Adam
“I thought I told you not to call me on this number,” I responded the moment the phone was on my ear, “Jay is getting closer to catching me and you calling me could be a trap,”
“This is an emergency, something happened.”
“What is it? Did you find out if James was the detective who helped transfer Sebastian out of Springs?”
“No not that but this is about your sister, Adam,”
“What happened?” I stood up, “Did you find her?” I asked.
“Yes. I wasn’t aware of her whereabouts until a few minutes ago.”
“Where was she? Is she alright?” I asked.
“Where she was is not important but where she is right now.”
James “WHAT?” I took a step back, “What?” I asked with a scoff. Nigel had hurled me out of the office by the shoulders making me walk out with him while I was in the middle of getting answers from Nick’s maid. “Are you out of your mind?” Nigel asked crossed armed, “You are asking the poor lady questions without a proper cause. Intimidating her with your gun and badge so she can talk. She is not a suspect, and neither was she under arrest and on top of it all,” he shook his head. “You accuse her without knowing for sure if it’s even your girlfriend,” he spoke as his hands went up in surrender. “You are doubting me now? After everything?” I scoffed, shaking my head, “Unbelievable.” “Where the fuck are you going?” he asked.
James “OH MY GOD, James,” Harper squealed the moment I walked in the front door jumping before going in for a hug. “Easy there, you almost gave me a heart attack,” I responded. “Why didn’t you tell me?” She took a step back, still giddy. “Tell you what?” I frowned looking at her. “The car. The one that’s outside with a bow. It’s mine, right? I can’t believe you rushed off without telling me I now have a car. Where are the keys? You are the best brother ever,” she said without standing still giddy. “Oh shoot. I’m sorry I forgot,” I smiled, taking out the keys from my pocket, “That was the surprise I had for you earlier. At least now you don’t have to nag me about this anymore.”
James I couldn’t believe my eyes as I watched Ki sitting in her office working. I called her name, but she couldn’t hear me. I wanted to get closer to kiss her or touch her, but I couldn’t. There was a soft knock in her office and I became mad but there was nothing I could do but watch. “Hey, Ki, I know you like to work until late, but I have canceled your afternoon session,” Nick said and I could tell he was holding his breath as Ki responded not taking my eyes off the keyboard. “I understand,” she responded. “What?” he asked. "There is a storm coming,” she said looking at him and he looked dumb folded. “But?” he muttered before she waved a dismissive hand at him.
Nick I was back after the worst twenty hours of my life. After the confrontation and my last conversation with Morgan, to say I was pissed was an understatement. He had humiliated me and left me in Malaysia alone. That sick bastard had left me there. He practically threw me out of his plane. The little shit. Lesson learned. I will never use anyone’s jet again. I will use my own transportation from now on and get to throw people out like a dog. How dare he leave me alone like that, like I was nothing.?I am the most powerful man, more powerful than him and he did this to me. I swear I will personally deal with his arrogance as soon as I deal with my father. He thinks he can control everything, but he is wrong. I called him to ask what the hell happened, and he responded like it was nothing.
Nick It feels great to be in charge again. I was sitting in a private room waiting for someone to bring Ki to me. I was my father’s son after all. I had made my own connections and most of the board for this hospital knew me. All it took was one phone call for the arrangement to be made so I can see her privately. I sat gracefully sipping my coffee waiting. Most people don’t know there is a private floor in the hospital. On top of the ICU, there is the fourth floor where someone like me would be taken if I was to be in the hospital. The door opened and I placed my coffee on the table as two nurses wheeled the bed in. I got up swiftly and watched them. I didn’t know what I was expecting but the moment my eyes landed on her I froze. The nurses stopped and began hooking tubes and checking the machine and they finished and nodded before l
James I hated this. I sighed as I tapped my foot. This is the last place I wanted to be. I had had enough of it. I was wasting precious time which was not doing anything to calm my nerves. “Sit your ass down, Pega,” Romans shouted as he pointed a finger at me while pacing around. “We are wasting precious time here. I don’t understand why we are talking when Nick is out there,” I responded as I sat back down. “Don’t forget Adam,” Romans stated, “I’m disappointed that you didn’t trust me. The department,” I scoffed as Nigel backhanded my chest. I groaned and gritted my teeth. I had a fucking wound and he seemed to have forgotten about it. I had to get it treated again and put on a new bandage after running around looking for Nick. I almost caug
Morgan Since I found out about Kioni everything has changed. I knew this news would be wonderful to share and screw my father over with this because by his reaction he already knew she was alive. He laughed when I walked into the office and told him. I have no idea how long he knew but I was furious. Everyone else knew including that prick Nick. I was the only one not in their little secret club and I wondered what else they had been hiding and I was going to make it my business to know everything. I’m no fool and they will learn all of them. “Sir, we are here,” my driver spoke. “Thanks,” I said. My palms were sweating because what I was about to do next was not going to be easy. This is the first in a long time I was feeling human again. I h
