Catherine's POV
At sunset just like the ministers agreed yesterday, I was brought out of the cell. Standing before the ministers, I was quivering in fear, hoping that they wouldn't change their mind all of a sudden. I want to live, for my kids, and take care of them. I wished to set my eyes on Alpha after a long time of divorce even though I hated him for how he treated me in the past—but I wasn't expecting to pass through all these just because I set my eyes on him.If this is what it means to be his Luna, then it will be better if I stay with Doctor John or rather relocate to another Pack where no one knows me.But still, all thanks to him for showing up on that day to save me, or I wouldn't know what would've been the fate of me and the kids—but it's a pity that the man who was trying to convince me to he his and he will make me his Luna once he overthrown his brother is accusing me of plotting treason which he did.“From today, you'll be a slave and serve the Alpha king in this palace. You're forbidden to set your feet out of this palace for any reason or you'll face the penalty which you deserve.” The minister read out. I never knew slavery still existed in this new era, he would have just made it sound simple that I'll be the king's servant and spend the rest of my life in his royal mansion—because that is what it means to be a servant.I was untied and taken away. My eyes studied the faces of everyone around, but I didn't see Alpha Michael. “I hope he's alright. He's supposed to be here while the judgment is passed, it's a pity that he believed everything they said about me because I have no proof or witness for my innocence. But amongst all, thank you for risking your life in place of me and my kids.” I smiled while the two hefty men with dark glasses took me into the royal mansion…the mansion that I spent months in without stepping my feet outside until the day we divorced. They took me to a particular lady and left immediately, then I stood confused before the young lady. She bowed to me. “Welcome back to the royal mansion, Your Highness…”I couldn't help but smile. That was when I took a good look at her, she was the Head female servant when I was still married to Alpha, and it looks interesting that she didn't forget me. “It's been a while. Hope you've been good? We missed you…” she added and I stretched my hand for a greeting which she didn't reject.“I've been fine.” I responded.“Keep deceiving yourself. Being loved by the servants doesn't assure your safety, just know that you're one of them now…” came a feminine voice from behind, and then a young lady showed up before us. Her attire revealed that she was an office worker, and I didn't hesitate to recognize the face.“Jennifer Peterson!”“Exactly! That's me.I knew it, that you weren't up to something good when you showed up in the company…” she licked her lips and pouted it sexually. “Anyways, as you can see, I'm returning from Alpha's company, and I need to make an account to him before I leave since he wasn't at work today…do have a nice time chatting with your fellow servant.” She mocked and walked past us.The head female servant held my hand and drew me into a room some feet away from where we stood. That was the room I stayed in when I married Alpha Michael. She forced my ass on the chair, making me feel baffled because as a servant, I shouldn't be here. “Always disguise yourself as a servant, but have it in mind that you aren't and this is your room—that was Alpha's order before he left.” She stated and made her way out of the room. I felt haunted, trying to understand what was going on but couldn't. Why would Alpha give such an order when he saw everything that took place the past day? Does it mean that he never believed them or he's trying to find out the truth from me when he gets back? “I guess he left to bring my kids!” I concluded and stood from the chair. A loud voice of a female hit my ears and I opened the door to see Alpha's secretary being dragged. Not just her, all the servants under the building were all jailed and were dragged out together. My eyes fell on the head female servant who signaled me to go back into the room and I did so immediately. “But why are they all being taken away?” I scratched my head, feeling uncomfortable. After a few minutes, the mansion became as quiet as a graveyard. There was no atom of noise heard and that made me scared. “Are they planning to burn down the building and leave me alone in it?” I shook my head and made my way out only for me to stumble on a young but hefty man.I lifted my face. He was dressed in a suit with his dark glasses on.He said nothing to me neither did I, he only passed by me after a few seconds of obstructing the way.