CHAPTER 1

ALPHA DENVER’S POV

I stood there watching the fire, as the buildings fell to crumbles and debris, as the screams wafted through the air and the people all ran and scrambled for help or safety but I could hear them and I could feel their presence. They were all vulnerable and I was the reason. I had infiltrated and attacked their kingdom just as I had done for other realms and packs before theirs and they weren’t going to be the last either.

I was going to keep on doing it until I was going to be known as the strongest werewolf alpha in the whole realms, packs, and kingdoms and they would all fear my name and presence because there was nothing more savory and satisfying than power.

I sighed to myself when I noticed my guards weren’t as fast as I wanted and I turned to my beta that stood beside me. He bowed to me when he felt my scowling gaze on him and I sighed again while rolling my eyes.

“Make it fast Cillian, you know I have a dinner meeting to meet up with. We can’t afford to lose the new partners I found for my company” I said to him and he nodded before he stood straight.

“I’ll work on it immediately, alpha and I’ll be right back to report to you” he replied before he rushed off to make the guards work faster just as I wanted and I smirked to myself as I stood in the same spot.

Minutes passed and Cillian still wasn’t back yet. I was beginning to lose my patience as I wondered what was happening and I checked my wristwatch to see how many minutes had passed since he left my side. The dry stain of blood that belonged to one of the witches that guarded the gates of this kingdom covered the glass and I couldn’t see the time at all. I hissed to myself as I fished for my napkin from my pocket to clean the glass and just as I struggled to get the dry blood off my wristwatch, all the hair on my skin suddenly stood on its ends and I could tell that something was going on but my strong werewolf sense and powers couldn’t catch anything even though my body was warning me.

I stopped cleaning my watch to fully concentrate and get a grasp of what was happening but still nothing and I was still feeling uneasy all over regardless of the fact that I still wasn’t sensing anything until… My wolf suddenly growled with panic in my head and when I listened to it, all I heard was “behind you” and when I turned around to see, not very far from me was a woman lunging at me with a silver knife in hand and blood dripping from her temple. She had rage in her red eyes and tears poured furiously down her face.

“You bastard! I’ll make you pay for destroying my kingdom!” she yelled hysterically as she increased her speed while coming toward me and I just watched her calmly until she got to my front and just when she thought she could actually stab me with the knife, I grabbed her by the neck and watched as she began to choke.

She began to struggle with me and tried to take my hand off her neck but it was all futile. I bet she never imagined I would be stronger than she assumed and I smirked at her when I saw the realization that she was going to die, settle in her eyes.

“I’ll have you know that I am alpha Denver, the strongest and most ruthless alpha in the whole werewolf realm and you really thought that you could just kill me? Many have tried and failed and do you know what always happens to them?” I asked her and she spat in my face.

“Fuck you!” she screamed after and that broke my last straw. I slowly wiped her saliva off my face with my napkin and I threw it away before I returned my rageful gaze to her and she was smiling.

“I swear I would make you regret doing that to me you witch” I growled at her with my fangs out and I let my claws out too before I raised my hand in the air to stab her. Just then, I heard Cillian yelling for me from behind and when I turned to look in his direction, I caught sight of something or someone flying in the air and it was heading toward me. I looked closely and it was a woman with wings.

“Do not dare touch my queen!” The woman on wings screamed at me too when she got closer and I watched as she let claws out of her fingers which I knew she wanted to use to kill me but too bad for her, she wouldn’t be able to kill me or save her queen.

I caught her by the neck too when she came at me and the both of them choked in sync as they struggled to get my hands off their necks.

“Did you both really think you could just kill me because you are witches?” I asked while I chuckled angrily and Cillian finally got to where I was with both witches in my hands.

“I’ll take it from here alpha” Cillian said to me after he had bowed to me again and I shook my head at him. These women tried to kill me so I was going to take care of it myself.

“I’ll do it myself, it’s my own problem” I replied and he nodded without uttering a word to me.

“Tie this one up, I’ll get back to her when I’m done with the first one” I said to him, referring to the winged witch, and along with other guards, they were able to pin her down and they tied her all up to restrict her movement.