James “I really hope you will wake up so I can tell how much I have missed you,” I spoke as I pulled a chair close to Ki’s bed. She looked comfortable but I prayed she would open her eyes. A lot has happened, but I want to be there for her. Be the man she deserves. I looked down checking my phone again but there were still no messages from Nigel. It has been over an hour and considering the storm, I’m sure he was bound to call any minute. I grabbed her hand and sighed. There was a lot I wanted to say to her, but I couldn’t find the words. I ran my thumb on her knuckles as I stared into space. My thoughts were disoriented, I wanted her to wake up. I wanted his brother found. I wanted to be home with my sister. I wanted the bad guys caught. I was wondering about Sebastian. It would be easier to find him if I knew his full name. I wanted
KioniTrue happiness is what I felt. We were sitting having breakfast before the guys left the table, one after the other. It was all so weird. I looked around the table and everyone seemed to be oblivious. I wanted to go check what was happening outside, but the girls stopped me and began having a conversation about what we had for our dinner last night.“I should get the recipe and make this for Wayne.”“I’m not a skilled cook, but I loved the sauce.” Dani added.“That meat was so tender.” Gaby smiled.“Mhh, it was melting in my mouth.” Faith chided.“Faith ate for two.” Harper laughed&ldq
HarperA few months later,I had made some progress and was ready for this holiday. Tomorrow is going to be a big day. I looked at my suitcases and gleefully smiled.“Harper!”“Coming,” I shouted. I ran down the stairs. “What?” I scoffed.Sam has been my bodyguard. This was not by choice. It was annoying. I preferred the other guard, though I don’t remember his name. He never talked much. Unlike Sam, who takes every chance to speak.“You have a visitor,” he said. “Make it quick. We have to leave soon. I’m not getting in trouble because of you.”“
AdamWith my injured leg and James’ injured shoulder, we almost struggled to keep Harper steady. Her strength was almost impossible to rear.“Thank you.” James said with a sigh.“Don’t mention it.”“It’s over.”“Yeah, it is,” I said, looking at the car where Nick was.“I should go with her to the hospital.”“I’m right behind you.” I nodded.James and my sister left with Harper in the same ambulance. Sebastian, Morgan and Gaby had also gone ahead. We were all being taken to Dawson Hospital
SebastianLesson learnt. Nick was just as canny as his father. He kept surprising me. He had an army. Over twenty men, I'm sure. He knew we were coming. He was prepared. I didn’t do enough to catch him. I should have followed the money theory harder. If I was aware of how vigorous he was, things would have been different. We wouldn’t be in this situation. Nick was worse than his father.“You two stay here. Help is almost here. I have to get in there.”“Don’t get killed,” Adam said.“Be careful,” Nigel said.I gave them both a nod and moved. I was a little rusty, but I prayed I could manage. I ran inside, dodging all the bullets. Before I got in, I saw him ducking his head. Nigel had my back.
NickHiring people to take Kioni to the mansion was a plan in the works for a long time. All the months of planning and watching from afar were necessary. I was going to take Kioni either way. She belonged to me. They all underestimated me. Underestimating the love I felt for her. She was mine, and I was going to make it crystal clear.Everything was set. I was prepared for a fight. One of two things was going to happen. Kioni was going to come to me or I was going to go take her. No army of guards was going to stop me because I had an army of my own. An army I spent a lot of money on and they were the best.Charles taught me one thing that stuck with me. Being resourceful and passionate enough to grasp the moment. My moment was now staring at me. They really made it easy for me. We were going to get married. She looked stunning in that
HarperThey always sideline me. As much as they were, I was involved in this as well. I would be devastated if something happened to Kioni or Gaby. I was actually devastated. That’s why when they were leaving, I followed them.I jumped into Morgan’s car with the bodyguard. He didn’t even know his boss had left with the others when I told him to drive. We were not really seeing eye to eye because the drive started off in an argument.“You know you are going to get me in trouble,” he eyed me with the corner of his eye.“I don’t care. Just drive.” I yelled.“I don’t even know where they went.” he yelled back.“They must have driven pa
KioniMy head hung low from a chair. I opened my eyes and looked around. My hands were chained to a chair. I sat straight and looked around.“Gaby!” I shouted. She was lying on the floor. “Gaby. Wake up.”“You are awake,” Nick emerged from behind me. “How do I look?”“What are you doing?” I asked him, “What did you do to her?”“Come on, Kiki,” he laughed, “This is what we always wanted.”“I don't want this.” I creased my face in disgust. “I know everything you did to me.”“I did nothing you didn’t want.” he walked a
MorganMy phone was ringing, but it was not on the nightstand. It was ringing somewhere on the floor close to the door; I think. My head was pounding like crazy. Someone shaking me made me open my eyes. I blinked a couple of times, hoping the room would stop spinning.I stumbled off the bed and looked around. There were two women in my bed and one on the floor. I did not know what was going on. The ringing was so loud. All I wanted was to go back to bed. Sleep off the dizzy.“Make it stop.” the woman on the floor stirred.I moved to find my phone. I had no idea what the hell was happening. When I got my phone, I almost threw it on the floor. I wanted to hurl. I scrunched and answered the call.
SebastianThe shouting inside was hurting my ears even as I stood outside smoking. I don’t even know how they all ended up shouting like that. They have all drifted, of course, from the actual issue.Morgan’s idea made sense. Nick would do anything to get to Kioni. All this time we had focussed on that factor. We had her protected at all times that it was difficult for him to try something. That’s why he easily spotted the weaker spot.Harper.How many weak spots could he see? I drew a big puff and stared at nothing. I wish I could drown all the noise. Prison was usually peaceful at this time of the night. Their annoying fighting was actually making me miss the serenity.“I thought you had gone home,” I to