“I need to get out of this building.” I muttered, tiptoeing out until I reached a very enormous room that looked like the royal chamber, then I peeped in to see the ministers gathered, while Alpha was seated on the throne, his face contorted. “What the hell is going on?” I glued my back to the wall.“Arresting all the workers in your company and in this royal mansion will do nothing. You only have to gather them….”“Shut that crap you call mouth!” Alpha slammed his hand angrily on the table. I wonder what it is that infuriated him that much. “You dared accuse my mate of plotting treason on me, and then within a few hours, my kids went missing. Then you want me to keep mute just to be a good king to you…”My heart sank into my belly. I just hope this is a daydream. There's no way I'll lose my kids or a dead person is more useful than me—those kids are my power and happiness.I peeped in again to see Alpha down from his throne.“Just like all my workers are arrested, so will I demote the whole of you and arrest you all as well if you don't find a solution to bring my kids back alive ... .the investigation bureau and the police custody are not even free.” He shrieked at them. “Your majesty, you have nothing to do with those kids because they will never be royalty so long as their mother is concerned. What you should be into now is to get a Luna….” One of the ministers uttered but Alpha choked him by the throat.‘Is that why you abducted my kids without leaving a trace?” He pushed him away. “Twenty four hours is too much to get my kids back, or the penalty is death…” He remarked.I swallowed hard. That doesn't stop the fact that the lives of my kids are in danger. My heart slipped beyond my control. My legs were so weak that they couldn't bear the weight of my body again. I lost my balance but fell into a huge arm that held me from falling to the ground—even though my sight was already blurry, I saw his face clearly.“Alpha, my kids…” I passed out.Alpha Michael’s POV: "Out of my way!" A growl rumbled through my chest as I pushed past maids and guards walking past. I was filled with a sense of panic that spread throughout my body like a malignant tumor. I kicked the door to my chambers open, yelling at the guards to get the Pack's physician. I carefully placed her on the bed, the side of the bed dipping as I took a seat beside her. I checked her pulse. It was weak but she had one. Her blond hair lacked luster and was a mess behind her compared to the beautiful golden halo it used to be when I made love to her one time in the past. Pushing to my feet, I walked to the window and pulled the drapes open before coming back to sit on the bed. Hell, I wasn't going to leave her side no matter what. So much had happened and maybe I needed someone beside me too. The physician arrived in less than twenty minutes and I pushed to my feet, walking towards him. "She collapsed. Nothing bad must happen to her, please.
Catherine POV: My legs kept swinging from one side to the other. I was filled with impatience, paranoia and anger. I could control neither of these emotions. I wished Michael could drive faster. There was no time on our side. "Can you drive faster?!" I cried. "I am Catherine. You don't want us breaking traffic rules." "You already did!" I snapped as tears blurred my vision. "Their lives are on the line. Please. I have seen enough and I don't want to see their death." "Do you realize that I don't know where they are?" That was true. My heart sank. I'd been too agitated that I didn't even think of their possible whereabouts. "So... what exactly are we going to do?" "I don't know. I have sent out private investigators and detectives. The cops are also doing their jobs." "So where are we driving too?" I asked. My heart sank deeper into my chest with every passing moment. "Peter's." "What?!" I exclaimed, eyes wide in fear. "No way. We are not goin
Catherine POV: The drive back home was filled with silence. I felt so restless but there was nothing I could do about it. Michael looked really calm for someone who was panicking and I was starting to have useless doubts which I didn't even want to talk about. We finally got back to the palace and when the guards stepped forward to grab me by the arm, one look from Michael had them stepping backward. He assigned one of the maids to me. I remembered her. Though she hadn't been my personal maid at the time I arrived here, she'd been kind to me. Her name was Lisa. She led me to my room and upon walking in, I was engulfed with nostalgic feelings. Not good ones. Bad ones. The memories I had here were painful memories. Memories that only spoke of loneliness and pain and so much longing that was never satisfied. "I'll be right back with a few dresses for you." I nodded and watched Lisa leave before walking deep into the room. It hadn't changed. The drapes we
