CONTESTEVERLY:After Kaelan said those words, my heart trembled in fear. It was almost impossible to believe that there would be such a strong prophecy about someone as insignificant as me.All these years I had lived like a puppet, thinking I was created by mistake. But the Moon Goddess had bigger plans. Oh how I wish I could bring prosperity to the werewolf kingdom instead of doom.Well, I was just going to do my best and leave the rest for the goddess above. Kaelan and I spent the rest of the night in each other's arms while he occasionally traced wet kisses around my neck. I returned to my room in the morning and found breakfast already waiting for me.Kaelan had left early for a business engagement so we aren't sharing breakfast today. I ate my food in silence, feeling bored already. I can't really explain it but I've begun to feel empty whenever Kaelan wasn't around.I didn't have much activities to participate in, in the castle, especially after Kaelan
CHAPTER 17: THE ELDERS PROTEST KAELAN:I was worried about the unnatural glow I saw in Everly's eyes during that fight and decided to keep an eye on her.Later in the evening, I walked into her room and found her sitting on her bed, totally drenched in cold sweat.“Are you alright?” I enquired gently as I walked toward her. I could see her chest heaving and her face pale.“What's wrong, Everly?”“I had a nightmare,” she said softly.“What was it about?”“An unseen force crept into my body and I felt suffocated,” she told me.I searched her face, wondering what was going on. Just then, I received a message from Duncan, my Beta through the mind link. The werewolf council members are here to see you. “Go and have a bath,” I said to Everly.”I'll be back in a short while.”—I walked into the Council Chambers and felt the tension in the room. I took my seat and glanced around the faces of the elders, wondering why they were here. The Council Chamber was usually a space for calm delibera
CHAPTER 101: I DON'T WANT THINGS, KAELAN.KAELAN: I’d taken the priestess’s vial in a desperate move to ensure that our packs survive against our enemies' growing threat. But the price was a chilling void where my love for Everly should have been. Or, at least, the expression of that love. The feeling was still there, buried deep in my heart, but the ability to show it was gone. And she's been so cold lately and has been avoiding me.I bought her a diamond ring and other expensive jewelry to show her that she was still precious to me. I didn't think I could face her yet, so I sent Owen to give her the gifts.I waited anxiously for her to come to me. But she didn't. Instead, Owen came back with the package and a note with Everly's handwriting.“What did she say?” I asked, my voice rough, as Owen entered the room.He shook his head, looking so grim. “She didn't take the gifts, Alpha. Not even a single one.”“She refused them?” My voice cracked and I could feel my heartbeat accelerati
CHAPTER 100: WE'RE WELL PREPARED KAELANThe moment Everly left, I felt so frustrated that I punched the wall until my fist began to bleed. I wanted to tell her everything. But how could I, when I wasn’t even sure I’d ever go back to being normal?Owen came back in and stood in front of me, waiting for me to give him attention. I stared at him blankly and it made him feel a little uncomfortable. “Alpha, Zeus has moved faster than we anticipated.”I leaned forward and my weight made the polished wood to creak in response. “Faster how, Owen? I thought we had eyes on him.”“We do,” he confirmed, and lowered his gaze down to the folder before returning to mine. “He may not be able to buy weapons directly, but he’s working through proxies—human criminal syndicates.”“Really.”“Yes, Alpha. He’s negotiating a deal, an arms deal, with the Serpent’s Coil cartel. They’re… well, they’re not exactly known for their peaceful resolutions. They’ll provide the weapons he needs in exchange for someth
CHAPTER 99: I DON'T NEED THIS KAELAN:I was going through some files in the office and got a message from Kenneth, a business associate of mine about the latest market trends.I'm a werewolf Alpha but I also run a lot of flourishing businesses. I've been away from the metropolis for a while but my businesses are in capable hands.Kenneth and I chatted for a while, while Owen stood before me, his face devoid of emotions as always.I knew something was wrong. Something seems to be always wrong these days. As soon as I was done chatting with Kenneth, I gave Owen my attention. I knew something was wrong but I knew I couldn't tell what it was until I heard from him.“Speak,” I ordered, my voice sharp.Owen looked at me directly. “Alpha, Zeus is furious about the new threaty. But he's not giving up. He’s resorted to meeting with underground arms dealers, trying to find a way around the restrictions.”I clenched my jaw. “He won’t succeed. The mayor may be human, but he knows better than to