Then I turned back to the first woman whom I had figured was the queen of this kingdom and I smiled at her as fear filled her eyes.

“So you are the queen, that must explain why you thought you had a chance against me” I said to her and she didn’t respond.

“What? The cat in you got your tongue? Aren’t witches also cats?” I asked her and she growled at me while I smiled as I saw I had hit a nerve.

“You’ll regret doing this and I promise you that there would be no one to save you” she said to me and just as she opened her mouth to say anything further, I flung her into the air and I watched as she crashed into buildings until she fell to the floor and couldn’t move again.

I walked toward her and I knelt over her as I watched her struggle to get away from me but she couldn’t. She looked at me as I let my claws out and raised my hand at her to end it once and for all because I was getting sick of dragging it on and the skies suddenly turned dark.

I looked at her and her eyes were twinkling while I felt an overwhelming presence around me.

“I curse you Denver, in seven days time from now, you will lose your powers and there will be no way to get them back unless you seek the forgiveness of someone you hurt. I curse you as the queen of this kingdom that you destroyed and I curse you with the innocent blood of my people that you killed” the queen said to me and once she finished speaking, the dark clouds vanished and her eyes were back to normal.

I watched her dumbfoundedly and she smiled at me this time before she pulled a long hairpin from her hair and met my eyes hard on.

“I would rather die by my hands than be killed by you” were the last words she said to me before she stabbed herself in the stomach with the hair pin and we still kept eye contact as she coughed out blood until she dropped dead and her lifeless eyes were still staring at me.

I quickly rose to my feet and rushed at the other winged witch that also tried to kill me and she was laughing when she saw me. All that bugged me was the curse and I didn’t even know if it was going to work or not, all I knew was that I couldn't afford to lose my powers. That was what gave me an advantage over other alphas.

I decided not to let it bother me but what bothered me more was the way the other winged witch kept on laughing and I was determined to replace it with tears instead.

I bent before her and she met my eyes with her mocking eyes and that pissed me off. Who did she think she was making fun of?

“Don’t you dare think that curse wouldn’t work great alpha Denver of the SINNICCA pack because it will and you will regret ever messing with us” she said sarcastically and she began to laugh hysterically again.

“I wouldn’t kill you if you think that is what I would do” I said to her and she stopped laughing so I continued speaking to fill her heart with more dread of what was to come.

“I wonder how it would feel to be the only survivor of your kingdom and then become powerless at the same time” I said to her and I watched as the look in her eyes gradually changed and her irises shook with fear while she swallowed.

I chuckled as I inched closer to her and I grabbed her hair before pulling her head back and she avoided my eyes. I could tell she was terrified because I could hear her fast heartbeat. I looked her over and there was only one thing that caught my attention which was her wings so I wanted it.

“Someone get me the sharpest sword now” I gave an order and without saying any word, Cillian gave me a sword and the guards pinned her down after I told them too.

“Don’t you dare, I would make you regret this” she yelled at me as I pressed the sword to her wings and I smirked at her because I was amused at how fiery she still was.

“I’d like to see you try” I said to her as she tried her best to get me off her back but it was in vain, because she was all tied up.

Her screams echoed through the now empty kingdom that reeked of the smell of smoke as I peeled off her wings with my swords and when I was done, she was shaking all over and there were tears falling from her eyes but I wasn’t shaken.

“That curse will haunt you for life and you will never find a person to forgive you. You are going to wish for days and nights that you didn’t attack this kingdom but it would be too late for that as you will be subjected to live with your doom” she screamed at me and just as I raised my hand to hit her, she vanished and there was no one before me again.

I wasn’t disturbed though, because I had her wings and she was now alone. I destroyed her kingdom and her queen was dead. The curse was definitely never going to work and I was still the most powerful alpha in the whole realms to exist. I was the one that emerged with victory as always and that was the only thing that mattered to me… power.

“Come on, I have a dinner meeting to get to” I said to Cillian and together with my guards and warriors, we all marched to the cars that waited at the outskirts of the witches kingdom.

I got into my own car and without a word being exchanged, the driver drove off as I made plans in my head on how to add the kingdom I just conquered to my pack and make it bigger.

The only thing was that… I still wanted more.