Alpha Michael's POV; The next morning, I woke up at the shrill ring of my phone, immediately sitting up and picking it to see it was a call from one of the men I'd hired to investigate the children's kidnapping. I picked up immediately, bringing the phone to my ear and sitting up on my bed. "I got an update." "And what is it this time? I hope it's about my kids?" "We found intel where they might be," He replied. "Last night, one of my men caught sight of a suspicious activity going on so we tracked the location to a warehouse." "Has it been checked out?" "It is in progress. We are waiting for confirmation. You just need to stay put for a while." "Where the fuck is the warehouse?" I growled, anger rippling through me. "Send the location to me right now. Do not waste my time." "Alright. I am sending it to you right now." Just as soon as the call ended, my phone beeped with a message. I tapped it open, checked the text to see that it was located in o
Alpha Michael's POV; I rushed into the warehouse, breaking through doors and pushing past pipes that leaned against the wall before I got to a door. I looked around, searching for any wrench to pull the metal latch from the door but I found nothing. In frustration, I began to walk around, searching for anything available to use. I caught a metal bat resting on the wall at the side and quickly picked it up, hoping it was going to help. It did. I was able to unlatch the door. The room was pitch black but I could hear the cries of the little children in the room. I took out my phone and turned on the torchlight to see them both huddled in the corner. "Oh, thank God!" I cried and rushed over to them. They had ropes tied around their hands and legs and their mouths were clamped shut with tapes. I fell to my knees right before them, untying it until they were free before I pulled them both into my arms. "You're safe. You both are safe. Don't worry about anything
Catherine POV: I could barely sleep. It was already evening and Michael was yet to return. I'd spent most of my day running around and asking for his whereabouts. I was so disoriented. So disorganized even. I didn't know if he'd gone to get the kids or if he had gone somewhere else. His men kept pacing around in frenzied movements and I could tell from the looks of things that something had gone wrong. "Hello," I stopped one of the men who had a phone to his ear. He pulled it off and gave me a look of displeasure. Yes, I had distracted him from his call but I didn't care at this point. All I wanted was to know how my kids were doing. "Where is he? He's not been home all morning." The man sighed and looked at his phone before asking the other person on the other end to cut the call. "I don't know where he is." "So what's going on? Why is everyone looking panicked?" "I don't think it's something I can tell you, ma'am. You can wait until he returns. Maybe as
Alpha Michael's POV: After she took them in, I felt slightly terrible that she didn't even acknowledge me or show any form of appreciation. Of course, I had messed up terribly in the past by throwing her and the kids and maybe this was just me paying for my sins. But I'd expected some form of acknowledgement and she hadn't given me that. To be honest, it had really hurt terribly and instead of going back to my chambers, I'd grabbed a bottle of cognac and a glass mug, walked back out of the Palace to the courtyard before taking a seat by the fountain and pouring myself a glass. I leaned back into the large statue and continued to drink while looking up into the skies. The divorce papers. We were yet to find it. Telling anyone I'd lost the file containing my divorce papers would think me stupid. A search was still ongoing but it didn't seem like something that was going to be fruitful. I'd given my second Investigator a call and they had been unable to find anythin
Alpha Michael's POV: "Gotten any updates?" "Not yet, Alpha Michael. Things haven't really been looking up. We've just been stuck here trying to find some sort of lead." It took a lot for me not to toss my phone over to the other side of the room. I would have loved to watch it crash against the wall for the satisfaction of it but gods knew I couldn't do that. I tried to maintain a cool demeanor while he rambled off for the next one minute. "So all of this means there might not be a lead? What the fuck is your final verdict?!" I snapped into the phone, seething with rage as I waited for his reply. "I don't know yet for real, Alpha Michael. Whoever got their hands on this must have done it to get to you because this is the first time we aren't getting a lead on anything." I ended the call before he could say anything and dropped my phone into the couch closest to me. I raised my fingers through my hair, resisting the urge not to do something nasty. She h