CHAPTER 98: A GROWING DISTANCEEVERLY:I was so pissed with Kaelan’s sudden change of attitude towards me. I can hardly believe this was the same Kaelan I had married. He claims to still be here when actually he isn't.As I stormed out of the bedroom in anger, I expected him to catch my arm, pull me to himself and show me that he was still here indeed, but he didn't.My chest heaved with frustration as I hurried off. I wasn’t even sure where I was going, but I needed to get away from him. Away from the coldness in his eyes. Away from the emptiness that had replaced the man I loved.I walked through the long corridors of the packhouse, and tried not to make a sound. The moonlight still glowed beautifully in the sky. It reminded me how beautiful our love had once been. Our love was once as beautiful as the full moon. Now, all I felt was a void.I leaned on the wall and felt utterly helpless.“Luna,” Owen called as he approached. “Are you alright?”I turned to face him, and tried to sm

CHAPTER 97: A DANGEROUS AGREEMENTKAELAN:I was in such a great mood after I defeated Marcus. I knew the battle wasn't over but I needed to celebrate this little victory. I had breakfast with my Luna, specially prepared by our chef. Back in my chamber, I pulled Everly to myself.“Come to Daddy,” I said sweetly in her ear and rubbed her belly. “I want to pump my seed in here.”She blushed different shades of red while I pressed a kiss on her forehead. “Come,” I dragged her hand and slipped it under my panties. I wanted her to feel my manhood. She was still blushing but she followed every of my moves. It's been days since I touched her.Now I expected my cock to roar to life after that soft caress by my luna but I felt nothing.I pulled off every single clothing on my body and sprawled on the bed. “Play with Daddy,” I told her, pulling her toward myself. Everly got to work. She kissed me tenderly on my lips while she ran her hands along my arbs. Her thumb circled my nipples and I ex
CHAPTER 96: DEFEATING MARCUS KAELAN: My warriors have assembled outside the castle gates, their armor gleaming under the pale moonlight. The energy in the air was tangible. It was as if a storm was brewing, waiting to be unleashed.Owen moved to my side, his sword strapped across his back. "The scouts just returned. Marcus has fortified the Silver Cross pack with twice the number of rogues. And the humans he recruited? They're armed to the teeth."I smirked. "Good. It'll make crushing them all the more satisfying."Everly was standing close by but her eyes were down and she played with her fingers. My heart went out for her.She was nervous, obviously afraid for me. I walked up to her. "Hey, sweetheart, something on your mind?”She didn't respond.I stared at her for a while. “Make sure you stay here."She scoffed. "Like hell I will.""Everly!"She lifted her chin stubbornly. "You might be immune to silver now, but that doesn’t make you invincible. You need me."I let out a breath
CHAPTER 95: LET'S GO TAKE SILVER CROSS BACK KAELAN:I coordinated my warriors, and gave them instructions on how to attack the enemies and defend themselves. Also we spent the rest of the evening making handmade bulletproof vests. It might not be sophisticated enough but it would certainly make a difference. The hours before dawn passed in restless silence. I lay awake, staring at the ceiling of my chambers, the vial of silver liquid still wrecking havoc with my body. Everly hadn’t returned to our room after storming out of the meeting. I knew she was angry but she'll get over it. Being mated to the Alpha King comes with a cost.A knock at the door pulled me from my thoughts."Enter," I called. The door opened gently, and Owen entered, looking grim. "It’s almost time for the battle, Alpha."I sat up, running a hand through my hair before standing. Owen watched me carefully, like he was afraid something would happen to me.But I didn't give a damn.I grabbed my own vest and followed
CHAPTER 94: JUST ENOUGH FOR ONE WOLF KAELAN:“Kaelan, are you sure about this?” Zion was speaking to me all of a sudden. “I'm worried about the effects she mentioned. Think of what would happen if you lose your memory and can no longer remember a thing. It would be worse than being attacked with ammunition.”I continued walking, but my face felt so tight it hurt. “I won't lose my memory.”“And what if you lost your ability to love. What would happen to your beautiful Luna? She's too young to put up with a man who can't love her.”I paused and thought about it for a while. Well, this was a matter of life and death. We need to be alive first before we can talk about love, right? When Zion received no response from me, he moved ahead.“You know, Kaelan, there can be another way around this. You can talk to Alpha Jordan. He has connections to those who can supply you with sophisticated weapons.”I paused and looked at him. “That's an excellent idea but there's no time. An arm deai takes
