Jaselyn's POV 

The kitchen despite its size was warm and inviting, filled with the comforting aroma of spices and freshly baked bread. Mrs. Windsommer hummed a cheerful tune as she moved around, gathering ingredients for our impromptu meal. I couldn’t help but feel a sense of peace being here with her, away from the tension and complications of my relationship with Rion.

“Jaselyn dear, could you please chop these vegetables?” Mrs. Windsommer asked, handing me a basket filled with colorful produce.

“Of course, mum,” I replied promptly, taking the basket and moving to the sink.

As I washed the vegetables, she spoke.

“You know, I'm really glad that Rion found you. I won't lie, I loved Ziarre dearly. She was more of a daughter to me than a daughter in-law.

Her death was a blow to my mate and I but it broke Rion to pieces.
